I've had this video done for a while and was contemplating uploading it. There's a lot of personal information here that I wasn't sure I wanted to be sharing with the world. So many people have asked to interview me about how the company started over the years. I didn't want to give it exclusively to just one person, or wind up repeating the same story many times. I finally decided to go for it and tell the whole story on UA-cam. This way everyone can see it and learn from it. If you gain even a little bit of motivation, strength, willpower, fortitude, whatever you want to call it from it, then everything we went through was not in vain. Judging from all the positive comments on this one, I think I made the right decision. Thank you all for watching and commenting.
Keep it up, Geo! I always bargain shop, but the few things that are a couple bucks more on your website than on Amazon or any other site, I still buy from you. I support every bit I can! From your website, I’ve bought over $500 in gifts for the gents in my family in the past month alone, and I’ve already budgeted out another $1,000+ more in Shave Nation gifts for the next few months because my other siblings (sisters included) fell in love with dad’s gift set I got him. I love wet shaving, and I love sharing the experience with my family and close friends. My dad says it reminds him of his dad and grandpa back when he was a kid growing up in Mexico, and claims that I stole his grandpa’s safety razor just to give it to him 😂
Wow! Thank you all for your wonderful comments. As a result of these YT videos, I've developed friendships with people around the world. I'm glad you enjoyed the story of how everything started, and I'm very thankful for your support of ShaveNation.com
You, sir, are a real man. Worked your way up with two hands, lost nearly everything, fought through despair but held fast in love and responsibility, and worked your way up again. It that's not what a man is, I don't know what it is. I respect that. I respect you. Thank you, sir. Fantastic story.
I had to check it...at 8:19 I kinda got choked up... even after all these years. Thanks for watching and commenting about your favorite part of the story.
Hello Geo, You've really taught me a lot about wet shaving. I've watched a ton of your videos and ordered some great products from you as well. Usually my wife will walk by and glance at the TV when I'm watching the videos but this time she stopped, sat down and watched it all. She enjoyed it and said to say hi. And you're right, it's not what you say that people remember, its what you do. Keep doing what your're going and God Bless!
Thanks Leo! I love your comment. I've heard that some wives will bust on their husbands for watching another man's videos. I love the fact that your wife actually took the time to sit through the entire thing. Give her a big hug from Geofatboy! Take care.
Thank you for shaving …. oh sorry… sharing your story! I probably first saw your video back in 2012 I believe. Your faith in God, sense of responsibility towards family is amazing.
Geo your videos taught me how to shave with a a double edge razor. I remember coming across one of your videos by accident. I saw it and thought it was interesting. I was still shaving with my mach 3. One day I go to a convenient store and I saw my first safety razor a Lord with the Merkur head for $2.99 and next to it was a pack of Wilkinson sword blades for .99 cents I bought it went home and thought about your video. I was going to shave with a safety razor for the first time. That was 7 years ago. Here I am with my 3 inch screen phone trying to follow what you do. The first shave was horrible but I didn't give up. I kept on watching your techniques and I got better. I then purchased a Merkur 42c with a a vanderhagen set. I shaved with that razor for 6 months. I was intrigued by one of your videos on the Merkur Progress I purchased the Long handled version then I started buying Gillette SS and even a gem now I lost count how many razors blades and soaps I own Including about 10 shave brushes. Your a great teacher and all the stuff you went through you never gave up. I'm a single father I have an 8 year daughter my ex wife passed away October 26,2016 it's been hard I was married for 10 years. I miss her alot but life continues. Thank you for your inspiring story and for being humble and transparent God bless you Geo.
Thanks very much Ramiro and I'm very sorry about the hardship you endured with your wife. Time heals all wounds. If this video helped you in the least bit, I'm thankful for that. Keep a good thought and things will be fine. All the best to you and your daughter.
Thank you very much Geo! I really appreciate that. Time heals all wounds and God places amazing people in our lives during difficult times as he did in your hardship I know this too shall pass.
Awesome story Geofatboy! I was a carpenter in a family business, who was disabled at 35 from MS. I persevered and earned a masters degree in Public Policy. I used to ride a Harley softail with ape hangers and tail dragging fenders. I keep hoping for a guiding path for success, but until then I keep practicing classical singing. I love your videos and they have helped me shave better with a DE razor.
What a great story! Just goes to show you're never a loser until you give up....so just don't give up. I'm heading over to shave nation to buy something right now. You deserve to be reimbursed for all the shaving educational videos you've made.
