Man, I have an old Ibanez semi-hollow that I put a JB/59 set in almost 20 years ago that’s just been collecting dust. I was gonna restore it with new pots and tuners and put a Freeway 6-way switch in to give it some extra tones, but that JB in parallel just inspired me to add that to the list upgrades I wanna make to this guitar now. What a cool sound, absolutely sounds like a Tele on steroids.
Thanks for bringing up other wiring options. So many guitarists, especially in rock and metal, are happy with series wiring and that's it, probably because they don't know how to install pickups with the Triple Shot. I have a Jackson Warrior guitar with Dimebucker with a JB in the neck with Triple Shots. It really balances out well because of what you said--the JB changes a lot depending on how it is wired. In fact, I like the JB better in the neck than in the bridge. An Original Parallel Axis might be more my taste. I also have a BC Rich Mockingbird with a Custom/Custom 5 setup. Those two pickups change a lot too when used with Triple Shots. Very versatile, especially with a tone knob, phase switch, and killswitch.
Awesome vid. Should have more love. The rhetoric with the JB has pretty much made it an underrated pickup, which is kind of funny, considering its origins. It is a mule that can need tamed at times, but because of that, it gives you so much versatility if it's used correctly. I have a hard time keeping them out of my Humbucker guitars, because I find myself missing it when I try to intentionally mix things up amongst my guitars and their tonal options.
I recently purchased a Charvel pro mod 2 that has the JB/59 combo and it sounds great! It's the tele style ash body version with the HT bridge. It came stock with the coil split on volume and no load tone control. Can get some convincing Tele tones out of it as is. My question is do you think I should leave as is or switch it up. I have another LP with the JP wiring and JB/Jazz combo so I was thinking maybe just to resist the temptation of messing with a sound I like. Excellent demonstration and playing by the way and that LP you have is sweet.
Thanks! Definitely keep the JB/59 that Charvel, don't change. I like that combo very much too. JB is pretty versatile with coil- split and parallel wirings. Parallel is great also because with that, you can have almost like PAF pickup sound so it's like two pickups in one, or three when using coil- split too.
Thanks for your video. Excellent. Have put set of these in my PRS SE245 and they sound great

Agree
Isn't the JB the highest selling pickup in the world? I think that makes it appropriately rated as the best pickup in the world ;)
@@coltonmuri3672 Haha yeah 🙂 JB is good but little too compressed for my taste these days.

Take the cover off the neck pickup. Sounds so much better.
dimarzio dp 100 and dimarzio dp 103 best puikaps
Absolutely not. Especially not in a Les Paul.
