    Thank you! I had the same complaint about all of the other videos and was missing the info about the separate neutral. Very good and helpful video.

    You rock for making it simple.... Your video is the reason I kept searching for other videos on how to convert a freezer to a refrigerator.... For the very exact reason that you made this video because like you said one moment they showed you one thing and the next thing it was finished and you have no idea how they did it.... So I want to thank you man for going through all of that effort to make this as simple as possible for somebody that is uneducated with electricity like me even I can do this so thank you..

    Good info on wiring this unit. I'm using it on a fridge/freezer and trying to maintain the freezer part while using the fridge as a fermentation chamber for making beer. I'll be using the heating function too which I guess I can splice into the same hot for the unit and cooling.

      Marcus Green yea, this stc1000 is a duel stage thermostat so it can do both hot and cold, make sure you don't buy a single stage that can only do hot or cold....

    Kudos to you, TLM! You have a real gift for explaining things so clearly. I even have a Magic Chef freezer, too! I do have a question about the diagram on top of STC-1000. My STC-1000 is identical to yours, but the diagram doesn't seem to match your wiring. Can you help me understand that? Also, where did you mount STC-1000 and the temp probe? Thanks!

    • @theloosemoose8200

      +Mike Reid mine is a duel phase thermostat, you might have a single phase model. I mounted my sensor uthe middle of the back with plastic clips and down into the freezer with the same clips. The sensor sits right at the inside step, it's also held off the wall so it gets a true air reading...

    Good video.👍 Would have been nice to see if you used the original temperature sensor, or if you had to fit a new sensor? If you did fit a new sensor, how did you position it in the freezer?

    • @theloosemoose8200
      @theloosemoose8200  Місяць тому

      The device came with a new sensor so I just used that, I positioned it 3/4 down the backside of the freezer (inside). That was the best position for what temp I was aiming for.

    When u splice it, now you have 3 hots and one neutral. Where does the neutral going out go?

    dag bro you couldnt find some brown wire for the hot and kept the neutral black confusing the hell out of me how you tapping it out and back into the circuit good looking out though i gave you like 3 frigging views and you prolly got another 3 more coming ya way God bless you bro...

    Great video! You get right to the main issue, the thermostat! You show Excatly what i needed for a commercial chest freezer, found your video after spending hours on videos that said they'll show how to wire but never showed the thermostat! Thanks, i got it running, but cannot get it programmed to go below its factory set point. Any ideas?

      Don't remember the details, it's been so long but if you have the same one just keep messing with it... I followed the program instructions and it worked.

    Hello I have come across your video on converting a freezer in to a fridge I have a freezer I bought that 2 days ago and I already had a very similar (older model) thermostat controller I wired it up like you have on your video. And I got it to run my freezer ok. I have the stat set to 5c but I put the sensor where the original old one went but I was finding the freezer was going 5c and shutting off like its meant to but the temp kept dropping to around - numbers but the inside the freezer there was no ice build up at all. I did try the sensor attached to the wall in the freezer and that’s giving me readings of around 0.0 but it does in time creep back up to what i set 5c. I was wondering if you might be able to help in any way get it more stable. I am testing the fridge empty not sure if that would make any difference

    • @theloosemoose8200

      All thermostats work the same but have slight variation in how they balance the temp.. On mine, i set the temp and then set another higher twmp for when i want ot to kick back on.. For instance, i want my fridge to be 33° so i set my chill temp at 30° and my restart temo at 36°.. This makes my freezer stay halfway (33°) between those numbers...its an balancing act you need to find with your specific set-up, and yes, a full fridge will act differently..

    At 8:55 you say 48 volts but you have everything spliced up to line voltage 120?
    Or are you running the controller on 48 volts somehow?
    Pretty sure all of your control wiring is stepped down, so you are under-voltage on the controller?

    • @theloosemoose8200
      @theloosemoose8200  5 років тому

      For whatever reason the 120v going into the freezer junction box before the compressor steps it down to 48v for the thermostat /light wiring circuit. I didnt take apart the box to see exactly what's going on but the controller and freezer work perfect and its been over 1 year now..thats the truth of the situation, sorry i cant give a more technical answer...

    I did a chest freezer with the 12v thermostat to control a small inverter on and off. Tough to find the right inverter, needs to be one with a switch, not a button and pure sine wave, started with a 600w and downsized to 300. The system works great and draws about 70wh probably less once food and thermal mass is in there and stabilized. Drops like 2 degrees in an hour while off, in a hot garage. Probably going to install the 110v into the fridge as well so that both systems are properly controlled.

      I'm not really complaining but, why open the access door. Turn the temp control on freezer to the coldest. On your remote controller. Wire in a receptacle (where you put the wires for the compressor). Then simply plug in the freezer, and plug in the remote controller. Set the temperature...

    Just curious but instead of splicing it couldnt you just run a jumper from #1 to #7 if theres enough room for 2 wires in #1??? Thanks.