Thanks for the video, and background info. I find your sites quite helpful. I'm 61 years old, retired Army National Guard Medic. When I went to Baghdad in 2004, I didn't want to carry pressurized cans of shaving cream, nor their weight. so, I found a generic set containing a brush, cup, and shaving soap. They took up a lot less space in my kit, and I didn't worry about a possible can rupture, as soldiers are pretty rough on gear. The one thing I didn't have, though, was a safety razor. That came later, after I left Iraq. I found at a yard sale, an old 3 piece safety razor, that may go back to the 1940's, not sure though. i plan on ordering supplies through you, as I am tired of only finding blades at Wal-Mart, when I get some things sorted out. Thanks again Justin I
Justin-Thank you for your service and your support! You're never too old to learn a new craft. I speak with Gents every day from 15 to 80 looking to improve their shave!
I only order my shaving stuff from you, I tell ya, the little freebie and the hand written thanks speak volumes about your appreciation for your customers, and I hope the customers turning to you for their shaving products speaks volumes about how much we value you.
I am from Taiwan and used to lived in Denver,Colorado. Your video teach me lots of knowledge about web shaving and now I have three safety razors. Thank you Geofatboy. I enjoy your videos and see your face from a young man to a gentleman.
You’re a man of integrity and good heart. Thanks for all you do for your clients and of course for your viewers. I have watched several of your videos, seeking for a technic or a review of a razor or blade, etc.. we share the same Lake Michigan waters and winters as well the nice springs after a harsh winter, which we always appreciate. Keep doing what you’re doing and God bless you.. my 6 year old daughter watches your your videos on a Saturday morning while we eat some cereal 🥣, she really enjoys listening to you the “ greetings this geo fat boy “ that’s her fav part. Happy holidays to you and your family.
That's Awesome John! Tell your daughter: Greetings! Uncle Geo says hi! Anything that allows you to have some good bonding time with your children is alright with me and I'm glad to be a part of it. Days are getting shorter-winter's coming-get ready :)
That settles it. I’m placing my order with you tomorrow morning. Love the videos and love the background. I look forward to doing business with you for many years to come.
Hi Geo, Dave from England here. A great and inspiring story my friend. You should be proud of your achievements and determination to succeed. I too really enjoy your videos and have got lots of help from them. I have just this second finished watching your story. It is another difficult time for us all with the Covid virus impacting on our work and homelife. Impacting on our very existence in fact. I work in the Theatre industry and we have been hit pretty hard having no "Shows" since March. I went on Furlough at that time with 80% of my wages being paid through the Government. This will soon be done and I'm pretty sure I will be laid off without pay until the Theatre reopens. Also my partner went to visit her Mother in Jamaica this March and got stuck there until 10 days ago. She was involved in a car accident out there so I had to pay for her medication and treatment as well as helping her out with money with food to help her family. I thank God she is now home! In this time I have been using my Carpentry/joinery, painting, decorating and plumbing skills at a local Community centre as a volunteer. It has been really fulfilling and has kept my hand in with the tools. I hope you and your family are well and safe during this time. Love and best wishes from England, Dave.
Dear GeoFatboy, I'm over 70 and the same thing that you talked about happened to me and my wife, kids and I had to move to a rental. We are now trying to get to the point to get a small house. I'm Italian and understand all that you say. You are a terrific person and I support your channel. All the best.
Geo, you are fabulous. I love your videos and you are a phenomenal teacher - with a great sense of humor and without hubris. The fact that you pulled yourself up by the bootstraps after some bad luck increases your credibility and tenacity tenfold. God bless you and your family. You deserve all the success life has to offer. I mean all this sincerely.
I absolutely love the story I too was a tradesman during the 2010 crash and I admire the business you have built and will continue to purchase and watch all of the wet shaving instructions and products that I need God bless you
Fantastic story I wish you and your family all the best for the future. Keep up the good work with the videos I love watching them and I have learned a lot. Take care from Ireland
What a great story. What stuck out to me was that despite being down on your luck the generosity and goodness didn’t stop. Gave your friend a parting gift and the website guy a bottle of wine. Speaks to your character and personality and inspires me to be a better man. Love the videos have great shave have a great day!
Wow thats a touching story since the first video i saw of you back when i had no idea what the hell a saftey razor was or what kind od blades to get or even how to lather shave soap you have brought me to my now passion of wet shaving and because your videos all my guy friends are wet shavers you great man keep up the great job.
GeoFatboy, you’re the man! Thanks for the video and for sharing your story! For the last couple of years have been getting into safety and straight razors and i too enjoy riding! I wish you the best and keep on!
