In German we’d say:
VANAJA überzeugt durch seinen tollen Cast und einen geerdeten, unaufgeregten Stil. Aber auch wenn mir manche Momente richtig gut gefallen haben, hat mich der Film insgesamt als Ganzes nie richtig abgeholt und wirkt am Ende zu zerfranst und beliebig. (Jimmy)
Wenn man sich das magere Budget und die Tatsache, das nur mit Laiendarstellern gearbeitet wurde, vor Augen hält, ist Vanaja ein absolutes Wunder. Einfühlsam, bezaubernd, herzzereißend. Ein kleiner großer Film. (Deniz)

I randomly found this movie on youtube and cried like a baby watching it. It really hit home for me. The main actress is really fun to watch and has pretty great screen presence for a new actor.
Loving the reviews so far. Would love it if you check out a movie called Ammoru or Amman in tamil. It features Ramya Krishnan (the queen mother from baahubali) and Soundarya. It was a huge hit in South India and kind of foundational in a way.
