+snarkthepirate Yeah, even though they're real low on the list of genres I like, he totally filled a niche in the crew for hardcore 4X/strategy/Tabletop games that they didn't have. Picking up Jason Oestricher to gush about fighting games and to a lesser point character action games was the get that was exactly what I was looking for, personally.
Crusader Kings 2 and Europe Universalis 4 are awesome and both by Paradox of this game floats your boat. They are all slightly different, but stellaris is the most different by far in that it is a 4X, the others are more simulation of real world history. Either way they are cheap and highly replayable. I wish Austin would do a Looking back quick look on those
These three always have such a great dynamic! Vinny adds a special brand of chaos on the grand scale (like deciding that the core tenant of the society is Batman worship), Austin happily rolls with Vinny's suggestions and figures out how to implement them, and Alex acts as the straight man to their shenanigans. Also, this game looks fantastic. Couldn't stop laughing when their president decided to run a reelection campaign on the slavery platform and Vinny's prediction about the scientist gaining too much power came true when he won the election!
First heard about this game via the Co Optional Podcast on Thursday and only just noticed your vid this morning. Sold. Thank you for the Quick Look; Looking forward to creating my galactic empire.
This game looks really cool. It seems far more approachable to me at least than other Paradox Games I have tried to play. Plus playing as religious space mushrooms seems appealing to me.
Very nice Quick Look guys, kinda reminded me of Project Beast, maybe you three should do a small LP of Stellaris in the future if you find the time, it would be very cool i think.
+Fvalen1 As a fan of Europa Universalis, Victoria II, and space games, this is the game I've always wanted. Luckily, the release dates for games that I want are all timed perfectly. I can play Overwatch beta until Stellaris. They day that beta closes, Stellaris releases. Then I can play Stellaris until Overwatch actually releases. And then I can play them both until No Man's Sky.
I really liked the Load save feature from EUIV where you could take a Crusader kings 2 save and load into what that version of Europe became. Now to extend that further and have it affect stellaris would be really cool
+shep13 This should be the most accessible grand strategy game to start with, if you're interested in the genre this is probably going to be the best choice.
Sure, honestly by what I've seen so far this is probably the most approachable so far. HOI4 and EU4 is probably the next two easiest ones. CO2 and from what I've heard the latest Victoria comes after that (I enjoy CK2 way more then EU4 personally, I don't have personal experience with Victoria) older versions of the various games come after that. For instance HOI3 is way more difficult/less approachable then HOI4 will be.

Weeks? Try months... These games are addictive. I fully expect you to come back here after spending a month ingame (not including time to sleep and eat in between).
+Brandon Ruth Yeah, I dislike how much they are pushing how board game it is. I do agree that it does have board game features, but I also think that is a benefit. The game doesn't really push that aspect, it does a good job at making you want to know more about the fiction and immersion. I wish they would start marketing this to the die-hard, huge 4X simulationist gamer.
+Kael loool how did you even pause the video in time to make this correction, Austin says the wrong info and then Vinnie corrects him literally within 2 seconds.
I don't think this will appeal to their hardcore base yet. It seems quite lacking in terms of depth to EUIV and their other projects. Less stats and numbers which is too bad...hppefully they get added back (optionally to view)
+Dave M To be fair vanilla EUIV was less deep than stellaris is at launch. it's paradox we can expect to spend between $10 and the GDP of a small nation on expansions over the next couple years that'll fill it out.
I'm really interested in this video and this game, and I really appreciate getting a good look at it. That said, good lord, please shut up and let the guy explain things. You guys aren't funny interjecting every three seconds. Let him talk and explain things, which is why we want to see this video. It's such a distraction that it makes me not want to continue watching.
I need to stop watching Austin Walker quick looks. Dude keeps making me buy games I never knew I wanted

I could watch you guys all day playing this. The stories you are coming up with...

Only with a Paradox game would a "Quick Look" take 1.5 hours.
This video made me want to buy this game. Thanks.
"That is the George Clooney of fungus right there." Never change, Alex.
This should be Project B.E.A.S.T. Season 2.
+Jacob Drum completely agree
+Jacob Drum Yes :D

I love the counterweight army :)
Fantastic Quick Look!

i like how they pretty much picked the collector version of harbinger from ME2

Totally agree, but what should the witty title be?!
"You have an ethical divergence of 10%." "Alright; kick it."
RIP Beak of Red. Died valiantly.
Btw, in earlier builds, the "Purge" button said "Genocide"...
+Xoron Mods will fix that
These guys are an entertaining watch and listen.
Around 4:00 when they are talking about the human leader's face. So good.
I've been excited for this game since it was first announced, so hyped! I wanna play space mushroom people

poor shu zhu, she just wanted to help her people the only way she knew how
I didn't know it was Grand Strategy Space Sim Friday?
I've never played a grand strategy game but this looks fantastic. Will i be okay startin with this??

+shep13 thanks everyone, i've pre-ordered it :)

Good, perhaps we can play a multiplayer together on Monday or Tuesday? =)
Goddammit there goes a few weeks of my life.
Weeks? Try months... These games are addictive. I fully expect you to come back here after spending a month ingame (not including time to sleep and eat in between).
+Luredreier I know, I've already fallen into the EU4 and CK2 (and HOI 3 and Victoria 2) holes. Wish me luck.
36:26 "is this what dan..town..found? dan...." i think vinny had a stroke
I think this video before Vinny knew Dan? Dan didnt start till later right?
What is with games and digital cards lately? Decks for Days. I bet all the Vape shops have lots of good cards with professional smoke rings on them.
+Jack Walsh Its just their way of displaying their non linear tech tree. Its not really 'cards'

Austin didn't get the wormhole range right, they can go anywhere within the larger outlined circle. (oh okay, Vinny caught it, nvm, carry on!)
+Kael loool how did you even pause the video in time to make this correction, Austin says the wrong info and then Vinnie corrects him literally within 2 seconds.
dialp4penguin Come on, it was at least 2 minutes! ;p
I'm worried this isn't in depth enough, and there wont be enough end game.
+robb stark
Coming from the guy who got killed off in the 3rd season of a potentially 8+ season show.
+robb stark Says a man who couldn't even make the mid game of HBO's Crusader Kings II game.
DOES THE BOMB HAVE A NAME?!

Project B.E.A.S.T. Season 2?
"Quick Look" ... "Duration: 1:39:06"
+Destro7000 You must be new here.
Depends where 'here' is xD This channel/user, yes, this site, it's formats, no. :p
This game is pretty broken right now, I'd hold off a few months before getting it.
By the way, why can never watch GB videos on the giantbomb page? They never load or start up for me.
+Sean Steel i'd guess adblock without knowing anything about your setup. =]
