A Floristry Design using FLOWERING Potted Cyclamen!

I've had so many requests for an interesting way to display the flowering cyclamen and today is the day to showcase this stunning long-lasting bloom! I have never known a flower that has gone in come and go out of fashion as much as the cyclamen. These were once considered the Cyclamen persicum - originally came from Persia, now known as Iran.
The philosopher Plato described the plant as far back as the 4th century BC. The name is derived from the Greek word 'kuklos', which means 'circle’ - because of it’s rounded and flattened shaped tuber.
It was introduced in Europe at the end 16th century, before finding popularity in France and then Greater Britian. It kind of got lost in botanical history before becoming fashionable again in France in the 1900s. But since 1860, the first variants of the botanical or 'wild' cyclamen appeared in England, then in Germany, with much bigger flowers and with varying colour shades. They are the ancestors of our current varieties.
In times past, the cyclamen was recognized for its therapeutic properties - cyclamine, which is a bitter substance with purgative powers. It is a basic remedy in homoeopathy for depression, hidden
and sorrow.
In the language of flowers it represents lasting feelings and sincere affection. Historically, the cyclamen has also been associated with love, sensuality, and good luck. Additionally it is also the plant known for its attractive backward-curving petals in colours such as white, pink, purple, or red.
To me it’s a beautiful flower that needs to be brought back into main-stream floral fashion. This is how I display them during the winter when they are at their best.
You will need:
- A container of choice, I selected a squat or low classic urn.
- Several potted mini cyclamen plants.
- Foam or tray to catch excess moisture.
- Lambs Ear or foliage of your choice.

Absolutely lovely! It looks like an ancient urn of flowers from the wall of a big, old country house! I think the combo of urn and vine with these sweet little flowers was spot on! Something quite elegant about white with dark green and black. I’m going to read about cyclamens now, because these are very sweet! Your love of classic plants is very contagious 💐
