I discovered your channel maybe a week ago and instantly subscribed. Even though your channel is smaller than other Gunpla reviewers for now, I really love your channel and videos. The videos have structure but they’re not overly lengthy. They’re straight forward but not rushed. I’m really rooting for you and I look forward to all your videos
I decided to buy this kit based entirely off this review, it was also my first kit ever, and i loved it! I can confirm everything said here is very accurate.
Among all the great gunpla reviewers out there you might just be my favorite. Im really glad you've been giving old school kits a lot of spotlight since I originally wrote off getting the G Gundam kits because of their age. Now I want to get all the G Gundam MGs (except maybe the God Gundam cuz of those wonky proportions). Please someone sponsor this dude!
I’d prefer a 2.0. MGex would mean LED strips in the arms, which would probably hamper mobility. As a mobile fighter, it having less mobility would mean a step down from the older mg. Plus, Bandai would probably put a high price on it.
Definitely agree with you. G Gundam MGs are in the class of their own, especially during the time they were released. I alsohave the MG God Gundam and can still go toe-to-toe with modern MGs foor articulation & solidness.
Lets be honest here, they are probably the kits that people would change poses more often than the new and more articulated kits. Solid build, articulate enough to hold a ton of poses and most specially, they don't have that much accessories which would usually limit what you could do with a kit. Heck, I've changed mine in a lot more poses in just 5 days compared to my dynamese.
They did make a high resalution god gundam witch it desperately deserved. I do hope they do it for the shining gundam. But ya i dotn think they well sadly. But bandai has no problem pushing out 50 version of unicorn gundam... ugh
The nubs on the shoulders is a nightmare but Bandai saved me by giving extra rubber vfin. At least I finally built it after 5 yrs. Gonna sand the nubs soon
Every time I seem Bandai posting for a hobby show I am always disappointed because they never announce an MG 2.0 or an RG Shining. G Gundam never seems to get much love from Bandai 😔
Wow, this is a great review and I really enjoyed it. I like how clear your are with communicating things to the viewer, as well as how thorough you are with the kit. Measuring the the range in a limb with degrees is also really helpful. I also am really glad you like Shining Gundam so much. It's my favorite Gundam and I love it quite a bit. I'll definitely be checking out your other videos!
I had almost all the G Gundam mg kits 10 years ago and I'm buying one at a time just to paint them with my airbrushing skills. But, they are cheap kits
G Gundam is the Goat of Gundam and I really really really wish they would make a whole new line of MG Gundam for all the shuffle aliance, The spiegal gundam and all the villains
Have this kit. During build, I accidentally broke the left knee joint due to tightness of the screws. Ended up with limited posing coz the left knee can no longer be bended. Anyway, nice review of an old kit.
Thanks for this vid. I was thinking of getting it because the price was pretty low but judging from your video it needs a bit of work and could probably benefit from a newer MG version of it.
@RedHeadphones6 Great video! the shining gundam is my favorite mobile fighter. I would love to see you do a mg gouf 2.0 review I find it to be a very good kit all around. It goes with all the other kits you tend to review as it is a 2.0 and has that great zaku like innerframe.
Agreed, they aren't a huge issue for me. They can really add stability to inner frames, which makes this kit one of the sturdiest Master Grades. I just make a point to mention them, as screws can sometimes be hit or miss (like that shot of the ankle in this video) and to make sure beginners know in advance they'll need a screw driver.
I'd love to see you do unique suits/mobile armors in MG! Like the Ball, or something strange like that, something that would totally throw your grading system out of wack haha
My 1st kit is the build grade shining gundam as well. I remember when i bought it together with my mom when i was a kid. Good times bro, good times! Thank you for this review, i remember the best moments of my childhood.
I just love this channel! I love that most of his Gunpla reviews are Master Grades because Master Grade is my favourite line of Gunpla! Please keep posting these kind of vids
Unfortunately no. This doesn't even have an action base connector, so aside from having to buy a stand, you're limited to using those included fork things to get this guy held in.
Hey i've been watching you for a couple years now, and I was wondering if you can review Gundam Spiegel. I would love to see that reviewed because not very many people reviewed it and they are like 10 years old, and I think you might even like that I think its cool and am contemplating whether or not I should buy it.
Everybody love the god gundam. But the shinning gundam what started it all. I prefer the shining over the god gundam cuz the battle theme for the shining gundam was way more inclined to the show than the battle theme of the god gundam.
I've watched your videos for a good while now and absolutely love your review style. I much prefer your style over other Gunpla reviewers (ZakuAurelius being my other favorite). It sucks to hear this might be the last review you do, but I'll definitely check out anything else you do. Best of luck to you, man!
Thanks! I'm still not sure this will be the definite last video, there's always the possibility for more. I just want to be up front about things so if this is the last one, you guys aren't left wondering what happened haha
Understandable! At least you let us know instead of just disappearing like rrobert184. Though I do believe he does reviews for some Gunpla website now.
Glad you're posting again and a hundred percent agree. The mobile e-fighter series of master grade gundams are hands-down some of the best that hold up over time and still look remarkably well. They give almost a anime s quality fresh out of the box with its non-traditional proportions
in all honesty I tend to be more lenient on older kits cus i kinda grew up when you had to put in a little extra effort for kits. my biggest one was thr SR-71 Blackbird and then 2 Black Hawks so when i tried gundam it was like a canvas to do more details and ways to improve my skills and see where i improved or developed. I love the older Gundam kits.
Welcome back, your reviews are always my favorite. Your fair to the models and you make them look really good. You’re the biggest reason I got the MG F91 2.0.
just wondering is their any chance you might do a review of the spiegel gundam soon since that's the only model kit from the G line you haven't reviewed yet.
I start to take interest to this kit and the other old kits like MG Ground, God, and the GP's. But my mind just keep telling me "Be patience and wait for their 2.0". What should I do? 😭
haha, it depends on the kit for sure. Personally, the Shining and Ground Gundam hold up extremely well imo, and are worth picking up now. The God Gundam is also cheap enough that it's worth looking into, even if it doesn't hold up as well. The GP series though, unless you're down for some serious fixing-up, I'd probably hold off on those. Regardless, best of luck! :)
This hand of mine glows with an awesome power! Its burning grip tells me to defeat you. Take this, my love, my anger and all of my sorrow. Shining fingerrrr!!!
I realize this is a 3 year old video, but I'm hoping to build this kit based on your recommendation. What did you use for the gold paint? Gundam markers?
No worries. I used Gundam Markers for the gray and black detailing. For the gold, I used Krylon Gold Leaf. It's not exactly recommended for Gundpla, but I like the look of it. Just has a bit more of a sparkle to it. Best of luck on the build!
@@redheadphones6 Actually one more question, any priming for the Krylon? Looks like results are mixed on using enamel paint with PS plastic. Thanks again!
I used a Krylon metallic spray paint called "Gold Leaf." I haven't used Krylon paint for anything else, as I only received that color as a gift from a friend, but it did a great job of making a gold that both popped, but didn't distract from the rest of the suit.
personally i like the burning gundam version better as far as the 2 kits go. also wish we would have gotten a set of rubber hands with both the shinning and burning that allowed them to hold hands for that epic burning and shinning god finger pose from the show
Love G-Gundam. This shining gundam kit is my favorite too, it was my second MG build. Yea theres a fair amount of painting to do to get it color accurate, i painted the yellow parts gold as well coloring the thrusters and vulcans for anime accuracy. For anyone who decides to build the kit though watch out for the red shoulder parts, the pieces are kinda flimsy, i snapped the left one but its being held in by tension luckily, you cant see the crack from the front.
Happy to see a review of this it was well worth the wait. if this is going to be your last review I just want to say that I’ve enjoyed all of your reviews thoroughly I always find myself going back to them
I really enjoy watching these! They're nicely edited, plus the little tips you give regarding detailing and any other quirks are always really interesting. Keep going, excited to see what else you've got!
Thanks for asking. I used an old can of Krylon spray paint. The color is "Gold Leaf." I really like it because it's a bit duller than other golds, so I think the details are a bit more noticeable.
I really like Shining Gundam more than God Gundam. One of the reason is because it didn't have unnecessary 'backpack', especially for Gundam that use martial arts
Yeah, it is a little weird in hindsight to give a martial arts fighter a big backpack lol. I guess it was just a style of the time, considering the crazy wings and satellite cannon found in the following series.
Thanks for watching!

