Yes! The Japanese have known about moss lawns for centuries. We let one takeover a small area in front of our house and it looks beautiful and is extending itself around to the side of the house now. No mowing, just leaf blowing or sweeping. I have never used any milk, it just wants to grow there, but I do water the area in summer.

If I pour milk on a dirt field will I get a field full of moss? Or do I pour some kind of moss seed if there is any then add milk? Do I also need to cover the entire field with cardboard box after pouring milk?

Nice video, thank you. Have you been able to identify what species of moss you have? I have very similar moss in my lawn here in Northwest Ohio. But, I am having a hard time identifying it. any thoughts from you would be very helpful.

I have no idea on the species. I can tell you that once a year I get small red sprouts budding up from the moss. I am here in Durham NC,

how often did you remove the leaves throughout fall? or is it okay for the moss to be covered for awhile?

Almost twice a week. It was a lot, And I did it before any rain came. You need to keep the moss free from leaves and twigs so it will grow.

Once the moss is established could you rake the leaves (from the tree canopy) without damage to the moss. I have trees in perpetual leaf daily leaf raking

You can, very, very lightly to start, I use a low wattage leaf blower after the very light raking of leaves trying not to touch the moss under. That is why I then use the billy goat machine to get the rest of the leaves and twigs.

Is the milk for just establishing the moss or do you have to continuously add milk throughout the year, treating it like it was a fertilizer?

I add milk constantly to keep it growing. About once a month. In the winter I let it sit.

is the box just until the milk soaks in, and is it only one application of milk during that month?

Correct, and to keep animals from licking it off the moss.

What is a Billy Goat Mahine?

It basically is a vacuum for leaves and twigs. Best to do a Google search. It is a pretty cool machine.

Good job not like some others spinning lot of BS about how to grow moss
