Seriously though it sucks to see what Rockstar has turned into when it comes to handling games
We also spend today trying to find ways around Rockstar so we wouldn't have to pay $50 for Red Dead Redemption because I am tired of their ports.

Like Rockstar are the best in the industry! The remasters are outsourced because Rockstar wouldn't be caught dead going backwards.

@@MasonTheCourieri dont know if you know this but a port is a remaster... i dont know why ppl try to spin and objectify the term 'remaster' when it fits them the most... literally the term 'remaster' varies on occasions within the gaming industry... something like the Mafia definitive edition is more like a remake... no, actually its a full blown remake... that's all i wanted to say.

It doesn't help that the CEO of Take 2 Interactive said that they don't just release ports. They do everything they can to visually enhance and update the gameplay for today's players. Something along those lines. Que the Jontron clip of "That one didn't age quite so well"!
I loved RDR2, but never played the first one. I was excited about the game coming to the new consoles, until I heard it would be $50 for a port. Not wanting to shell out $500 for an XBOX Series X, I chose to buy an XBOX 360 for $12 at Goodwill, and spent $8 on the game. It's so worth it! Hearing them talk about his gang and Dutch and what happened on the ferry adds so much depth to the game's story, which I don't think would have been there for me had I not played RDR2 first.
Damn how people not played RDR 1 by this point is crazy to think. I mean I didn't play it in 2010 myself in fact, fairly late but still. I think the only explanation is that they started their console journey with PS4 (too young?). I mean curious to know any other explanation
I mean they did sort of frick up the continuity with New Austin and a bit of the timeline of roberries in RDR2 but it wasnt too bad.
You can interact with civilians with the B button. One thing i find interesting about how they implement it in this game is that you could greet or antagonize based on your honor levels. Im not sure if it's a common fact in the community but had discovered it on accident.

The game is RDR1 and it isn’t available on PC
Everyone on Rockstar Games who worked since the 2000s is leaving the company includ the co founder Dan Hauser and the vice president of script writing so i guess from now on it’s just downhill for Rockstar Games. Their last boom was RDR2.
I think GTA 6 since a lot of the people were still there when it was being written

I wish R* had the same approach to producing games and IPs that they had in the 00's. Lots of content in a unique style.

I still can’t believe that my ps3 broke when I was about to play rdr1 again and somehow I saw rockstar games said they will port RDR1 to ps4 and switch at the best timing and I was happy but I’m pissed that I have to pay 50$ for an 13 year old game
All those questions you had about Abigail and Jack and Beecher's Hope etc etc -- they get answered as the story progresses. The story is really great and I think for RDR2 players the most satisfying parts will be the conclusion of Dutch's story, Ross' conclusion, and how Jack ends up too -- it's not all happy but it's very poignant

I still find it funny how Rockstar blamed the fans for the poor reception of the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition and not themselves or T2.
This is why I don't feel bad about having pirated the majority of their games. They don't deserve anyone's money.

What has happened to Rockstar games and pretty much every other major publisher comes down to what Dutch Van Der Linde quoted in RDR2.

Played original RDR on the xbox seriesX, yes it is just a resolution upgrade but that extra resolution is especially striking in this particular game, distant objects on the horizon nicely resolved, colour and texture detail really brought out, character models sharp and defined.. why they couldn't give something as simple as a similar resolution upgrade on the PS5 is infuriating to speculate on. A mixture of laziness and something to sell down the line.
PS5 runs the game at 4K30fps since it's using the PS4 Pro version. So it's exactly the same as the Xbox Series X

@@michaelbramall6799 Enhancements no. But the PS4 Pro runs at native 4K and the PS5 uses this version so the resolution is the same. Both One X and PS4 Pro run the game at the same res and framerate. The same for PS5 and XSX since there's no native code for these consoles.

It wouldn't be worth the money. Majority of the music would be replaced, it probably would be locked at 30fps, and they'd probably censor it.

I love the first game. It’s slow because it really takes its time to immerse you in that world, so when the end comes around, it hits like a punch in the gut.

if you have a decent gaming pc you can emulate it using xenia that's the best way to play it and you can turn up or down the graphics according to how well your computer runs it. you can even unlock 60 fps
I found that using Ryujinx switch emulator is the better experience, it’s also significantly easier to run

After playing the Resident Evil 4 remake, hearing about the RDR1 remake being a possibility again, made me incredibly excited. then we all saw the trailer lmao. Definitely just not buying this game, only way I play it is if I ever buy an Xbox and play it that way, or it comes to PS Plus for free, or goes on a crazy sale 60% off or more. As a Canadian this game is $69.99, absolutely ridiculous.

Rockstar games realised that kids were playing the Adult Rated games and kids are easy to encourage to spend real money on fake money. They have basically groomed kids into it. GTA 6 will be Fortnite but with realistic graphics.