Great story. I'm in Canada and the crash didn't affect me or much of the country the same way it did down there. But some up here suffered but not nearly on the scale as down in your country. I couldn't imagine going thru what you and many others did. That's the great thing about your country (and mine!); you can get knocked down and don't feel like getting back up but you found a new calling and are doing great at it. There's always second chances. If the exchange rate was better I would order from you. Keep up the great work with the videos and I would love to hear more stories.
Hello Mr. Geofatboy, what a great inspirational video. I, too was affected by the economic downturn in 2009-20110. I was a music teacher, who loved classic wet shaving, just like you with motorcycles. These day's I still teach here and there, but nothing close to my success back in 2004 -2009 where I was making plenty of money and had no worries. When the economic downturn happened I was in the same shoes as you were. Using my contacts through music students and their parents, I have been able to turn many fathers, and "grown" students on to traditional wet shaving. I hope in the next few years, whether it's through my own website, Ebay, or Amazon I can make my way through life selling shaving products. Wish me Luck, All the Best, Dan
Watching one of your videos is always a complete delight. It’s like a conversation with a best friend. Your passion and love for your craft comes through from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoy your entrepreneurial spirit and appreciate you sharing your challenges and accomplishments. “Have a great day…have a great shave”.
Geofatboy, im totally inspired by your story, and the painting of Greece behind you is totally making me a customer! I just started shaving with a straight edge (Dovo Shavette) a few weeks ago... i love the process, but not so happy with the shavette! Im going to have to check out shavenation for my next purchase!
Great story. Caught your videos a couple years late, but I would like to say thank you for this good video and for your shaving videos. I learned a lot by watching your videos. I always used some Gillettes I got at the Costco. Ever since the superbowl ad by gillette I never will use anything gillettle again. From you videos, I learned to use shaving cream. I had been using just bars of soap for over 20 years. I started with a safety razor, similar to my previous brand. I soon ventured to use a Feather straight razor. I am still learning how to use it well, and its because you took the time to make some shaving videos that I have learned to shave. It quite a remarkable and fun experience every time.Thank you so much.
Thanks Mr Teko! Better late than never. You followed the natural progression that most Gents take: 1) Toss the Cartridge. 2) Switch to a Safety Razor. 3) after that, jump to a straight razor. 4) After that: Enjoy your shaves! Thank you for your kind words and support.
really nice story!! I've been watching your videos basically since the beginning. i got into wet shaving back in 2008 and by 2010, i was in deep and living it!
Your story is a good one. It reminds me of something a good friend of mine told me a few years ago. “What is the definition of success?”, he asked. “It has nothing to do with money. The definition of success is when you are good at what you do and you love doing it.” It appears as though you’ve met both of those criteria. I appreciate being able to do business with you.
My respect for you has grown manifold Geo! I've seen lows in life too, and I empathize with you. I could feel the pain in your heart as you spoke about your hard times. God is good and always has a plan for His children. I lost my Dad when I was 18 and I grew to be a Medical Doctor as was his wish. I have given 20 years of my life serving the poor and the needy and I'm sure Dad is very proud of me, wherever he may be. And I'm very proud of you dear. That you follow your heart is amply evident in your videos. Do keep them coming. May God bless you. I'm sure your family members are lucky to have someone like you in their lives. Stay strong. Stay safe. Stay healthy. Dr. Basu
GREAT video. A great example of 'Never Give Up, Never Surrender'. I think many will find it helpful. You show that someone with the Drive and Determination, can not be held back. Most impressive.
Well, GFB, this confirms working hard and sturdy will lead to success. Whether god is involved, may be judged with those believers. I don't, but I share yr hard work. Trust yrself. Not to forget, yr livestory is similar to mine. Cheerio, Achim, german, retired in Singapore. Last not least, yr clips are amongst the best, if not t h e best...
Geo, I'm three years late to the party here, but I appreciate this video. Your story reminds me of my dads. Got knocked on his butt several times through no fault of his own, but he used those opportunities to take a few chances and I ended up starting a business with him several years ago that's still going strong. I moved, so i dont have too much to do with it anymore, but he absolutely loves being able to direct his own work, even if the result is that he works all the time. Keep living the dream, brother!
Learned a lot from your videos! Unfortunately I live overseas so with added shipping cost your prices can not compete with local shop's prices. But at least I am a subscriber to your channel.
Thanks, and I'm glad you've picked up some good tips from my vids. I'm always looking for cheaper shipping options. So come back and visit shavenation.com/ every once in a while and see if we can do business!
