Learn How to Draw and Paint "FLAMENCO DANCER" - Paint & Sip at Home - Easy Acrylic Painting Tutorial
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 чер 2022
- PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION - This canvas painting tutorial will take you through easy step-by-step instructions on how to draw and paint this emotional, captivating, and moving portraiture painting of "Flamenco Dancer” with acrylic paint. Back in 2019 I took my father on a vacation to Spain so we could enjoy exploring our family roots. After spending time in Madrid where we ate at the oldest restaurant in the world, saw a bullfight, did a tapas crawl, sipped Sangria, and went to the Picasso Museum, we travelled south to Costa Del Sol. It was here, in the small town of Nerja, in the basement of an old rustic bar, tucked hidden away down a narrow cobble stone street, where I saw flamenco dancing for the first time. Dim lights, low ceilings and no windows, set the romantic mood. Barely visible in a cloud of cigarette smoke, two guitarists sat on wooden chairs and began strumming their guitars. From behind a curtain emerged a woman, of a surprising age, who stepped up on a small platform, and stood proudly commanding the room’s attention. The colorful dress, artistic hand clapping, dramatic arm and body movements, percussive footwork, and passionate facial expressions, nearly left my heart on the floor right next to my jaw. It was a night I will never forget and a memory that I have always wanted to capture on canvas. You don’t have to be familiar with Spain’s highly expressive dance form, Flamenco, in order to appreciate the art of freely moving the body to the sounds of music. All dance is self-expression, a pure and fun way to liberate the mind and body. So, join me and celebrate the wonderous world of performance art and paint this enchanting and emotional image that will not only capture the imagination of its viewers, but, also, encourage others to stand up, turn on the music, and shake a leg, bust a move, or get their groove on! The first lesson you’ll learn in this beginner level painting tutorial is how to paint a background with a single color of black, which will add to the mysterious and alluring mood and later allow for all the vibrant colors to pop off this canvas. After learning how to use a dot-to-dot drawing method, you’ll draw an outline of your feminine dancer, followed by applying a simple base coat to her hair, skin and dress, to work off of. Using a scumbling or scrubbing paint method, you effortlessly add a smokey mist or stage fog, adding to the seductive nighttime noir. Then you’ll use a directional brushstroke for added depth and dimension to the dancer’s dress creating contours to accentuate the cloth. You’ll then finish your woman’s costume with highlights and shadows to develop texture that will embody the realistic fabric, creating a 3-D realistic photo effect. Next, you’ll paint highlights and shadows on the skin to emphasis contours, curves and form which will enhance the muscle and posture movement. Using a one brushstroke technique, you’ll add body, form and fullness, to your dame’s hair. The process is so fun and simple, you’ll have confidence to change her dress, hair or skin tone into any color, style or shade you want! You’ll finish off this easy art lesson by adding a personalized signature. Using only 3 brushes, 5 colors, and only one brush per step, we'll create this conversational masterpiece. Not just a beautiful painting, but an easy painting for beginners. Paint alone, or with friends! Have a date night, paint party, or virtual paint night. So, let's get painting and let's get sipping!

I’m of Spanish descent, so this speaks to me, my mum danced the Flamenco, so I’ll paint this in memory of her. Thanks so much for your awesome tutorials 🤩

I JUST finished doing this painting. OH EM GEE!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE how it turned out. Your instructions are so wonderful to follow. THANK YOU for doing this for us!
Wonderful! Happy to hear that!
@@michellethepainter. I also keep meaning to ask you if you put any sort of sealer/varnish over your paintings?
@@jacquelinemartin9793 I usually do not seal my paintings, because when acrylic paint fully cures, it is very durable. However, I do sometimes seal/varnish my paintings for esthetic purposes to bring all of the sheens together. I prefer to use a spray (Grumbacher or Golden) or liquid gloss (Liquitex) varnish. I hope this helps. Have fun painting!
@@michellethepainter. thank you very much

Hello again Michelle. What an elegant looking painting. And a brunette for a change. But blonde would be ok too. Like the back of your head. You are amazing as usual to teach me how to draw. You are a women of many talents. Talk, draw, paint and sip. All under 1 hour. Love it. And music is gorgeous. Let’s so see one dancer live in Spain. Oh wow!!! A trip with you painting our way around….I can see us now. Good job bestie..love it. Thank you so much
Thank you! 😊 I remembered the dancer I saw in Spain was a brunette. My dad fell in love with her. lol Hopefully when all the craziness of the world subsides, I'll be ready to go on another trip!
@@michellethepainter. remember your bestie when you’re ready…good for your dad.
@@gwenw9250 Will do!
Just found your Channel. Wow your work is really beautiful 😍 . We've been going to Nerja for years, every year infact, we love it. Sadly, the flamenco place has closed down now, after the Pandemic. We also go to a little whitewashed village in the hills nearby called Frigliana, and there used to be a portrait in one of the local restaurants of a back view of a flamenco dancer by a nlocal artist. It was truly stunning, as is your work
Sorry to hear that the restaurant closed down. I did couple of plein air paintings while I was in Nerja that you might enjoy watching. Here is the link to my playlist: ua-cam.com/video/p_gRtIA9lAQ/v-deo.html You just might recognize the spots. Enjoy!
Thanks!
Wow, thank you J! This means a lot and is very much appreciated! Everything helps to keep my dream alive of painting and teaching!
That’s so beautiful. I will try to do this. I hope I can do it. As I am not a painter. Just starting to take interest in it.
You can do it!

You are an amazing artist and excellent teacher🌹
Wow, thank you!
Why use chalk? I have a set of watercolour pencils. Never a problem, it dissolves and mixes with the paint, if just outside the painted image I can simply wash it off with a moist cloth. It must to be watercolour pencils though, not regular colour pencils as they don't dissolve/mix nor can you wash them off and as such they tend to show.
Can you please drawing seven horse In one painting
Thanks for the suggestion but that might be a difficult one to do. You could go to my channel and click on my playlist "Animals" and find a horse tutorial and then repeat the horse steps seven times. I hope this helps. Have fun painting!
I tried doing it but was not possible
@@praptiraut6629 Difficult for sure. Thanks for trying!
For one hour, somehow, I have spread your video across 3 days 🤦🏾♀️
That's great! As long as you are having fun, doesn't matter how long it takes!
I tried it, i was super excited, Michelle but heck... it turned out pretty bad... I am very disappointed with my skills. Your shading was too difficult for me to do... anyway, thank you as always for your time & showing me something new. i just need to practice more, i hope...
