This game was apparently kickstarted and directed by Tim Follin, the guy who did all that insanely-good NES and pre-NES era music, like the Silver Surfer soundtrack or the main theme to Solstice. Such a weird place for him to crop up again after being out of the gaming eye for so long.
I just had that relevation and made a comment much like yours. As far as I can tell he designed and programmed the entire game himself, too, which makes it an even more unexpected and impressive feat.
11:57 Some fine acting by the Dr. Who and Sherlock clones. 14:24 Expert interrogation. 20:54 Someone just earned an Oscar nomination. 24:48 That dialogue 28:40 It's all in your head. 33:02 Now he's just being condescending. 45:05 Is the game becoming self aware it's a game? 53:20 We meet a new friend. 57:17 The key to good detective work is a sense of humor. The key to dealing with the detective is good weed.
_Tim Follin made this game._ The old video game composer. I've known of this game since launch, but I had no idea about that until just now as I went Googling for reviews. That blows my mind. It's nice to see him back in games somehow.
I love how at the start they are talking over the dialogue and generally shitting on the game and by the end they are dead silent listening to every conversation. Seems like a legit good game and it was funded on Kickstarter for $5000
2015: The Return of FMV 2016: The year console add-ons return (Instead of CD add ons, we're going to get cartridge add ons) 2017: Return of Arcades 2018: Return of adding "Super" before every game title
Omg you guys thanks for doing this. It's definitely an IPad game but I'm going to run it on my PC. I already saw a couple contradictions you missed. I love these mystery adventure games. By the way, this was also a kickstarter project.
this is great. I would love to see a premium show that continues this game to the end. edit: woops eat my own words. Austin said five seconds after posting that he would love to do a premium feature if it weren't for how new the game was. Maybe in a few years, then!
***** YES PLS. More contradiction reaction. As the game goes on Jenks gets MORE and MORE camp. Him and Ryan put on an acting tour de force. and DON'T even get me started on the special guest actor who shows up later. Paul. Nuff said.
I demand to see a full playthrough of this game. 7 hours to finish it. As the plot gets crazier and more cult-like, the acting gets WAY come campy and they really ham it up. I finished the game, and REALLY enjoyed the commentary of this and was looking forward to seeing the rest of your collective reactions. I promise you, you and your viewers won't regret it.
Finished this game last night... play until you get to Paul Darrow (amazing actor) and feel the creep factor explode. Yes, Jenks is a bit goofy, but I think it is intentional to take the edge off of the entire game. The dude is a complete klepto though. Play through just to catch all the times Jenks takes stuff from people.
Sean Francis It is seriously awesome. And paul Darrow and his tongue inflections at the end of all his sentences is just insane! That guy ROCKS. CAMP it up to 11, boys.
This fucking guy is AMAZING. How do you over-act so terribly on a line like, "Go on..."? That is a special talent. Someone needs to get this actor some more exposure.
You guys are being too hard on this game. It's really well shot and edited, and I don't know how intentional the main character's acting is, but he's certainly entertaining. This looks like a legitimately really good game.
john smith But, I enjoy the guys and their commentary. I could watch these guys play through this game for sure. Playing it by my lonesome wasn't as fun as sharing it with this band of awesome chaps.
I really think Steam is an awful platform because I had no idea that this had come out even though it's great it just got flooded with shitty Greenlight games so nobody knew it existed!
Alexander L I mean if you were looking when it came out, it would have been one of the first ones. And nobody knew it existed except for a popular video game website
The color palette is off. In my own and other people's playthroughs the video is more clean and less washed out, must be something on GBE's end. Also, buy this fucking game it's amazing and I NEED a sequel.
You think the acting in this game is bad? You haven't played FMVs in their glory days. Jenks is like Tex Murphy on crack. The game uses the concept of an old Jack The Ripper game. Unfortunately, you can only match contradictions for the same person and in order to carry them over to another you need a physical object in the inventory which makes it a lot easier.
Every time Austin suggested they do a thing and it didn't work, it bummed me out. Because the game Austin thought this was is a significantly better one.
CUMBERBOTCH HOLY SHIT AUSTIN

