    You should call it *Spirit* from the movie with the same name. Running free was a huge theme of that movie.

I have a patient who is having to consider amputation and I encouraged her to watch some of your videos to hear from someone who has had to make the same decision. It was great for me to be able to try and connect her with something that might be a great resource to her and it will (hopefully) be a really great corner of the internet for her to find some support. So the real thing I want to say at the end of this spiel is thank you thank you thank you for sharing your story. All the highs and lows. Thanks Jo and I can't wait to hear more about running!

    Just a tip when you're running Jo: when you land your forward leg should be directly under your body. I know it's a weird habit to get into but landing with your leg too far forward puts a lot of stress on your knee

    • @XMaster340
      @XMaster340 2 роки тому

      Absolutely. Also, try to land on the ball of the foot and not the heel. This way you put most of the stress into your muscles (where it should be) and not the knee.

    Not gonna lie, when you first like jogged while you were inside with the rails, I literally started tearing up and then when you were in the parking lot I lost it but in a good way, it's happy tears. I'm SO happy for you. I've been watching you since right around the initial amputation, I can't remember if it was before or after but somewhere near it. You've been such an inspiration for me. I have had trouble with my feet and one of my knees for years now and it really had me down. But watching you, how you're so candid about how you feel, all the ups and downs, you showed me it's ok to struggle with things like this but also that they do get better. I'm doing better now, not perfect, still very far from where I was before my knee injury and reinjury, but I'm better than I was and I'm actually able to walk for more than a few minutes without horrible pain. I know how it feels to long to get to do something like run when you have obstacles to doing it. But you did it! And I'm so beyond happy for you! And the BIGGEST thank you ever to Miss Anyka (sorry if I spelled that wrong!) For so very generously giving you your new running blade! Gah, so happy, can't stop rambling.... I'ma go now lol congratulations again Jo!

    I just turned 30 in September, one month after my 27th birthday I had a massive stroke. It affected my right side of my body. My arm and leg just stopped working altogether. I have regained the use of my arm and hand. But my leg hasn't been the same :( I can go up and down stairs, go grocery shopping etc. But my ankle to my toes it was gives me the toughest time. I cannot move my toes, my ankle rolls all of the time if I'm on unlevel terrain. I have honestly considered getting my ankle amputated... your video sparked my interest many months ago and I started watching them because I guess for motivation? To see the struggles of living with a amputation. After watching this video I am seriously leaning more towards it. I started bawling when when you ran down the hallway, happy tears for you! I am so happy you are able to experience the freedom of running! A experience I hope to be able to experience again!

But I haven't been able to run for about 7 years now when shit hit the fan at 28 and I developed post impairment syndrome among other things. It's not every day you get to see somebody get something they've wanted for many, many years. What a great video. Congratulations and thank you for sharing this moment with us.

    Congratulations!! And thank you!! Your happiness and enthusiasm are contagious!!
    Thank you!
    Also - from an old athlete - do every thing slower than you can. Take a long time to let your body adjust. Your muscles will get strong fast, but your joints and bones will take a lot longer. Go slow and you'll be running when you're old.

    I think you should call it scissors because as someone said earlier, then you can always run with scissors.
