There's now an extra sad caveat to the Friday The 13th story, seeing all that updates and additional content on the game have to be halted due to the legal rights to the franchise are being up in the air again
Putting a happier tale after sub story was probably intended as a pallet cleanser--a nice idea. But the tonal shift from from brutal murder to jokey self-promotion was whiplash-inducing.
Ohh!! I heard about the Submarine story! Lazy Masquerade told the story in one of his unsolved mysteries videos. Last time I heard, it was unsolved. Glad to hear the man is finally in prison and was charged with everything. The one thing i didn’t realize was that it was a kickstarter story too! That surprised me alot...
same here, i was wondering "haven't I heard this from somewhere else?" then I read your comment and it hit me.. glad to see we finally got an ending to the mystery
That was a particularly interesting video, thank you for reminding me of where I heard that story before! I was scratching my brain trying to figure out where I heard it from originally.
Have you ever covered Hiveswap in one of your videos? It's a pretty fascinating story--the kickstarter was a success, the developer took all the money to make their own game leaving the actual creator in the dust, and the creator had to make his own video game company and make the game from scratch with none of the funds from the campaign--and it somehow managed to work out and everyone got what they were promised!
@@madzi9574 You must be joking. It's just not as popular as it used to be in its heyday, but the fandom is still very big. Since the part 2 of Hiveswap is on hiatus, they are releasing Hiveswap Friendsim where we can meet the trolls closer, and it created its own fandom like that. Then there is the fantroll fandom as well, the spriting fandom, and the actual comic fandom still going strong. I think Homestuck is one of very few franchises that has a lot of sub-fandoms.
*shivers* Ugh, I funded that damn thing. And I only got one thing from what I was promised. And it wasn't the copy of the game. But there was no chance of a refund either. Honestly, I'd like it in a video just so I can laugh at the damn mess.
*Sigh* It was all over the news in Scandinavia with the murder of Kim Wall by Peter, it made my blood run cold when I read about what he did AND the fact that he had all that hardcore snuff shit on his computer. Plus even more disturbing is that Madsen allegedly admitted later to that he slept next to Kim's corpse. But there's more, he's also being investigated for a murder that happened in Denmark of a female Japanese 22 year old tourist by the name of Kazuko Toyonaga back in 1986, as it turned out Madsen was not far from the place where parts of her body had been found, she had also been dismembered like Kim Wall was and there are plenty of similarities between the two cases. As it stands, this whole thing is far from over and I would not be surprised if the Danish authorities go out and say that they're charging Peter with the murder of Toyonaga.
I mean, he's already been charged with life in prison. What more are they gonna give him? I think death would be too kind. Maybe they could put him in a shittier prison. That would be nice.
@@bilibiliism He's probably murdered a number of women on his subs and ditched the corpses far out at sea. Just he made the mistake of murdering someone who had an appointment, and thus people who knew she would be there... overconfidence is always the downfall of serial killers. Why the arguments over who owned the sub unless he was 'using' it frequently? I bet a lot of jane does died in his 3 subs.
The submarine sounds like a movie plot. I know, I know it's not a movie and the bad guy was a sick freak and I get that, but even still... It's the plot of a horror thriller but with a real art house ending.
I'd bet serious money on several scripts already in existence just waiting the appropriate amount of time for studio negotiations. First comes tasteful documentaries, then docu-dramas with up and coming actors, then a full movie featuring one or more A-listers aiming for oscar gold accompanied by a gritty novel that either the victim or murderer's relatives will attempt legal action over. This will turn out to be a publicity stunt and the ensuing legal battles and scandal will spawn a second wave of documentaries etc. It's a carefully calculated business strategy from the days before TV even existed, sadly. tl;dr it sickens me but you are 100% correct, my friend.
At first, I was thinking it sounded like the perfect plot to a Phoenix Wight case. One of those nearly impossible-to-solve, humorously contrived mysteries where two people go into a private submarine, and only one comes up and you have to defend him from an implausible story. ........but then it turns out he really DID do it, and he was a sick asshole and it would be in bad taste to adapt this as a case. Still, it was kind of a good idea for an idea for a case for that game, until the disturbing ending showed up.