What an incredible, honest, heartfelt and lovely story from you and how it all began. You really deserve that I order all my shaving things from you from now on. Greetings from southern Germany ❤️🙏
Great! Congrats to you and best wishes to you and your family! You got me into wet shaving, Geo...now here I am, 6 years later, still wet shaving! I'll never forget who led me there!
Haven’t shaved in 8 years picked up a drugstore safety razor and turned to UA-cam. It’s strange being a 38 year old man and trying to learn to shave the right way. Thanks to you and shave nation. Looking forward to using my new jagger and pasaro green shaving cream of witch I ordered from your company. Also I have browsed every shaving co. Website I could find and y’all’s , imo is the best, nothing over the top or ultra fancy, just fast and easy.
I barely turned 20 and if I had never found you, I would still be suffering from razor burns and ingrown hair from the cartridges. I ordered a starter D.E. pack and Shave Nation is now the place for my father and I!
Geo, I do not take your words of wisdom lightly. Life has been kicking my ass these past couple months. I recently got into shaving (the right way) and used your videos to get started. It’s amazing what a little effort and taking pride in your appearance can do for your mind. After that first shave I felt like I was making my way out of the woods and each day I’m getting closer. The simple act of shaving and feeling good also carries over into other aspects of life. Now it’s part of my daily routine to shave and listen to music (usually Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, or BB King) It is great for the soul! From one friend to another I want to thank you for sharing your story and tell you how happy I am for you that you found your path and use it to teach others and bring positivity in the world.
Geo - I am a pastor and very fond of shaving testimony and personal stories of perserverance in a down to earth way. This is what you did here and this may be the best video I have actually watched on all the wet shaving channels. I also appreciate knowing your background and how your company was started. I didn't want to pry and ask you on the channel comments previously. God bless you!
Thanks very much Chris! I actually had a few phone calls at work yesterday thanking me for putting this video out there and saying that this was the best one yet! God bless you as well, and thank you for your support.
This is my favorite video I've ever seen of yours! Thank you for uploading it. It's exactly what I needed to see today. I loved the words you shared at the end. You're a truly inspiring individual.
6 years ago you first taught me how to shave Geo - I think of you kind of like my pops in that regard. Loved hearing the story of how you persevered and launched your business. Hope you bought another bike and are out on the road again!
Your an awesome guy Geo. I started buying things from you a year or two ago the reason??? Wet shaving with a safety razor reminded me and took me back to the time I was a little boy and watched my Dad shave that way. I HATED shaving but after watching few of your videos I now shave every way you do straight razor, a very even the new razorine shavette. I find shaving relaxing now and everytime I do it I think back to when my Mom and Dad were alive it brings back great memories. Thanks for everything you don't even know you have done for me. I'm a 55 year old 1/2 English 1/2 Italian both from the old country man that now enjoys shaving the old way just like my Dad and his Dad before him and so on. My life parallels yours SO CLOSE you wouldn't believe it. I had tragedy, happiness and up and downs just like you. I have been riding Harleys for years and still do, I ride and Ultra Limited. I wish you and your family well and I enjoy the note and the sample in the orders. I also wish you continued success. Your videos help a bunch and your easy to connect to. My wife loves watching me shave and it gives us time to talk nd relax. Thanks again Pat Dorigatti. Wyoming
Geo, it was great to finally hear where you came from in this shaving endeavor! You've taught me so much about shaving, and even drove me to get a razor (well, actually my dad did bc he got tired of paying for the disposable & I got tired of the bumps). I wish I could do business with you, but I don't even have a card (debt or credit). I have some gift cards, but I can't get the one to work online. May the Lord continue to bless you & your family. In Christ we welcome trials & tribulations, bc it is in those times I find, that I am closer to the Lord.
I just placed my first order the other day. A $66.00 order. I received it in three days and did not pay for shipping!!! It also had a hand written note and a free sample of shave soap. I am new to wet shaving. I started watching your videos and have learned a a lot. I was not expecting such fast shipping and such good service. As a small business owner myself, I appreciate the personal touch. I am pretty sure that I will be a Shave Nation customer for the long foreseeable future. Keep up the good work. BTW I ride a Harley Fat Boy!! I am in my late 40"s and have been riding my whole life. I have been shaving every day for 40 years and just started wet shaving. I will never go back to a cartridge ever!!! Thank you and keep up the good work. Are you still putting out new YT videos? I just started watching but most of them are a couple of years old. Maybe I just have not caught up yet?
