Whisky.com reviews the Black Bowmore. This is our 100th video! And to celebrate this Horst Luening opens a bottle of the Black Bowmore.
We don't want to tell too much about the bottle. Watch for yourself.
Nose:
Very aromatic, oak, toffee, exotic fruits, papaya, little alcohol, light cinnamon, very faint smoke, spice, dark fruits
Taste:
Mouthwatering, strong, dark chocolate, slight bitterness, over ripe mango, ginger, spice, very in the back smoke
Finish:
Long, creamy, warm

For such a once-in-a-lifetime whisky, I must say that Horst didn't seem very blown away by this legendary bottling. I know many people count this as their pinnacle/grail whisky (me included), so I guess I was just expecting a bit of a stronger reaction- I have seen him react more strongly to several much cheaper whiskies. I wonder how he'd react to the famous 1966 Bowmore Bouquet by Samaroli.
He didnt let it oxidize at all, old whiskies honestly truly need a lot of time in the glass. They go from nothing to unreal with time in the glass. Just tried a 40yr port askaig Bunnahabhain, let it sit for an hour nosing it along the way, it went from almost odorless to insanely fruity and aromatic in that time

Do you have 1000euros to spend? Then yes, a couple has these extremely exclusive whiskey's.
Oldest I had was home made, 38 years old.
Imagine working on one product somebody started 40 odd years ago there must be like 3 generations in that bottle
Funning thing is, it would've felt like another day of work for that bloke LOL!! He would've had no idea he was filling up what would soon become a legendary bottling.

Remember it's whiskey not mouthwash. Sloshing it in you're mouth isn't necessary to pick up the flavors..
why other old whiskies arent this black?

@Valdis4418 other oloroso cask matured whiskies from that year from other distilleries isnt that dark
That one dram probably cost around 100 EUR.
drpapa26 closer to 750-1000$ a dram. Each bottle goes for 20K USD.
