- "Crazy" written by Willie Nelson & most closely identified with Patsy Cline, was recorded by Linda Ronstad for her 1976 album Hasten Down the Wind released on Asylum records in August 1976. Released as a single in November 1976, it reached number six on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. The album earned her a Grammy Award for ‘Best Pop Vocal Performance - Female in 1977.
Personnel on the record were Kenny Edwards on bass guitar, Mike Botts on drums, Andrew Gold on
acoustic guitar, Dan Dugmore on steel guitar, & Clarence McDonald on piano. Linda is the greatest female singer of the 20th century.
"Hasten Down the Wind" is my all-time favorite LP (among many) by the incomparable Linda Ronstadt. Even though she is unable to perform anymore, she has left an incredible body of work for us to enjoy forever. Thanks for this beautiful post!
She was one of my first crushes ^-^
Such a versatile singer. I love her contributions to the soundtrack of the film The Mambo Kings (Quiereme Mucho and Perfidia).❤
Love it! ❤
A co worker sang Patsy Cline’s version every time we went out to karaoke. I didn’t know LR sang this either. Can’t beat these lyrics. Funny how fickle love makes us all feel a little crazy at times. Still, loving the one that we feel a tad crazy for loving, isn’t always a bad thing. Thanks for sharing.
❤ this song
Selena Gomez should play her in a movie.
So right!

The song is a wrong choice for Linda. Patsy Cline version is the fantastic and it is definitive one. No singer should be allowed to sing it.
I disagree, Frankie. While Patsy's version is the definitive one, I think that Linda's is a close second.
I too prefer Patsy Cline singing it.
