Yay Yuffie sidequest! My favorite part of the game! I always replay this bit over and over!!!
Even after finding the materia trick. They still found a way to chill in the materia menu for a while 😂 Can't get enough of them menus.
Menuing is literally half the game if you play it right 🤣
It’s pure authenticity. You haven’t fully experienced an rpg if you haven’t spent hours wasting time in the menus.
How the hell did he do that? That's something I'm unaware of. Everyday is a school day. 28 year old game stop surprising

and after meeting chocobo sage he has to do some chocobo breeding / racing. the chocobo race at gold saucer was loads of fun. i think dave will like it to a certain extent
There is no way Dave could've taken on the Gelnika at those Levels... even for the considerable rewards! 😄

#VODsquad If you press the assist button in a battle, you can see the name of the target you're targeting and any HP/MP of a monster you've sensed...once you get your materia back
You can actually just land right next to the city of the ancients, inside that crack in the ground for some reason (even though it’s not grass)

You know what’s weird? The game doesn’t call it the Sister Ray until it’s moved to Midgar, but when you climb on it as Tifa in Junon, it says “Sister Ray” on the side of the cannon. I noticed that on your playthrough.
yeah its always been the sister ray. i think it must be a glitch or something. always named in tribute to the velvet underground

When I was a kid playing this, I didn’t have the internet to look up the code for the huge materia in the rocket. I wrote out every possible combination so X.X.X.X, X.X.X.O and so on and then tried them all in turn reloading the game when I failed. It took quite some time to land on the right combination.
I respect the commitment. I'm even less impressed with kid me learning it from the only other kid in my class who had already played the game. 😅
That sounds like it took quite a lot of patience.
Could be worse I didn't get it. And didn't get it till a couple years later when I downloaded a guide that had the code
You can land the highwind right next to the city of the ancients. No need to go through the sleeping forest.

You can do Midgar. All the side quests available now are still available on Disc 3.

It happens if you play on PS5 - was a pain during a recent replay of mine. I think the port is a bit buggy. It's fine on a PS4 though!

10 minutes into the video, and as soon as you see rocket town, I'm like, ⭕️🟥❌️❌️
Right important points!
*keep info bar at bottom of screen during fight and the sense info stays in the bar
*big gaurd in enemy skill is like m barrier and barrier for all.
*you can land next to mushroom thing near city of the ancients.
*press run away for a split second when back attacked to right the direction you're facing.
*shinra mansion basement has another scene worth checking out.
*will Dave be breeding chocobos to gain access to various secret areas?

If Robenhaugen tells Dave what the giant materia is really for, Dave has lots of grinding ahead of him
Wutai.... in this case it's going to be the calm before the storm.
I've only been catching the VOD lately, as work has been crazy. Ho hum.
I think you can swap materia by the players name and swap both weapon and armor all same time.
I always do the Wutai side quest much much earlier than this. But any of the random side quests disrupt the ending tension. Chattinf with Chocobo Sage certainly doesnt scream "end of times".
Think about grabbing the Contain Materia sometime!! Want to see that in action. Scratch the white chocobo behind the ear and give him a mimmett green 💚 🐔
He doesn't respond though if you don't have enough Greens, and Dave hadn't bothered with that side of things, so...
Did Rob say to give Yuffie the long range materia? And Barrier? When she already has enemy skill Big Guard available?

Don't really like the Wutai sidequest but at least it means more episodes before it ends
Also, when Dave says Magic Source is sounds like magic sauce, which I giggled at. Dave gives Dave all the magic sauce to make him more powerful
how can you not like it? it reveals so much about a different culture - the last bastion against Shinra.

You could've landed just past Bone Village right next to the entrance past the sleeping forest. Would've saved a couple minutes. Going to be a shame for this to end, maybe more Final Fantasy lets plays?

It's hard to believe we are getting so close to the end. And there is still so much to do. There is powerful naturally formed materia to collect. The Chocobo Sage will reveal more every 10 battles. Chocobo Racing & the Battle Arena at the Gold Saucer have some good prizes. Don't forget at the bottom of the ocean there is the sunken ship with the tough enemies (and some other things).
And that's just a few things. Also, a lot of that you can do after your revisit to Midgar though the rewards may be different. In fact, you have to wait until after that revisit to get Cloud's....uh, I mean Dave's...Level 4 Limit Break and Red XIII's ultimate weapon.
With a gold chocobo, or even a mountain one, I think, you can bypass bone village and go right to the City of the Ancients because you can walk right to the exit of the sleeping forest bit.
You can also land the ship on the path inside the ravine, directly outside the Forgotten City.

Don't worry Dave. Deep down even Robenhagen knows that everyone should see Wutai at least once. This is the Way.

All I can say is if Rob really thinks the Wutai side quest is boring, then (1) he doesn't remember it that well (which is clear since there was no reason to do Yuffie's materia yet), and (2) he could have had Dave do it during a less climactic part of the game. What's the point of getting Yuffie anyway, if you don't do this bit of the game?

Nah, even if the four Large Materia are on it doesn't work. Shinra even knows it isn't going to work. Especially since the characters know that feeding Meteor more Lifestream energy is a bad idea.

I have beaten this game over 10 times. Probably closer to 20. I have never seen that cutscene with the plane taking off from Junon. My mind is blown.
Also Dave don’t forget. You can select the character’s name to move all of their materia in one go.

Wutai is at war with Shinra. It's vital to extend the world building.
I really am going to have to go back to ep 1. I still cant get out of that big corp building at the beginning... its a maze...

If you can beat Emerald you get a set for free... no mean feat, I know, but easier than 1000 hours + Grinding 😉

I have been screaming this nearly every week. Surprised people weren't going nuts in the live chat each time he took 5 minutes to exchange materia. The funny thing is I don't think he has to do it again 😂

You don't need to earn every limit break to use the 4th level, you only need to unlock the first level 3 limit. You could have used Cosmo Canyon episodes ago.

Ahh, so the quest Rob was initially mad at was the Pagoda one, and he had completely forgotten about the materia quest.
Rob, this has the Turks, Don Corneo and Yuffie back story. It's a *brilliant* quest!

So fun fact, if you have enough materia in your inventory, yuffie hits a limit and you still keep whatever is over her limit.
Really!?😮 Did NOT know this. I think I've never skipped the area once it's reachable so not enough materia at that point.
I lost count of how many times I said “STEAL” at my phone during Diamond Weapon fight.
diamond weapon was far too easy. nothing exciting about the fight at all...
The Sun Set on that one 🥲 No biggie, though. Dave doesn’t really use Yuffie

what does Rob have against Wutai though...the 'ruins the momentum of the story' argument doesn't really hold water because the player isn't forced to do the sidequest only at this point in the game, they could have done the quest earlier on. disclaimer that Rob is my favourite access member and I basically discovered the channel through his videos but it is pretty bizarre how his mood suddenly soured around the whole Wutai thing. I do get the annoyance around viewers being pushy and backseating about stuff but I'd honestly rather Dave skip it if Rob is going to be so miserable throughout the entire quest.
Honestly, I was more annoyed at them returning to Bone Village to dig for the Sector 7 key before fighting Diamond Weapon. Talk about a momentum killer 😅