A bit of background checking and due diligence would have stopped that from happening, ironic that the dead woman was a Journalist. Which makes it perfect material, considering the stupidity of it all if one uses basic observation skills for a few seconds, let alone minutes.
Madsen was a well known character in Danish media prior to inviting Kim to his sub. He hosted Ted talks, stared in documentaries and went on children's television to explain how you build a rocket. People knew him as an eccentric and charismatic 'inventor type'. How was she supposed to know he was a bonafide murderous psychopath? He had committed no prior violent crime (that we know of), and he had given tours in the sub to many people, including a class of schoolchildren. It's easy to say in hindsight, "we'll he's clearly wrong in the head", but the fucked up videos he had on his pc weren't known by anyone until police searched his home after the murder. Kim didn't have access to the contents of his private computer or the sick workings of his mind, and she had no reason to believe there was anything dangerous about going down in that sub. That poor woman. Imagine the terror she must have felt when he showed his true face.
I believe the requirement for something to be called "snuff porn" is that it must be then sold on the black market. If the pictures/videos of the murder weren't sold, they don't count as snuff.
I remember reading about her torso and subsequent body parts being found (I read international news often). Last I saw he was denying any part in her murder (I also didn't hear about the snuff porn stuff), but kept changing his story. I think he had changed it 5 or 6 times when I heard, and 2 stories were to a journalist friend trying to investigate her murder (who sadly, also ended up being murdered about a year later - in a different area of the world). Anyone with 2 brain cells could tell he killed her. I just had no idea he had funded his subs through kickstarter. I'm also happy to hear he got a life in prison sentence as his charges were so lax (involuntary manslaughter on a woman who was repeatedly stabbed and dismembered, *really* ???)
Neo Saturos That’s like saying something isn’t child porn because it wasn’t sold. Also, thinking snuff is only sold on the black market? Someone hasn’t been to South America. But, no one said the guy made snuff porn during the murder. The police found snuff porn on his computer. He didn’t record the murder. So, yes, even by your false definition it was snuff porn because it he got it from another source. She was never part of a snuff film. They simply pointed out that they way he murderer her was probably because of his fetish for snuff films.
Emerald kat He didn’t get convicted with involuntary manslaughter, he got convicted for premeditated murder, sexual assault, and desecration of a corpse. The “involuntary manslaughter” charge was before they had her body or could even prove she died. She was just missing at that point. Do people even listen to the videos that they comment on? You literally just have to rewind or fast forward a little to make sure you’re getting your facts right.
I read about the topic a while back, and it turns out that "too successful" campaigns on KickStarter is a thing that happens more often than one might think. Basically, the idea is, the people behind the campaign now feel extra pressure to deliver, and that can cause them to second-guess themselves at every turn which can lead to delays, and backs can have higher expectations than can actually be delivered, so that a perfectly adequate product (meaning, what was promised was what they got) is unjustly viewed as a let-down.
I think the simpler explanation is that many people don't know what it takes to deliver a product that big and that many are just incapable. I count myself in the latter and if I were ever to try to run a kickstarter at that level, I'd have to make sure I surrounded myself with people I was confident could help me carry it off.
@@chaos.corner I used to help run a game store with my dad and he wound up meeting up with a guy who had successfully funded a board game called The Stonebound Saga. It was a really cool team-based PvP game with a huge array of heroes to choose from with varying power levels to give all sorts of variety in balance. They used high quality card stock, the board was nice, custom made dice, lots of different artists, specially designed character stat boards... was a very nice game all around. We met the guy because he was misinformed on being able to sell his game in the game room at Origins one year and was directed to our booth to help him sell the game, which led to us promoting it and making a deal to sell it in our store afterward. All sounds great... but then came the real issue. His Kickstarter provided enough money to make and sell the game directly, but he wasn't going to profit until he was able to get it into distribution. He had no idea how that kind of thing worked, and ultimately made it impossible for him to hope for more than breaking even. All those high quality materials he used weren't a big cost to him when he didn't have middle men to deal with, but once he learned he wouldn't profit unless his game retailed at twice what he wanted to sell it for... I heard a lot of other game makers we knew were blown away with how much he put into basically having too much quality. All to say, you are right that you definitely want to do your research and try to reach out to people if you can because your long-term success (at least in board gaming) is a lot more complicated than Kickstarter makes it seem.