Wow, what a great story. People tend to look at others who are successful and have no idea what have they had to endure to be there, and think that things are good for those and not them. Life is a boomerang, and what you throw will come back, one way or another, so be good, and throw good things and help others, that it will return to you in good things too. You are a great life example. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for your kind and true comments Martin-The only thing that would make this better is if you were from Australia-you know the boomerang analogy and all :)
Geo, I had no idea, I'm almost speechless. You hitting pretty much rock bottom and then rising to the top with Shave Nation. Wow! I found your videos online a few years ago and am not ashamed to say you taught me how to shave the "correct way". I've ordered from Shave Nation since and I always get a personal handwritten note and sometimes, a free sample (not that it's necessary, but a great gesture and much appreciated). Thanks Geo and my best to you and your family!
What a great story; your work ethic and perseverance are remarkable. I started wet shaving about a month ago after randomly coming across one of your videos on here. Yesterday I received my first (of many) order from shavenation.com. As others have said, as soon as you open the box, your passion for this craft comes through. The items aren't haphazardly thrown in there but rather wrapped with care in paper stamped with "Shave Nation." The items I ordered multiples of were circled on the invoice; great quality control. Finally, a turkish shave stick was added to the order, free of charge with a thank you note on the bag. This is how you run a business. Congrats on all of your success and I look forward to being a long time customer and viewer. Thanks Geo! -Peter
What an inspiring story! I remember seeing some of your early videos when I was back in college and first got into wet shaving. After many years of machine shaving, I recently got the itch to get back into the old school way and started watching some videos. When I saw one of yours, it immediately took me back to years ago when I first watched you. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that your channel had grown so much and that you built a successful business/website. I can't wait to make a purchase soon...looking forward fo getting my own Shave Nation lather bowl. Once again congratulations on your success and wishing you and your family all the best!
Hi Tinto, bit.ly/ShaveNationLatherBowl Thank you very much for your kind words and continued support. I look forward to seeing your name on an order soon!
I know exactly what you you went through when you lost your house and many other things you worked very hard for you and your family. I lost everything I worked for 25 years in less than 24 hours. My own business that I built after many years spent pursuing a post graduate degree, big house, nice cars, summer home all gone. Even my children. I never did anything wrong but to work my butt off for my family. I'm still trying to put the pieces together and figure out what's next. I'm so glad you were able to turn around and become successful doing something you love. This is very inspiring and giving me ideas for the future. I'm a huge fan of your videos and I just learned straight razor shaving thanks to you! Your message brings hope to people who had it all and lost it all but to never give up. Thanks for this inspiring video. God bless you and your family.
Thanks very much for taking the time to write a nice comment. The important things are not the cars, houses and material possessions. It's your family that sticks with you through thick and thin and you all tighten up and make it through! A La Familia!
Great Story -- back in the good old days us old school website designers used to barter our services for goods all the time. Good times. Glad you shared this. Love shaving and motorcycles too.
And that's why you get my business... Thanks for all of the hard work, time and sacrifices you and your family have made. Congrats on your success it is well deserved!!
You're quite an entrepreneur! I had no idea you were an electrician at one time. I've purchased several shave products from Shave Nation and love them all! You're one amazing man! Best of luck always!
Awesome story about the rewards of hard work and perseverance and a little faith thrown in for good measure. I saw that first video and have been a die-hard Shave Nation customer ever since. I get all my shaving supplies exclusively from you. You have good prices and excellent shipping. And because of your videos, I know you stand behind the products you sell. I even took the scary path down straight-razor shaving because of you. Now I can't imagine shaving any other way! Keep up the good work and many blessings on a prosperous future for you and your family!
Your videos got me into DE shaving, and I'm happy to say it's a much better experience than cartridge/disposable shaving. I used to use whatever the latest marketing gimmick over at Gillette came out with - and I got so much razor burn I absolutely hated to shave because of it. Then I found your videos and got started with a very budget Vanderhagen DE with some Astra blades, and the difference is night and day. I actually enjoy my shave now, it's almost therapeutic! No more razor burn, and I very rarely suffer any cuts while shaving now. Thanks for all the great videos, this one is very motivational. Time to look for some new shave soaps to try on ShaveNation!