Don't think he didn't make amazing music after lmao. Plok, Time Trax, Ecco Dotf
@@SiGhast😅y😅😅yyhuh
I will never be as happy in my life as the detective was when he stole the screwdriver
I can't imagine a world where the devs of this game were not self-aware. This is way too on the nose, in a good way.
Shoogily They were indeed self aware. That Ryan guy instructed the actors to ham it up. See the interview on Tim Flitwich.
Absolutely true. Hammed up big time :)
11:57 Some fine acting by the Dr. Who and Sherlock clones.

Giant Bomb should put out a very low budget FmV game. I think they can pull it off
They already kinda made one for their GOTY stuff a couple years ago.
Dee Kay OMG! Premium drive stretch goal!

You know what, I'd watch a show of this on TV. Reminds me a little of Jonathan Creek in that its a mystery that doesn't take itself to seriously.
***** I'd be on that. I want this in a game series.
Man, I do hope these guys do a full playthrough of this game someday
Alex Olinkiewicz PLS now. Can't wait.
I think the over the top acting is intentional.
MultiPlatGamerGuy Yeah it is. And that's friggin insanely awesome.
"friggin insanely awesome", a bit overexcited?
I don't know how many times I've watched this but it never fails to make me laugh.
Reminds me of the old UPFs where Vinny would play really bad FMV games exclusively.
+AsterSea Oh man, Code Blue...
Ethan Mars Oh man, you're taking me back to August of 2013. The good times.
How is this video SIX years old...
Yeah... too fast
"Someone wrote down English a lot of times in a book and cast a spell on it and I came out of it" God I love Vinny XD
Nice to see Mr. Cumberbotch

Michael Cutts Super Meat Boy came out a while ago...and all the super mario galaxy games...
Michael Cutts THIS ALL SOUNDS FUCKING AMAZING!
Michael Cutts We're being granted FMVs in the new Need for Speed. Even AAA is supporting the FMV revolution.
I want this crew to let's play this entire game, i was enthralled with this quick look, more please!
Craig Franklin YES. MOAR!
I mean, the reaction shot whe Jenks does the "devil sign" are priceless. And PAUL DARROW. OMG PAUL DARROW. Pls play more.
Interactive Midsomer Murders directed by THE Tim Follin? Sheet! I'm in!
I feel like Jenks should be wearing a clip on tie.
So.. Have you seen *Puts on the mask* this?
20:55 - Eva seen-a...THIS?
God, I love that man.
Love how Vinny just randomly says "Get bent" in the middle of the sentence.

A Red Mote looks like they are doing at least some more of it.

john smith Paul Darrow should be knighted for his performance in this thing.

Jenkins: "So, the necklace did belong to Kate!" Vinny: "FFFFUCK!"

+rrrobotnik The English David Caruso, but even better.
This man is like a real life British Agent York.
Best new character Detective Jenks
All caps ACTING MODE was full present in this game.
This guy just, eats the screen.
Huh, never realized before they solved it right away in a flippant comment.
Colors of the game look very different on my system (OSX). Something seems to be wrong with the green colors.
British L.A. Noire doesn't look too shabby.
When Alex mentioned Colombo I was like "OMG Vinny gonna do it".. and 14:41 xD yep pure gold. I
My favorite quick look team playing a quirky FMV game? Today was a good day.
I would buy a premium Giant Bomb subscription just to see this game played to its completion.
full playthrough, please!
I wonder if Paul and Ryan Rand's father Ron has already passed away or not...
This review got me watching GB regularly. Also killed my data usage bill in July 15.
I would really like to see these guys do an Endurance Run of the game HARVESTER.
Where did they find this guy? In need of work I should imagine!
You guys are being too hard on this game. It's really well shot and edited, and I don't know how intentional the main character's acting is, but he's certainly entertaining. This looks like a legitimately really good game.
FunkyVerbV2 It is!

