For folks in the UK, there's a fabulous Facebook group called Jo's Odd Shoes. Almost all of the shoes are new, and listed in albums of size - L or R. No charge for the shoes - you only pay for the postage. 🙂🙂🙂
Weird question: do you have to adjust your running leg based on how tall the bottom of your shoe is?
jasminefairy91 ooo good question
I imagine so, I know I have to with my cane.
@@jimmym3856 Um your running cane?
@@Gixsir I never said I use it to run, I have leg and hip braces for that. I just have to adjust my cane, which is kinda like a third leg, to my shoe soles like if I wear hiking boots compared to like sneakers. I think the same principle would apply to running with a prosthetic since it's not good to move all lopsided like that and one side would be higher than the other like what happens with canes.
@@jimmym3856 just imagine a running cane holy shit man
Who cares if it out of style what ever you like
I have a 2 completely different sized feet! I have spina bifida and my left foot is clubbed. I got lucky once shopping and got shoes that were 2 different (but correct!) shoe sizes. I wore those shoes to death and miss them so much. I will have to definitely have to check Zappos out.
Jo: I ordered one shoe
Me: cool
Jo: *opens box ,revealing only one shoe*
Me: *is somehow surprised only seeing one shoe in the box*
I’m so used to seeing two shoes in a box It’s weird only seeing one lol
I love the idea! It is also something many people can profit from. Rarely anyone has both feet exactly the same size. Best part is how they make the companies see that a tiny adjustment can go a very long way!
I hope your foot doesn't have a hole in it
Jesus: "Looks distraught"
I literally laughed out loud at this comment.
@@Jaelily319 me too
Poor Jesus but it’s ok I still love hem
I don't care it's out of style, I think the side part suited you better. 😅
This was a wonderful video!
I’m sort of partial to the side part because my hair steadfastly refuses to part in the middle. It is best way of to one side, but I can make it get about 1 inch from the middle of my head if I really want to. Either way you look great. :)
You need to find a sole mate!
I like the middle part, but let's be honest, hair goes where it wants to go 😂😂😅😅
As a guy of a certain age, my hair is going away.
i'm so excited for you!!! can't wait to see you running with your new new shoe and blade!
So excited for you to get your running blade! Also super great to know there’s a place to buy one shoe! I recently had a severe trauma to my right leg and I’ve had surgery on it. I’m allowed to partial weight bear again, but just discovered that because of the injury my foot has now grown 1 - 1.5 size bigger than my left foot. As you can imagine, a single pair of shoes is difficult for me to fit into. Being able to buy a different size for each will help! Thank you 😊
Me, a recent subscriber:
"Who's that on the thumbnail?"
Nice to meet you, middle part Jo!
I think your hair looks lovely both ways, stuff fashion, wear it however you like it.
That is a very good idea! I have two very differently sized feet so I often have to buy two pairs of shoes, which of course is expensive, and then I end up with extra shoes that I can’t use.
i love middle part jo and honestly the whole aesthetic goin on in this video
Hi Jo! As always, great video! My hair has a permanent middle part that I've battled with my whole life! To speak to the main subject matter, I think its great to include adaptive clothing in major brands. I know from my work experience as an OTA (occupational therapy assistant) that most everyone wants to look stylish in their clothing no matter their disability! I'm happy to see the change! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I'm thankful for You!!
I'm excited for you to start and enjoy running again. I'd also be really interested in how your lovely doggos react the first time they see you break into a run with them!
Thank you for helping to spread awareness! It's so nice to see large brands be adaptive. This makes me happy to see.
It is always fun to hear you speak about a topic you are so engaging and excited about everything you have talked about makes it fun to watch
My Aunt had polio as a child. Her feet were different sizes. She became a member of group that partnered people together with the opposite shoe sizes so that they could swap. She needed 7R/6L and her partner needed 7L/6R. Worked well except for style preferences. No stilettos for Auntie !
I am pretty sure different sized stilettos is going to mess up the hip joint
You look amazing with hair both ways Jo
Interesting, I think middle parts are trendy but side parts are still super popular. Did you also darken your eyebrows??
I love how that's your takeaway from this video 😂
I think she said the other day on her Instagram story that she got the wrong color but was just gonna go with it.
Jesus, you're a whole new person with your hair parted in the middle!
BR?
@@williandalsoto806 yes
This is so awesome!! I actually saw a guy today with a running blade with a foot attached! I have never seen that before!
I look forward to seeing that shoe in action!
Centre parting or hair swoosh, you're stunning either way, beautiful.