I have never felt compelled to write a comment or review for any product/video I ever came across. However, after watching several of your videos and then finally this one, I couldn't resist saying something. In all sincerity, Geofatboy has changed my life. I am in my early twenties and I can't believe how foolish I have been by using trimmers, electric shavers, cartridge razors, shaving foam and all sorts of nonsense. I have always believed that perhaps one of the most genuine joys of being a man was 'shaving' and even then I would end up having such irritable shaves that I would keep my interaction with the razor to a minimum, that is once a week (if not two) of shaving. However, I am lucky that I struck upon your videos randomly and now for the rest of my life, I won't have to endure miserable shaving experiences despite loving the whole idea of shaving so deeply. Inspired by one of your videos, I bought myself a Qshave adjustable razor (price being the deterrent against buying Merkur Futur, at a novice stage at least) and all the other paraphernalia including blocks of alum. It has been eye opening, to say the least. Having watched your shaving videos, I had a rough image in my mind of who you might be as a person. Now knowing your story, I have confirmation that you are every bit that man and so much more. I just want to thank you and wish you the best of luck in life.
Hi Geo. Huge respect for the eloquence and honesty you demonstrate here. Although we've never met and probably never will, I was saddened to hear of your difficulties but, primarily, delighted that both through Shave Nation and your positive mindset, things have worked out for you. It was also very humbling to know that despite what was happening in your life in 2010 when we first communicated, you made significant time to respond to my somewhat inane ramblings. A true gent! Thanks and take care. David.
Hi David, It's always great to hear from you! It was a difficult time, and when you're going through things like that it's at times hard to put on your game face and try to be upbeat and do a shaving video. Over the years I've seen a few comments like "this guy looks like he's pissed off" well I guess you can only hide so much. Things are slowly improving, but it's those hard times that make you realize that the most important things are family, friends and not material possessions. Next year I'm seriously planning on taking a real vacation- to Europe. You never know, one day we might meet in person. Thank you for your friendship and kind words. Be well Sir, and my best to the nephew.
Wow! As a customer, I've sometimes wondered how you started your business. What an inspirational story - might I suggest you explore presenting it at business or entrepreneurs' conferences? You say you've been blessed, but you have earned those blessings, brother! Just as your informative videos and personality have earned you satisfied customers like me - I'm sure a lot of us encourage other Gents to follow the path and make shaving a daily activity that is both more fun and more mindful. Or to use your words, to "Have a great shave, have a great day!" May your hard work and dedication continue to bring those blessings to you and your family. I'm a proud member of Shave Nation!
Thanks so much for your encouraging words and support Scott! If it wasn't for Gents like you, there would be no Shave Nation. I'll keep working hard and look forward to future business with you and everyone else!
I have such a huge respect for this gentleman. Extremely well done Mr. Geo. Just awesome and I will be a patron. Simply outstanding and an absolute excellent summary. Huge respect as I said before. :-)
Greetings from Texas. I just recently started watching your videos and I have decided that when my monthly check gets in I'm going to be doing business with you. After watching this story it's cemented by decision. I was born legally blind and I had to fight my way through a bunch of stuff but I spent 20 plus years and information technologies. And 2012 I lost my wife to suicide and then three or four years after that I lost a job I had for 16 years and then about 3 years after that due to another issue I was born with I started having to walk with a walker and I can no longer walk on my own without some sort of assistance and some days even a wheelchair. You are correct when you say that you feel that that was the path God had set before you for the time you were born because I feel the same way. Making changes in our lives is a good thing from getting rid of negative attitudes to even if something is mundane is changing the way we shave and making it unjoyable process instead of just another daily task! We will be doing business soon my friend!
God, what an embodiment of American unextiguishable optimistic spirit. Simple working Man - the salt of the Earth - overcame all obstacles , thrown at him and his family by the fate, and came out on the other side as an iconic American enterpreneurial winner. Humbled and wish all the best!
That really hit home Geo. I just got my first big contract after 2 years of little piddly daily or at most weekly contracts (technology field technician). Although I did my best to keep up a good presence for my family, cinch up the bootstraps, and keep things on an even keel - I did not realize just how bad the pressure had gotten on me until I landed that new contract. Knowing the next 6 months is completely covered, with enough to take care of the next year if necessary - I thought I was going to break down all of a sudden. But, you know what helped smooth it all out? I went in, soaked up a hot towel, and took my time zoning out on a sweet shave. It's the best man - and I truly believe that your videos and products have kept me sane the last couple of years! :) All the best man. Thanks for sharing.
Woh! That is awesome Optimus! Congrats to you for scoring that deal and putting yourself and your family in a good position. Keep your nose to the grindstone, work hard, and be a good person. Your family will recognize it and follow in your footsteps. Don't ever quit! I love the fact that a 5-10 minute shave with a safety or straight razor is the Zen-Master moment that puts us in a positive frame of mind to conquer the world!