I’d prefer a 2.0. MGex would mean LED strips in the arms, which would probably hamper mobility. As a mobile fighter, it having less mobility would mean a step down from the older mg. Plus, Bandai would probably put a high price on it.
My first Gunpla was also the no grade Shining Gundam back in '94. It remains one of my favorite all-time suits.
that was also my first gunpla too!

Those Gold parts really shine!
I wish we'd get a 2.0 for this and if I can make a wish that would probably never come true in my lifetime a pg of this guy.
They did make a high resalution god gundam witch it desperately deserved. I do hope they do it for the shining gundam. But ya i dotn think they well sadly. But bandai has no problem pushing out 50 version of unicorn gundam... ugh

Easily my favorite gunpla reviewer ever
new camera is looking good man! might have to get me a shining gundam now lol
G Gundam is the Goat of Gundam and I really really really wish they would make a whole new line of MG Gundam for all the shuffle aliance, The spiegal gundam and all the villains
Hey RedHeadPhone! May I ask what brand of yellow and gold did you use? They looks very nice (I'm reffering to the yellow on the God Gundam)
Thank you for actually painting your kits, not nearly enough builders on here do
Have this kit. During build, I accidentally broke the left knee joint due to tightness of the screws. Ended up with limited posing coz the left knee can no longer be bended. Anyway, nice review of an old kit.

The best part of his videos is the intro theme. Lol
That gold is amazing! Do you remember what paint you used?,
Have any grunt mg kits around $40 or under to suggest? (Own zaku ll)
The GM version 2.0 is amazing! The GM Sniper II is also really solid. Great companions to a Zaku!
My favorite gunpla reviewer! Glad to have you back
Honestly i dont mind screws on my inner frame, as long as it gets covered or has the same color as the frame.
Agreed, they aren't a huge issue for me. They can really add stability to inner frames, which makes this kit one of the sturdiest Master Grades. is there a free stand for this kit?

i really wanna get one of these now
Yes! i might not be that fan of mgs but you're reviews are really calming and very informative, so keep up the amazing work

Hi redheaphones, what color did you use to paint the gold parts? Is it gaianotes?