Yeah. I heard Peter Madsen, thought "I know that name"... Then, submarines were mentioned and my mind went "oh yeah, Wasn't he the guy who... Oh fudge... This is going dark..."
Hey raiden the troll, I thank you. You are great inspiration for my antagonist in a book I'm writing. Also I know 100% that ur a troll so I don't even care what you say lol.
I definitely didn't see that submarine story going the way it did either. There are some very bad people in the world, to be sure. I know it happened some time ago at this point, but my thoughts still go out to Kim Wall's family.
I heard of that on the news (TVN24 to be specific) actually. They said the murderer was "A Danish inventor" and "a millionaire" without going into much detail
Wait, were people seriously asking him to do a successful-Kickstarter-stories video? That's seriously boring. The trainwrecks are so much more interesting. So glad he put this extra spin on it.
But there's a negative side to only showing bad campaigns. Every time I see these bad kickstarter videos (from DJ Slope and any other youtuber) I keep getting the impression that every Kickstarter are failures and keep thinking why people still support crowdfunding. I have to constantly remind myself that not every campaign turns out awful but a positive reinforcement would be much more believable, like the last one. If he didn't end it with a positive note, I would never have heard of that game, which I'm going to buy right now.
Feel good success stories are fun too, though so is some hardship. Maybe Kickstarters that almost failed but made it (through last minute attention and donations or otherwise). I think I've seen Kickstarter games almost fail but succeed after a UA-camr played them. Think it happened with Jim Sterling once.
I know. I knew nothing at all about this. I don't watch the news or TV [except the World Cup but even the adverts are burning a hole in my brain just watching the ad breaks in that!] so when they said the Danish engineer appeared with the sub at 10:30am the next day I was NOT expecting him to have butchered the poor woman. I mean, the last thing he was going to get away with was murdering anyone he invited onto his bloody sub!! She MUST have had at least a couple of thousand followers on Twitter and/or facebook so it's sheer madness that this bastard actually believed nobody would notice his crime!? Probably a decent engineer but a sick, twisted, almost childlike psychopath. So many people are registered with at least 2 social media platforms and a journalist would be registered with at least every major outlet so what in god's name made him believe he could in any way get away with such a horrendous crime?? There are cameras on most peoples' mobiles and CCTV everywhere! It's the behaviour of a 12 year old psycho-schoolboy - Note I said 'psycho' schoolboy... not just your normal schoolkid who is probably a bit mischievous and might enjoy watching some sick stuff online but to actually enact such a brutally vicious crime is... well, I seriously was not expecting that. I was expecting her to be washed up a few score miles away and suffering from hyperthermia. It really knocked me for six. The evil bastard obviously planned her murder.
The guy with the sub not only lost the rest of his life but everything before too, he dedicated his life to those subs and sank his best one to try get away with 1 murder. I can't imagine what it's like to be so obsessed with a fetish that you would throw everything you've worked for and the rest of you life just to try it once
and to top it all of he is now being investigated for another murder that happened in the 80's because the female victims remains were treated in a similar manner.
I think the one were the guy killed that woman and threw her body pieces into the sea should have been at number 1, it was a bit more serious than a troll I think but hey ho...
A sell-out to WHO? You do know he doesn't get any BENEFIT from shilling the game, right? IT WAS A JOKE. Sell-outs have to GET something from the people he's promoting to actually BE a "sell-out". He was being funny.
Couldn’t the Glory to Rome guy just find someone online who could speak Chinese? I feel like in the 21st century, finding someone online who’s willing to do business and is multilingual shouldn’t be a death sentence to a business.
they usually cost. And cost A LOT. You really are dumb if you think it is that easy. BTW and professional interpreter that is freelance would cost $90 per hour. I know because my ex was a sign interpreter at a court. She got £275 for four hours. To put it into comparison: the average wage in the UK is about £13 per hour. And the median average of weekly was is about £500. Compared to a interpreter whom working full time would earn £2750 per week. (Oh and just to let you know that them employing one full time would mean that person would earn more than probably any other staff member...) May I just say that your ending was retarded... Finding people in China that speak good English is actually difficult. Yes, currently there are more people in China learning English than there are people in America who can... But it's still way under 50% of the company. It is actually advised you speak some of their language as it makes the relationship better. This is why western companies like to employ bi-lingual graduates. But I am sure that using an online translator will look really good in business. LOL.