Sadly, I shave with my grandfather's Cadman straight razor. Over 100 years old now and still hones and strops up. However, I always watch geofatboy's videos. This gentleman exemplifies how to overcome adversity, stay positive and lead a decent life.
Just started DE Safety Razor shaving(i'm 4 shaves in) and have watched a bunch of your videos. As I've been watching, I started thinking that this Geofatboy guy seems like cool dude, someone I would sit and have a beer with. Watching this video and hearing your story affirms what I was thinking. You are a hell of a nice guy. I have not purchased from your website yet but I will next time I need supplies. Great videos, fun to watch. Keep em coming.
I'm glad you enjoyed the story of how everything started, and I'm very thankful for your support of ShaveNation.com
geofatboy Thank You, Geo! Because of you, I get great Shaves!!!
Awesome video Geo. You have me as a customer for life keep up the good work!
Best UA-cam shaver.
Thanks Three-Love that!

*This guy achieved success because he was ready when the opportunity came. Best DE shaver on UA-cam today* ‼️
Just awesome! May God bless you and your business 10 folds and your entire family as well. Shaving Nation is the way to go!!!!
Thanks very much Vic! I greatly appreciate that! And you as well.
Greetings from Greece, amazing story!!
Yiasou!
Best f'n part of the video starts at 8:19. Might be a Chicago thing, but as being from there, I get it and live it.
Leo Dodier well said Leo!👍👏
Thanks Stephen-When one door closes another door opens... Sometimes you gotta pull it open! Keep up the good work and best to you and your health.
What a great story! Just goes to show you're never a loser until you give up....so just don't give up. I'm heading over to shave nation to buy something right now. You deserve to be reimbursed for all the shaving educational videos you've made.
Thanks Mike!
Great example of what everyone should strive for. Being resilient is important
Like REO says-"Keep Pushin' On!"
Thanks again
Justin

Justin-Thank you for your service and your support! You're never too old to learn a new craft. I speak with Gents every day from 15 to 80 looking to improve their shave!
I only order my shaving stuff from you, I tell ya, the little freebie and the hand written thanks speak volumes about your appreciation for your customers, and I hope the customers turning to you for their shaving products speaks volumes about how much we value you.
Thanks Colin! You're the best!
brings tears to my eyes... What an inspiring story. Thanks for the encouragement!
If I was there I'd hand you a Kleenex! Thanks much!
I am from Taiwan and used to lived in Denver,Colorado. Your video teach me lots of knowledge about web shaving and now I have three safety razors. Thank you Geofatboy. I enjoy your videos and see your face from a young man to a gentleman.
Wonderful! Thanks Thomas-I like the way you phrased that.
God bless you Geo. You are a hard worker and have built back. Respect.
Thank you Al! Greatly appreciated.
That settles it. I’m placing my order with you tomorrow morning. Love the videos and love the background. I look forward to doing business with you for many years to come.
Hi Geo,
Dave from England here. Love and best wishes from England,
Dave.
Much love from Montréal!
Gotta respect the one-take with no editing.
Thanks very much for your heartfelt comments Doc! They give me incentive to keep going!
I absolutely love the story I too was a tradesman during the 2010 crash and I admire the business you have built and will continue to purchase and watch all of the wet shaving instructions and products that I need God bless you
Thanks Randy! Keep pushin' on!
Fantastic story I wish you and your family all the best for the future. Keep up the good work with the videos I love watching them and I have learned a lot. Take care from Ireland
All the way from the Emerald Isle! Thanks and I'm glad you liked it Anthony.
What a great story. What stuck out to me was that despite being down on your luck the generosity and goodness didn’t stop. Gave your friend a parting gift and the website guy a bottle of wine. Speaks to your character and personality and inspires me to be a better man. Love the videos have great shave have a great day!
Thanks so much. I think it basically comes down to having good manners. Just do the right thing...
That comment right there shows me what kind of parents you must have had. You don't have to help people, you get to.
Wow thats a touching story since the first video i saw of you back when i had no idea what the hell a saftey razor was or what kind od blades to get or even how to lather shave soap you have brought me to my now passion of wet shaving and because your videos all my guy friends are wet shavers you great man keep up the great job.
Nice Qazi-That's what it's all about spread the word and share the love!
I need to check out ypur website and expand my collections de blades
This was beautiful, thank you for teaching a 26 year old like me, life changing lessons. I'm honoured sir
You are very welcome
GeoFatboy, you’re the man! Thanks for the video and for sharing your story! For the last couple of years have been getting into safety and straight razors and i too enjoy riding! I wish you the best and keep on!
