    As somebody with a degree in Model Making and SFX for Film & TV I like what I see here. Good job Eric. I see a few things where you could make life easier for yourself but there are 2 things everyone watching this should take away with them. (1) sanding areas before gluing. If you have 2 smooth shiney plastic surfaces it really helps to add some "grip" by roughing up the surface. (2) the way you add rivets and fine details by placing a little glue to a scrap piece to the side and then dip your small bits into that before positioning is another great hack. This prevents lots of mess around your fine details.
    Obviously there is a lot more to what you do than that, but for beginners these 2 techniques are great to use. The way you see everyday items and their potential for terrain pieces and how to put them together is something that comes with time and experience. From there practice makes perfect.

    That looks incredible Eric! When you mentioned that you started the build with the intention of making it a shantytown, it made me think just how amazing those gang boxes are. I remember using those with no extra bits on them as bunkers back in Rogue Trader/2nd ed. era 40k. It's almost like they are some basic STC pattern building that everything gets built up around. Actually not a bad idea to use them for residential buildings too. Would tie the scenery together with a similar looking architectural style across your game board. Looking forward to part 2! Cheers!

    • @EricsHobbyWorkshop
      @EricsHobbyWorkshop  5 років тому +4

      Agreed! The patterns for gang boxes are definitely known to and archived by the Adeptus Mechanicus at this point. I also saw them as standardized storage containers that have been modified various purposes. I still plan to do a shanty town at some point so may use a few in that build!

      Adam Marciniak They are pretty durable. I think I have a high heat glue gun which definitely bonds better than my old dollar store one. Some plastics bond better than others too... i might cover this topic in a future video

      @@EricsHobbyWorkshop I did not know there can be a heat/temperature difference between then glueguns, thank you! I need to check out more about it.

    Another fantastic video!
    1 little tip, mate: can you figure out how to include the links to your other videos that you mention in your commentary? (those are the corresponding links that normally pop up in the top right corner of the video).
    I'm thinking if the links to those other videos are as easily accessible as possible, you'll end up getting more views to those other vids 🙂

    I tried building something like this but making all the parts out of empty cereal boxes (cardboard). I was a nightmare and i hate the result -.- Guess it's really worth it to make your life easy by using pre existing stuff.

      @@EricsHobbyWorkshop because I can't afford to support creators the way I want to and Sophie's Choice makes me feel bad. Tip jar is a general term, you might also hear coffee fund. It just means something that allows your supporters to give you a one-time donation. Like PayPal.

    Heya good lookin. I have a challenge for you. Instead of heavily weathered grimdark terrain, why don't you attempt a clean look terrain build. Like something straight out of a fresh ship, straight off the line. 🤔
