That gorilla glue tip is great, and the timing couldn't be better for me. Im building a butcher herd and these minotaurs need foamy mouths. Thank you very much!
Dark matter workshop, the kind of guy who buys appliances just for the packaging,😁 ..... joke's aside that was amazing!! The use of the waste pipe was genius, the pouring I could watch for hours!!
You promised that you'd cover the algae bloom technique and you did not disappoint. Stunning work sir. I am a big believer in repurposing found objects for wargames terrain and you are a true champion of this ethos. I cannot wait to see the full finished piece. It looks like it will be a rather substantial build.
The idea with the styro base was great! I mean nobody actually HAS such a thing laying around, but IF you do, you are set and ready for something awesome! I would have added some tanks with ladders and piping...like some sewage plant!
This is some legit alchemy. I love how much you can do by mixing craft grade, wargame grade, and hardware materials to make magic out of trash! This piece is so evocative and fun!
A man who delivers on his promises! Absolutely amazing! I never would have guessed what you'd used as the basis for this. I figured the algea blooming was caused by some crazy materials work and never would have guessed how simple it was. This technique would make for great toxic pools for a post-apoc game or a Tyranid Reclaimation pool. One question though - do the differnent colors of the pour need to be layered in one cup or can it be done with using cups of the different colors kept separate. Reason I ask is that for smaller pools it would be difficult to judge just how much to use.
Thanks ! You can add magical portals, alien terrain, etc.. to that list. Yes the paints need to be in the same cup for the marbling effect to happen. Check out this video for tips regarding volume : ua-cam.com/video/mYJtbZ0nPgk/v-deo.html
I came here from the plug from Black magic craft's video, and your segment on adding the paint layer and then hitting with the hot air gun blew my mind. WOW! Very cool and the effect is amazing! Awesome work!
Great work. This is the video that finally inspired me to get started with the hobby. The pouring technique bridged the cognitive gap between my art background and rpg hobby, which was blocking my creativity.
Came over from midwinter minis and I gotta say I'm impressed! You clearly have passion for your work and enjoy what you do and it shows in your work. I absolutely love the toxic pool and might make my own little variation one day and can't thank you enough!
Tip for future concrete painting. Try adding Deck Tan (or other pale browns/beiges) to give the look of old, worn concrete. It's a common assumption that concrete is grey in colour - until you really start to look.
Agreed, let’s ad water isn’t blue, wood isn’t brown, etc..😉 The reason why i didn’t ad more browns was to get more contrast between the soil and the concrete. Good tip ! Thanks for watching.
Gert I started watching you. But have since subscribed and watched 20 videos and counting. As I stated in one video you have an incredibly subtle humor that is fantastic!! Glad to have found you!!
That foam seems more robust than it first looked. I thought that it would melt from the hot glue, and when cutting pieces from the top when work started on the platform, it didn’t crumble into little balls.
Lot’s of quality differences in polystyrene packaging. This piece is indeed quite firm. It does melt from hot glue, but very little. Use a sharp blade when cutting polystyrene. Thanks for watching !
Hi! I think it will be a big job to fix Luke's ears, but good luck to you! Your toxic waste pool is very cool. I just saved some styrofoam packaging myself recently because it resembles an industrial building. Love finding inspiration in daily things around us. Thank you for sharing such a cool project.
Exceptional as always, your ability to see a terrain piece in the most mundane and ordinary objects is amazing and very inspirational... Thank you so much for the upload and I look forward to the next episode 👍👍
Honestly looks amazing! I would have assumed that the water effects in the centre were the result of a whole bunch of crazy materials/techniques, never would have thought it would be do able entirely with materials I already own! Insane!
Fantastic use of acrylic pour technique - I won't be paddling in that anytime soon! I could almost smell the sewage from here [UK]! Hurry up and complete this build, I can't wait.
I'm new to the channel, but wow, just wow. I've seen a few comments that say you inspire people, you do. I LOVE the organic looks to your builds. I hope to apply what I've watched to some of my own creations. Fantastic!
I'm speechless, that mess look incredible man... I was looking for something kinda similar, and I got the perfect tutorial here... Thanks a lot from Spain... Cheers
Really cool to see how stuff is made, I'm just starting on my first terrain models and seeing how cool they can give makes me really happy I got into this hobby
I was waiting for this one! It’s much bigger than it seemed on photos! And this is the first time I see the acrylic pour, it really gives a weird depth to the piece. When I saw the photos I thought it was made with multiple layers of clear resin, painted in between the pours. That’s extremely cool!
Piping I made it out of straws pvc play dough water bottle and play dough container the water bottle is cut in half and it's all on card board I haven't painted it yet
Grrreat Build! Inspiring Pool of chem-waste...Haven't built ny terrain in quite a while, restarting finally. Very good call on the polystyrene form. Imagination rules this hobby. Just subscribed, looking forward to your videos. Thanks
Really love the pour for the industrial waist. I have seen the method before of pottery dipping and other dips. Not really seen it for a pour though. The result is sweet. Well done.
Great build - sorry I only came across it now (3 years after it was made!) I've never heard of the glue - paint- silicon goo mix before. I saw someone else use silica "bubbles" (from the moisture absorbing little packets that come in products.) I'll try that along with this technique. I'm a new subscriber, so I look forward to more content from you! Thanks
That gorilla glue tip is great, and the timing couldn't be better for me. Im building a butcher herd and these minotaurs need foamy mouths. Thank you very much!
Use sparingly ! Thanks for watching !
That pouring technique was stellar
Thanks ! Have to revisit this technique soon(ish).
Add another BMC follower that ended up here, great work!
Thanks, and welcome
Samesies :D
I was astounded that this was only a 16 minute video. So much cool terrain building in such a short time. Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for watching!

Paul Brewer shhhhh ! Don’t tell the wife 😉 Thanks for watching !
That silicon tip is certainly not a waste! Love this build.
Thanks !

Thanks for watching ! Quite some work to do indeed, but that’s where the fun is 😉
That sludge effect is a great tip. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
as a long time gamer and terrain builder i can say this is some outstanding work and skill
Thank you !
The idea with the styro base was great! I mean nobody actually HAS such a thing laying around, but IF you do, you are set and ready for something awesome! I would have added some tanks with ladders and piping...like some sewage plant!
Thanks.
The piece is modular so I wanted to keep it as flat and simple as possible.
@@DarkMatterWorkshop Ah, makes sense then.

So cool!!! The silicon effect after applied heat is amazing
Thanks !
Super cool! I think a catwalk across the pool would be cool as well, to give a little bit of playable surface.
Thanks ! Will do.
Wow! Been a while since I have been surprised by a unique build on UA-cam. Well done!
Thanks !
I came here from the plug from Black magic craft's video, and your segment on adding the paint layer and then hitting with the hot air gun blew my mind. WOW! Very cool and the effect is amazing! Awesome work!
Thank you !
SOO many awesome techniques in one video! The resin pour effect is a work of art just by itself!
Thank you ! No resin used in the pour though 😉
Wow, I love your dirty water effect.
Thanks! I like it dirty…
Great work. This is the video that finally inspired me to get started with the hobby. The pouring technique bridged the cognitive gap between my art background and rpg hobby, which was blocking my creativity.
Thanks ! Glad i could help, enjoy!