Nice! Its good ti have a few hobbies to spice things up-shaving, bikes, cigars, etc :)
Thanks for uploading this. Most people are too cowardly to talk about struggles they encounter in life (and we ALL encounter them). Inspirational.
Thanks very much! Like Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon said: "Keep Pushin' On!"
Thanks for sharing. Glad to have patronized you in the past. Will continue to do so in the future!
Thanks so much LONDON!
Amazing story. So happy for your success and may it continue
Thanks Moses-Great name by the way!

From Martin in the UK, all your straight shave videos are fabulous Geo, I've learned such a lot as a ancient newbie shaver 🙏👍.
Awesome Martin-Thanks!
Geo- you’re Greek?!? I just subscribed to your FB page and Im seeing my other home, Athens GR!!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🍻🍻🍻
Thanks for much for you kind words and support. I appreciate you!
That's awesome Nav! Thank you for your support over the years.
Great video and story. Great life advice. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and story with us Geo. Wishing you continued success.
You Da Man Ronnie! Thanks for the kind words. All the best to you and your family.
Dr. Basu
Awesome video.. thanks for making and sharing this.
Thanks Boogey.
GREAT video. A great example of 'Never Give Up, Never Surrender'. I think many will find it helpful. You show that someone with the Drive and Determination, can not be held back. Most impressive.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks very much for your positive words!

I was moved by your story. I wish you and your family even more success. God bless you.
Thank you very much for the kind words Vigilius !
Thanks very much! Retired? Good for you! Enjoy it.
Thanks very much for your positive comments Frank! Best from the USA!
"Even Conan O'brian knows who Geofatboy"......awesomeness!

Great! Congrats to you and best wishes to you and your family! You got me into wet shaving, Geo...now here I am, 6 years later, still wet shaving! I'll never forget who led me there!
6 years? You got in just after I got going with it! Thanks for your kind words and support.
Awesome Bro!

Oh, will you date me? 😆💈
Lol! Thanks very much James! As you know-I'm already spoken for! Take care my friend.
Thanks for sharing Kameel! I appreciate your support and kind words.

Lol! Conan just earned points in my book.
Thanks for such a sincere story, the world needs more people like you!
Why thank you!
I barely turned 20 and if I had never found you, I would still be suffering from razor burns and ingrown hair from the cartridges. I ordered a starter D.E. pack and Shave Nation is now the place for my father and I!
Ignacio-Thank you for your kind words and support!
Austin-Thank you for your kind words and support! Enjoy your shaves.

And to you also sir. Have a great shave, have a great day.
I'm one of your followers from Bahrain 🇧🇭 you are the best in the UA-cam channel. All the best my friend
Thank you Sadiq! Best to you from the USA.
Hey Geo, just wanted to say that I really appreciate your “real” approach towards your videos, and your customers. Great story,
Thanks so much Rui! Greatly appreciated.
Fair play to you.👍
Love and respect from the UK!

Well spoken, nice to see someone use their family as inspiration to be successful👍
Family was part of it...
Really appreciate your shaving videos, they got me wet shaving and I'm loving it. As you say Geo "a Zen moment". You deserve every success!
I appreciate that! Thanks Bradley.
An inspiring video that goes way beyond shaving! I started using a de razor as I had a Gillette Rocket lying around which belonged to my grandpa!
Thanks! Hand me down razors are the best!
And that's why you get my business... Thanks for all of the hard work, time and sacrifices you and your family have made. Congrats on your success it is well deserved!!
Thank you for your support!
You're quite an entrepreneur! I had no idea you were an electrician at one time. I've purchased several shave products from Shave Nation and love them all! You're one amazing man! Best of luck always!
Amazing story. An example to follow worldwide. Never surrender! Greetings from Spain
You got that right Agustín! Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/-4pg6Jh94Lo/v-deo.html
Thanks so much Tony I'm very happy to have earned your business and your support over the years!
Thanks! Most who switch to a DE never go back to the cartridge.
I started watching your videos several years ago. I learnt wet shaving from you.
Thank you for your long term support!
Just placed my first shave nation order and glad to support the business!
Geo is the best. Good man and good story. He always makes videos with his simplicity and charisma. My total respect to you, Sir Geo. 🎩💈
I have no words to describe how important and inspiring your words are. The best of luck to you and your family!
Thank you so much!
Thanks very much for your kind words D.
All the best man.
