@@charlesontravels There is definitely somewhere on Avis to put in your executive club number as when booking I remember it asking me for mine. They are also really helpful if you call them
@@charlesontravels I've just gone through to make a dummy booking and on Avis when it comes to payment it asks if you want to collect points when you travel, if you tick the box that's when you get the option to put in your exec club number
You can use Uber to book train tickets which will earn you Avios. I've started to use them rather than Trainline as Trainline appear to slip in the occasional booking fee.
I seem to be earning enough points to get me a ...... BA cheese & ham hock sandwich every couple of months. I'll try to sharpen-up. The BA store needs careful thought. Buying car-parking at Gatwick? Yep - use it. Want to apply a merchant's discount code? It might make more sense to use the merchant's site, paying with an Avios-earning card. Good video, which taught me some new tactics.
Issue with BA unless you from London BA don't have hardly any direct flight from other airport to other country like Manchester and BA flight are more expensive generally then other airline
True, although you can still use Avios to fly from Manchester with Aer Lingus or Qatar, or go via a connecting BA flight to Heathrow. It won’t always make sense to do so especially for a short haul trip if there is an alternative direct and cheaper option, but I’d be more than happy to go via a connecting flight to Heathrow if it means I can use points for a long haul trip in business class.
Same as how you described the avis link, i booked an airbnb over a year ago through a BA webpage and never got any points from it. So disappointing that they advertise avios rewards but alot of the time u dont end up ever getting the avios from purchases
Thanks mate they just gave me 50000 points after I messaged them on the chat and I told them that I was going g to leave. See i had a gold card and get the 30000 points to after I signed up but then I got a platinum card a few months after I spent the £7000 i. The first 2 months but they said as I had a gold card it has to be 24 months before I could benefit from another card sign up
Depends on the promotion. Most of the time referral bonuses will stack on top of the promotion, other times it’s either/or. For example when the BA Premium Plus Amex had some generous sign up bonuses recently, you actually got less when signing up with a referral. Those cases tend to be the exception though. The person making the referral will be told how many points you would get for signing up with their link, and I think that should also be displayed when you then click through on that link. You can just compare that to applying direct and go with whichever pays out the most.
Yeah I could see someone racking up a lot of points with these if just quickly selecting random answers or picking things that would give a better chance of qualifying, but I just didn’t want to do that and still feels like it would take a lot of time!
Generally no, but there are some very notable exceptions including my two favourite cards the Amex Platinum and the BA Premium Plus Amex. You can still get the sign up bonus on one of those even if you hold the other.
Be clever with your cash has a good website/UA-cam channel, which explains you can but you have to take them out in a certain order e.g. nectar then gold then BA card
We booked through the BA estore with Avis in summer and our points were credited a few days after we returned the car, no problems at all.
Was there somewhere on the Avis site to enter your executive club number? Or did it just pay the points via the estore?

Perfect! Thanks!

Lots of good advice here Charles, thanks. Looking forward to trying out a few though not all relevant to my circumstances. Cheers

I don’t think converting nectar into Avios is good. I think it’s good to hold nectar points as they are better redeemable for sainsbury or argos
More easily redeemable perhaps, but I can get much better value for those points via avios!

50k points is a great result for a retention bonus!
Will referral link bonuses still be valid if Amex are running a signup promotion on one of their cards?

I found every survey I wasn’t eligible. I’ve a friend that does surveys but she chooses what to answer, yes not the truth!

Can you have a second AMX card and still get the signup bonus?
Generally no, but there are some very notable exceptions including my two favourite cards the Amex Platinum and the BA Premium Plus Amex. You can still get the sign up bonus on one of those even if you hold the other.
Most of them you can't, very few you can get a 2nd

Yes as along as another card or for example the gold Amex and then the BA AMEX