Another great video, really made me laugh.
Holes in your meat foot are never fun. I have discovered this more than once. Luckily they have a great tendency to mend themselves. Enjoy your new shoe!
Omg I just realized I'm in Colorado sadly we are in
Pagosa Springs co but still love you
That's so cool that's really inclusive it makes me happy I think it's seven Porten to think about every type of person when you're making products and it's just another thing that helps and it brings me so much joy
Found a thumb tack in my prosthetic a couple of days ago... like two shoes myself... one on my real foot and one on the prosthetic. The flip flop fake foot made me laugh a lot... didn't like them so much after my time in Thailand... so damned hot was better if doing that just o go barefoot... to avoid the heat of the flip flop... LOL! And when I swim with my prosthetic swimming leg I like wearing fins... need two for balance the way I swim. But running... that is a good point for running... have a nice day Jo and all your family, including cats and dogs.
Some places are really nice like that, allowing for alterations. My father-in-law only has one arm (both are there, but one is dead) and when he asks for the beekeeper's gloves to be sent in two lefts instead of a mixed pair, they always oblige. It's really decent of them.
The side smoosh is more flattering IMO. And more sophisticated somehow.
The part down the middle is coming back! I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed it! You have to do whatever makes u feel good for that moment. Anything goes these days! Looks great whatever u want to do! 😊
I am definitely interested in Zappos now. I spent my entire teenage years not ever seeing clothing that I felt worked for me as someone with a Spina Bifida. I would have loved to have been a model in that fashion show. And shoes were a nightmare. I literally stopped wearing shoes in my twenties because I could never find shoes that worked with my feet, or especially with my braces. I used to love shoes. I used to love fashion. Then I just got tired of being disappointed by the clothes and shoes not fitting in a flattering way. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I started watching your channel because youtube decided to add it to my recommended channels after I started doing prosthetic research in preparation for my BK amputation in November. I really appreciate all the knowledge and experience that you share. I was nervous, and now, November cannot come fast enough. So ready to start living again.
Yeah there are barely any clothes that accomadate spine bifida, ended up sewing my aunt's wedding dress from scratch!
Prefere side part
I am so happy for you 💕
To think in modern days you can buy one shoe, and RUN let alone walk!!!
I have both my feet, but I've always wanted a black and a white combat boots set or converse but I didn't want to buy two sets of shoes to only use one of each. Since zappos is doing such a great thing it's great that I can look for shoes I want and support them
awesome on zappos!!!!! i love companies who change and grow!!!!
The Zappos fellow just past away. 46 years old, so sad.
Thank you for this video. Due to medical issues I have one foot that is over an inch longer than the other. I can go on there and order two different sizes.
Love your videos.
I think this could be super helpful if you have different sized feet or needed an insert in one shoe and therefore needed a bigger size. Also if anyone wants to be different and have 2 different shoes.. 😅 but really I think this is so cool!
I'm 40 second in and just need to say I've gone through the exact same thing Jo! Currently rocking the middle parting once again and lovin it and I think you look great either way to be honest :)
The first video I watched from you was the 'what does an amputee so with the other shoe' video, and I've watched you ever since and love watching you!
I love a company is finally doing this!!! Not only for disabled people, but many have 2 differently sized feed who will also benefit from ordering single shoes 😎
This is so cool! It's actually soo mind blowing that this hasn't been done before.
If a pair is $59.99 I'm sure they're charging $39.99 for one.
That'd be capitalism for you.
If you’re lucky
I checked. The Brooks Ghost 13 (that I selected randomly) is $120 a pair and $65 for a single. Rather expensive, but they aren't gouging amputees.
Interesting video with the representative from Zappos, I'm glad to see that adaptive clothing is expanding.
Loved the video and the interview with Dana!!
All seriousness aside about how great this truly is, I think selling one shoe is a great even for those of us who wear two shoes. If your pet decided to destroy one of your shoes, or you spill paint on one, etc... you can just order a replacement for the bad shoe, instead of a whole new pair!
I think it is pretty neat that you can now buy shoes single I have two different sized feet and a hip thing that made my right shoes more damaged as the left and now I could buy just a right one. And now I can have two fitting shoes without spending to much.
Literally as soon as the video came up I was like Jo changed her hair, it's so pretty! Oh and technically meat feet can technically get holes in them, but thats called a cut or similar injury... Like mine right now, I have swiss cheese for a foot because I kinda stepped on my poor kitty, she attacked my foot for that, which I deserved but yeah OUCH
Very happy for you
omg! the center part looks so different! pretty rad:D
2:10
Before I watch the video. If it's an expensive brand can't you request that you get two left shoes? So then you get a pair of shoes but both can be used on the left foot?