Yeah...seems like his response was a bit extreme. Could've just explained things. Apparently people didn't know that info but I guess we live in a world where you cant ask a question without being needlessly belittled for it
"Just to clarify this is just a skin, nothing more" Well if you actually looked you would have known it was actually a playable version Jason with it's own unique stats, not just a skin. If you want an example of just a skin, Retro Jason is just that. Same stats as Part 3 with same model and just different textures and music.
Metty, actually whereas you are right (it being an actual Jason) it is called a skin because of how it works. It is not a separate character model. You call other's ignorant, yet display such veracious naivety. The normal model is skinned and has special attributes that are changed. Such as high vanity. But you want proof? From the designers and the devs: 4) Steam DLC not showing up in game - Currently the Savini Jason Skin DLC and Counselor Clothing Pack do not show up in the game after the code is entered. The team at Illfonic is working on a patch to address this issue. Do not worry, the items are there and associated with your account, they will be fully enabled soon in the next update. See that important word? SKIN. It IS a SKIN. But hey, if you want to be ignorant... be my guest? Oh and that is from Backerkit and Kickstarter. From the OFFICIAL page.
Skins are purely cosmetic things, Savini was not simply cosmetic. But hey, you do you bud. I got better things to do than argue with people clearly worse off than the F13 sub who can't handle the truth.
Metty is right. No amount of butthurt is going to change that. Seriously, i'm on Metty's side here. Everyone has to bitch and moan and dogpile on a guy who is 100% right, trying to take him down a peg because they're indignant about the way he said it. But no. Metty is right. This WAS a research fail on Slope's part, and Metty isn't wrong. He's not even wrong on a technicality. It was not a skin. It was a character. Fact, and end of story.
it is not JUST a skin, it is a skin + different stats. skin part is not a problem, different stats make it an time limited P2W bullshit for which they can go suck satans cock in hell. hope they have to close the studio after this. they fucked up the game anyway, that shit is not f13th and that creeature is not the unstoppable force of nature that is jason
Yeah, I was expecting to hear the tragic underwater death of a hobbyist engineer, not the trial of a psychopathic murderer who reenacted "The Tell Tale Heart" at sea. It kind of makes me wonder if he had done this before with other victims, and we only know about this instance because his submarine malfunctioned. It makes me wonder if *this* was the reason he made a submarine in the first place.
jack squatt people don't regularly go missing in Denmark. And there's a lot of cicumstancial evidence that it was a first attempt at making snuff porn. By the way, they found a video camera, but no tape. Wonder where that ended up.
Actually, Savini Jason wasn't just a skin. Unlike Retro Jason, who was a reskin of Part 3 Jason, it was a unique Jason with his own abilities and unique weapon. Some people didn't take too kindly to this, and whilst I can understand them giving kickstarter backers a reward, giving them something that actually has unique functionality isn't exactly the smartest idea in the world. But perhaps the biggest slap in the face to anyone who backed the game, or even just bought it once they saw it for themselves was the lawsuit that caused the game to halt all future content with no intentions of continuing it once a settlement with the lawsuit is reached.
Wery intresting story about Peter Madsen. We swedes mostly got the Kim Wall's story as an freelance journalist and her relatives, and then closely followed the Court process of Peter Madsen. Nothing was told about the Indiegogo's and Peter Madsen as a genius guy (Or perhaps it did, but then it was just an footnote that I never saw...) Never expected to see that story on an Kickscammer episode!
Peter wasn't all that much of a genious, he's just charismatic and incredibly ambitious. His main gripe with the other rocket builders was about the required level of calculations. Peter wanted to skip all that and just weld, while the others wanted to make sure nobody got killed.
