      All I did was push the wires into the connection…. Nothing was unplugged…. Once the light was off i secured wires with tape…Had to unbolt the seat and lean it back to reach the connectors…. The wires get pulled on from the rear floor mats being pushed under the seat over time…. Hope that makes sense.

    It looks like the pins are loose, it would be better to unplug it and check to make sure the pins are tight and making a good contact. Also a zip tie would work better as with the tape the heat or cold can cause it to get loose

      Those are great suggestions! Thank you. This is purely a temporary fix for someone that perhaps doesn’t have the skill to do it that way or the money to take it to a mechanic. The main thing is to get the light off so that the airbags are functional. I really do appreciate the suggestions and thank you so much for watching! 💯👊🏾

      @@shlattwidow3109 I used electrical tape, but later I went back and used zip ties which will hold better over time. For me the light has not come back on... So it's more of a permanent fix. The hope is that if you do this...It will last and you won't have to spend a lot of money for someone else to fix it... True DIY.... Have a wonderful evening!

    There should be a disclaimer advising to proceed with your own caution because working with an airbag system could be dangerous. Also id advise to torque down the seat rail bolts to spec, as it can be a safety concern…

    • @ogsuperflygarage
      @ogsuperflygarage  Рік тому +4

      I appreciate your suggestions and concern. There was no danger ⚠️ involved here because the airbag was not disconnected. If I were going to unplug it then safety precautions would have been taken and advised! 💯Thank you for taking the time to watch. 👊🏾

    This is not a fix, cutting plug out completely , adding in joining wire and soldering and using heat shrink is best solution.

    Makes sense. Have you thought of using zip ties, front to back? They will keep them tight with no problem and worries of tapes coming loose due to summer heat.
    Let me know your thoughts.

    Hi. Do we really need to removed seat bolts? Is it possible to reach under and do this? If a person is small enough? So there is no need to disconnect battery? Thank you

    • @ogsuperflygarage
      @ogsuperflygarage  Рік тому +3

      I removed the seat for demonstration purposes. Yes if a person(s) hands are small enough it can be done without removing the seats. In my opinion…Disconnecting the battery Is always the best and safest option. Doesn’t take that long.

      @@ogsuperflygarage ok thank you. Do you recommend unplugging and spraying something inside there, like wd40? And maybe using a ziptie?

    • @ogsuperflygarage
      @ogsuperflygarage  Рік тому +3

      @@c.518 I would not spray anything into the plug. I would push the wires in to ensure they connected then wrap in electrical tape just as I did... Then secure to the bottom of the seat with zip ties if you wish...Keep in mind that it could be the wires under either seat.. push the wires in place and then check to see if the airbag light goes off...etc.. If that doesn't work please take you vehicle to the dealership or ASE Certified mechanic...

    Great video man! Is there a way of diagnosing if the airbag light is being caused by the seat before pulling the seats out / taping up the connections?

    • @ogsuperflygarage
      @ogsuperflygarage  Рік тому +3

      Thanks Bro! I honestly don’t know if there is a way to diagnose it before the seat out. I did a lot of research and found that the wires under one of the seats is usually the cause of the airbag light coming on about 90% of the time. Personally I would rather spend the time removing the seat than the money at a dealership or shop. Just my opinion.

      I bought a fault code reader, it narrowed down the possibilities. Took it to a repair shop for new connectors but the warning light came back after a few months. Going to try zip ties next.
      Storing the detachable tow bar under the driver's seat might have been the cause of the original issue, but doesn't explain why it came back with new connectors. I suspect the plugs are just a weak design.

    • @ogsuperflygarage
      @ogsuperflygarage  9 місяців тому +1

      Hey Brother I appreciate you! I am sorry, but honestly the best advice I could give you is to check the wiring under both the drivers seat and the passenger seat. If that doesn’t work I would take it to a mechanic because the issue goes beyond the scope of what I repaired. 👊🏾👊🏾