Yah I was gonna ask why they don’t just open the boxes if the same size and putting two left shoes in one and then the two right shoes in one. Charge the regular price ( or a little more for labor). I mean there is enough room in the box so…?
Wow!!! How great is this!!!!
Thanks for telling us about it! I have two feet but the sizes are very different
My name is Ahnikka so when you said "my friend Annika" my heart leapt lmao. I know it's kind of weird to comment about it but my name is really rare so it's kind of exciting to find a name twin.
HAHA! You ordered the RIGHT shoe... but when looking at all the facts the right shoe is actually the LEFT shoe.
Noo! Not Brooks! - Jokes aside (from one runner to another) I am SO happy for you that you were able to get your gear, get some training, and get that 5k! 🥳💪🏼 Much love from an Internet Friend :)
Your so pretty either way you style your hair. It’s good you’ve found a place to buy a running shoe.
I really like both ways that you do your hair!
You are amazing, Jo ❤️
Thumbs up for "Middle-Part Jo". Also, no holes in my plastic foot......yet.
thé idea of an amputee shoe exchange ... brilliant
Like your hair. The style was popular in the 60s and 70s (when I was relatively young).
I’ve been doing middle part since I was born :)
Also on a scottish dating site
One legged man right looking for one legged woman, shoe size 43 ^^
I see myself out and apologise if anyone get offfended. Just my dark humor from growing up with some disabilities myself. :)
I never really explored the amputee side of youtube but after I started watching you I think amputee youtube is cool and intresting to learn about amputte's
thank you so much for liking my comment
Its not only very convenient for amputees to be able to order a single shoe, but i also know a person whos left food is a size larger then her right, so people like her could order a left in one size and a right in another
Your hair looks good either way but you look so different/good with it in the middle!
You're beginning to evolve beautifully ❤💜
You should wear 2 left/right feet just to throw ppl off....if youre comfortable with that attention of course
This Zappos is so great! :-)
How awesome the Zappos offers this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey I just watched this video then seen this on CBC news.....so sad
Tony Hsieh, retired CEO of online shoe retailer Zappos, dead at 46
I needed a single shoe 20 years ago. Wish I had Zappos then. I eventually just went to a pair of custom shoes. Funny thing, they were cheaper. And the custom shoes really didn't look the same as my 1 shoe due to the shape of my damaged foot.
middle part joe is good.
My flesh foot does get holes in it, I have no explanation for why or how, but they're little clusters of holes that sometimes pop up where I'd normally get calluses.
I just had a thought. Keep the running shoe on the end of the blade then no where's the other one moment. Maybe?
just realized when you buy a pack of socks, you get so many more to use lol I hate laundry
And if you lose a sock buddy, no big deal
I hate this thing people do us as women. When I was a size 14 "oh, you're too fat" (it's the average in this country) when I was a tiny size 6 "oh you're so skinny"!
So f**kin what?!
Jo, you are beautiful with no make-up or make up. Parting or side parting. Regardless. Dress you for you! Go with what you enjoy. If that's makes you a trendsetter...who really cares? Not you. X
i would adore a couch to 5k (c25k) series^^ im so happy for you and everyone becoming more inclusive in all the ways and everyone thats now finally included in a better way
I like the swoosh
There should be website to match for people with the same size foot who are missing opposite legs so they can swap shoes.
Hello
I love Jo love the middle part you do you
Ok I'm seriously curious what the Zappos shoe warehouse looks like. Just like a regular show warehouse but three times as much inventory because there's a right and a left and a pair....
I know Josh Sundquist found a right leg amputee who wears the same size shoe and gave him a large collection of left shoes! He said he found his solemate lmao!
I kinda like the middle part tbh.
Hi
I was first!!!! Love you joe!
i think you should touch on the subject of the k level testing
This is so badass!!
I do have 2 feet but I skate so one shoe always tears while the other one's still looking well so that's practical for me aswell.
If you dance, your feet can get holes in them....
The founder of Zappos just passed away in a house fire on Thanksgiving weekend. Very sad. RIP.
Love your hair! Also, I'm early(ish)! Yay!
Love middle part Jo...
The old story of the war veterans, one lost his left leg, the other the right, they met once a year at the same time and place to buy a ne set of shoes.
Also, I miss Zappos.
I was thinking this same thing lol