If you're planning to buy this on ps4/ps5 if you don't have Rdr2 already buy the 99 dollar bundle with Rdr 1 on sale and you should get both games and everything that comes with Rdr 1 as well
Xenia Canary (xbox 360) emulator on PC tuns the game pretty well actually, as long as you don't up the resolution. You can use AMD FSR to upscale it.
You have to mess around with the emulators and settings ect. If you try the different rendering options on both Xenia and Rsps3 you can get it to work at above 30 easily, 60 is possible too.
Only good thing to come from this is that pc players now have an easy way to emulate the game
I agree with you on many of the points, but the Rockstar we've seen over the past five years is the corporate side of them, not the side that actually makes any games. The definitive edition and rdr1 port were made by different studios. I say we judge Rockstar on gta 6.
Dan Houser was a main creative force behind most of Rockstars best stories including both Red Dead Redemptions GTA and Bully. Even if GTA6 has great gameplay it won't change the fact that the old Rockstar is dead

You should've tried emulating RDR1 with the Xbox 360 emulator (Xenia) which is more stable and less demanding on cpu than RPCS3 or also you could've tried Ryujinx (Switch emulator) which also haves mod support as of now.
I don't want to give money to rockstar but then again I really want to play this game. I don't know if I should hold on to my principles or not 🤔

You could try to emulate in Yuzu. If u unlock the fps, it will go up to ultra stable 60fps
I miss when rockstar made different games each year even though they're known for gta, games like bully, max payne, midnight club, la noire and manhunt just to name a few, nowadays they're solely relying on sharkcards, gta+ and fomo tactics just to make sure gta 5 doesn't die while leaving rdr2 in the dust, i know gta 6 is in development but as for it's storymode i hope its as amazing as ever but for gta 6 online I'll keep my expectations low
the fps part is pretty sad when you see that even the switch can run it at 60fps

The game isn't emulated on PS5. It's running in last gen compatibility mode which means nothing because the architecture and system software pretty much identical.

You can run red dead redemption fine on Xenia Canary. It runs at a steady 60 fps on my pc!

What happened to Rockstar is a very good question I got chatgpt to bring up a list of all games release since rockstars begining by year and there has been at least 1 or 2 games releases if lucky 3 releases a year since 1996. Since 1996 a game has come out every single year since then and it stopped right at 2013 when GTA V dropped. I feel like the consistency can be very heavily blamed on making GTA online content rather than making more games, Red dead 2 came out 5 years later in 2018 so I it's kinda disappointing to lose consistency over "attention to detail in one game every 5 to 10 years years" over multiple game stories every 2 of 3 years. Rockstar needs to fix things

Honestly, thanks to online we probably wouldn’t have as much of a high quality GTA6 as we do now. $2 billion budget for the game, yeah it sucks but it’s the only reason we’re getting realistic twerk physics so..
When I found out I can use my ps5 control on my ps3, I started playing rdr 1 and undead nightmare.... For 5 mins. Each. Then I realized I won't pay 50 for this game not even when it's on sale.

You should've emulated the game on the Yuzu emulator. Smooth 60fps with no visual glitches at all.
There's 2 gaming companies that will never gain my resect back. It's EA and Rockstar. I'm ok with paying big prices for games as long as the quality is there. The last good decision that rockstar made is releasing rdr2.

If the game is less than 20 years old, it doesn't need an update yet.
It is not hard to go get and play on an old console.
If the game is part of an active franchise, it doesn't need an updated version at all.

Always give in to micro transactions and allow all this bs to happen. What Xbox One did you borrow? The original launch Xbox One, the Xbox One S, or the Xbox One X? Cause there is a major performance difference between the 3 consoles. I have this game on 360 and play via backward compatability on my Xbox One X and it does not run as jankie as this.
Its an old xbox one. the series x boost it up a lot but the xbox one doesnt do much. basically runs like a 360 game
I think it’s objectively better to play Red Dead Redemption before Red Dead Redemption 2, because, citing some points from CinemaWins, in the first game, John is shown to be a mysterious and disconnected character to lots of people in the game, like the unknown cowboy trope, with only a few people being personally connected to him, and the game hints at mysterious things that happened with the gang that are later explained in the sequel, and you get really invested with John throughout the game and become connected to him and his family, so when you play the second game, John is a character you really think about and remember things about many times throughout it, because he’s the more “notable” character to you than Arthur, and the game also gives you a lot of good prequel things that you pick up in that shows you how things happened in the original game, but if you play the 2nd one and first one, you might get too connected to Arthur when you’re supposed to be connected to John. But I personally respect your choice of playing through the second game before the first game man, I’m sharing points I hope you’ll notice.

you tried RPCS3 for emulating red dead redemption but never tried Xenia emulator to emulate Xbox 360 version ? Not only Xbox360 version looks better, it even runs better on Xenia

i play it on xenia with a settings file, a notepad with graphics definitions that i downloaded and put in the emulator files, and it runs better even than the port, 60fps and decent graphics
Growing up thinking this was my favorite company with the variety of crime games. Im 26 now started playing Gta 2 at 4 yrs old on PC. The disappointment from them is blindsiding
They got fat & happy, which made them lazy because people are going to buy their games regardless. Imagine if everyone who complained incessantly about Rockstar stopped buying their games, they'd have to re-evaluate their business decisions. That won't happen though, they're too good when they do it right.
Same thing that happened to everyone else. Games cost too much money and too much development time to have flops and take risk and the people want new games, so they choose is safe and do remakes remasters and try and relaunch old games. Everyone wants to complain about the lack of new IPs or ideas etc not just in gaming but even in other digital entertainment but don’t know why that is. Basically big publishers are taking the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach mostly at least. I know a lot of people have the mindset that we shouldn’t feel bad for big rich companies, which is true, but if a company that makes the things we want don’t make the money they want or need, then we likely don’t get what we want or how we want it
