One small thing (as my wife always says), if you are going to be doing a lot of sanding, and you will be doing a lot of sanding, is to try to get a ROS that has low vibration. I got a cheap one and ended up with a case of trigger finger. I went with a Mirka clone (Sealey DAS150PS) and it is a real game changer. I love my Metabo thicknesser, it's been a real beast!
Bosch has this new circ saw on the mitre track (based on the mafell design) which also works on their track saw tracks. This saw will do you more love then a track saw i think, since i use my mafell mitre circ saw 10 times more then the track saw. Also an expensive random orbital sander changes the sanding game, would really recommend spending money on that
its the cross cutting saw. Not worth it unless you're a framer. You better off buying their normal circular saw with the track guide base. You can use makita, festool or cheaper tracks with it. Bosch track saws are too expensive for what they are(450 eur) I would rather buy a festool at that point.
@zaxmaxlax personally i use this saw for everything, replaced the mitre saw and plunge saw olmost completely for me, also in furniture etc. Not sure about the bosch but would never waste my money on the expensive plastic that festool sells, then just buy the mafell, better tracks, better everything.
Nice job Pete glad to see you back. Think I agree with everything on the list except the router (scare shit out me) if your looking at track saw mate i can highly recommend the Bosch cordless one i have it its up there with the maffel and festool but less pricey. Makita is good cheaper option though. If you can buy it without the track for bit cheaper do it and buy evolution track its multi brand compatible and think its2.6m plus clamps and bag for 100 quid very good. And on the clamp front my recommendation f clamps and pipe clamps 🏴👍
Love this video Pete. I'm fortunate that in my day job I get to work with people and on occasion build bird boxes and hedgehog houses but I like to challenge these people who often have little to no experience so I start the session by stating that we will be building a bird box or hedgehog house with limited tools and then I give them a pencil, tape measure, combination square, tenon saw, hand screwdriver and clamps. I also get the cordless drill/driver out and state that's just for piloting screw holes. so fare we are around 30 hedgehog houses and around 67 birdboxes built and sold on to raise money for a charity of the people building the items choice. I also always discuss don't go blowing you life savings on tools buy as you go and upgrade them as you go so if you have tool untouched for 6months do you really need it? and why upgrade it?
Fantastic video! Not a woodworker by any means myself, pretty obvious when you see my table build... However just wanted to give an idea. Have you looked in to Parkside woodworking tools? Parkside would be for strictly beginner DIY level, however I think a dirt cheap way to get in to this stuff.
I’ve heard some good things about the Lidl stuff, though I’ve never tried them so can’t say for sure. I reckon anything that gets you into the craft is good!
Mt Hobbie is buying stuff, I may use it, but having it is the thing. Being in my eighties, I want things not available when I was working for a living.

"Yes"
It's the little things that take the most takes 😅
@@northernworks She does a stellar job.

Erm, soz but the no 5 is the Jack plane. Cos it's small enough to smooth but long enough to joint boards
🤦♂️ good shout