How did you open the subtitles?
I couldn't find any option about it and there is no information on Internet to open subtitles :)
Recommendation: Black Dahlia. That game was amazing and was similar to this style. Quite long too. Though a bit old. It got really crazy near the end.
Did ElectricalBeast grow up and become an actor?
All its missing is the Midsomer Murders license and this would be perfect.
You should REALLY do a premium feature full playthrough of this.
You guys need to keep playing though, endurance run it!
this is glorious
this is like face noir except actually kind of charming in a weird way
why is this happening
Fellturtle because sometimes...
we actually can have nice things
Because 7 years ago, a young Peruvian boy named Brad Shoemaker was born.
Fellturtle Because Tesla Effect
Ah just one more thing, wot-wot, cheerio
I would have liked to see them go through this whole game, was great commentary.
They did, it's behind a paywall on their site.
Emma saw the victim at the library on Friday but said she went home on Thursday - BOOM!
"Let's make fun of a good game for an hour."
Drew1749 They aren't making fun, they are having fun.
Drew1749 That detective definitely warrants being made fun of.
Drew1749 16:01
Drew1749 Ever heard of RiffTrax?
AverageO rifftrax aint got nothin on the bomb crew!
FINISH IT!
Geno344 YES!
I really think Steam is an awful platform because I had no idea that this had come out even though it's great it just got flooded with shitty Greenlight games so nobody knew it existed!
Alexander L It needs quality control really. As a platform it's fine. But they aren't hiring people to weed out the trash.
Alexander L I mean if you were looking when it came out, it would have been one of the first ones. And nobody knew it existed except for a popular video game website
The color palette is off. In my own and other people's playthroughs the video is more clean and less washed out, must be something on GBE's end.

AverageO They have to change the settings in A/V. Too bright.
GB take note - a full playthrough of this is what will get me to buy a premium account. I'd much rather watch you play it than play it myself!
This is just great XD
As someone who lives in an English village I can tell you that there is nowhere in the world more boring to set something that in one.
That guy doesnt look like Cumberbatch but rather Matt Smith, another Dr. Who.
ElyskeTheDonut But, Cumberbatch isn't a Doctor (Who)
Matt Smith was the 11th Doctor, right after Tenant
ThePieFace42 every british actor is doctor who
ElyskeTheDonut That's exactly what I thought. Matt Smith that just got scared so horribly his hair and skin turned white.
Every time Austin suggested they do a thing and it didn't work, it bummed me out. Because the game Austin thought this was is a significantly better one.
PLEASE FINISH THIS
bagamingshow YES PLS!
Jeeez, the "acting" in this game.
"Matchsticks? Fffuck!"
obviously as soon as he says ''need some water?'' tells me that hes lying.
Oh my god, the Chief is Vinny
_directed by m nyght shymaylnyln_
Corny as all hell, but I really like it
It's one of those games where you can tell someone put a lot of love into it, and even though it's no Silent Hill 2 it has a certain charm.
@@Telamon8 Silent Hill 2 is rated 9 while this is about 8
Not far!
If they fixed the UI, I'd be all over this! Hell, I'll probably get it anyway.
Discord Kantus Get it. U get used to the interface in 20 minutes.
Simon is a blonde Steve Winwood.
I wish they would just port this to console like they did all the other games by this publisher.
This guy's overacting is endlessly amusing!
Great game
Here because of at dead at night
VAPE LIFE
Katil REBECCA Kate'in Ryan ile ilişkisi olduğunu düşündüğü için öldürüyor, oysa Ryan'ın Emma ile ilişkisi var.Yanlış kızı öldürüyor.
The acting is so bad that it genuinely makes it impossible for me to figure out if any of these people are lying or not.
You guys talked way too much over the intro video.
This game had a kickstarter budget of £4000 and the director usually does TV commercials so think it turned out quite well xD