I really think 'star citizen' needs the Slopes treatment. It's a hell of a story $180 million thus far, a game supposed to be released in 2014/2015 and still years off. Questionable fund management (including rumours of money miss spent on devs partners acting career) horrendous time management. There is so much going on here it could easily cover a whole episode on its own!!!
Graknorke there's already such a story though. And the worrying thing is, Roberts is in no rush as people still keep giving him money. The latest package made me laugh, $27,000!!! (But only if you are foolish enough to have already put $1000 into the game) Studios have been opened and then closed haha. All very worrying. The problem is he's making money on an unfinished game, he has no reason to finish as that would slow the money. Roberts also has a concerning track record of doing this several times before, with one game only being completed when Microsoft stepped in and Roberts left!!!
You could argue Star Citizen is one of the Most ingenious and. Successful crowdfunding successes. Chris Roberts simply continues to add stuff as Long as Money keeps flooding in. He could Release the Game at any given State now, but PC Gamers are such obedient sheep that they continue to Push Money in His pockets and Attack any Form of criticism that May arise.
17:42 Have you ever had an empty bottle in a pool? It floats if it's empty, partially floats if it's half full, and sinks if it's full. Same principle on a bigger scale.
ahaaa.. So that was the story behind that submarine thing. Kept hearing about it here in sweden about someone killing a journalist. Something about a submarine. Never mentioned anythign about the Kickstarter thing. BUt yeah. Something about the hatch falling on her and then stuff hapening. Hmm.: interesting.
I wonder why did Friday the 13th devs even buy the license if they needed extra money afterwards, it just makes no sense to me. I'm not sure did they buy the license or get it but wouldn't you think that if they bought it they shouldn't have and just focused on developing the game? I am referring to other incidents that happened with this game because the skin is one of many scandals
I'm not convinced the murder should have been on this list. Perhaps its own video if you wanted to discuss it but honestly putting it almost in the middle meant I was just dwelling on it for the whole last segment. I wouldn't go as far as calling it disrepectful but it puts everything else in perspective.
That was crazy to hear the name Mighty Rabbit on this video. I know those guys personally, I went to school with them, and even started my own (less successful) game company in the same incubator as them. We all worked in the same office for about a year. Never expected to see anything of theirs on a youtube video, that's crazy!
That reporter one always gets me. Can you imagine being that reporter, probably excited to be reporting on something deemed that important, having it explained to you by someone deemed an important person, and than having it turn into a nightmare and just like that you're gone from the world. It's why nothing infuriates me more than people protecting celebrities who do harmful and shitty things.
Even worse is she was a reporter who had gone to many war-ridden and dangerous countries. I imagine she in no way considered this little interview with "eccentric" inventor Peter Madsen to be of any danger. The last picture taken of her, innocently smiling from the submarine next to her would-be murderer is just so sad when you know the horrible things he did to her shortly after.
the story about the sub guy gets even more crazy, last week he escaped from prison, and told cops he was wearing a bomb belt, it was a hours long stand off...
im so disturbed by that poor woman going to interview this guy about his sub , he gets her alone under the water and decides to live out his fucked up snuff fantasy , then sinks his sub like thats gonna save him, thats so fucked up i cannot imagine the fear that poor woman must have felt :( never go somewhere alone with someone you dont know
Thanks for all your wonderful content! It's been a real mood booster watching your old stuff, and rewatching the classics. You've made my plague much better 😷
Thanks for another great Kickscammers vid. Tbh that person who commented on a man who lost everything because he didnt get his bored game can die in a fire. I didnt see that as a sob story but as a person who tried and failed to provide a product but circumstances beyond his control made him lose it all. As for the entry on the engineer freaking wow. It always seems to be the intelligent ones with the most screws loose. And also for Dimension drive seriously screw that troll at least it got funded on the second go around. Keep up the good work Slopes and more livestreams if you can I always enjoy watching you play and interacting with us the fans
Wait why didn't he bring up how, F13 is a dead game that cannot be updated because of a lawsuit, which cancelled a lot, A LOT, of promised content, leaving the game in a broken buggy mess.
"...the ballast tank, which apparently holds air and water to vary the sub's buoyancy. Whatever that means." Please tell me you're joking. This is like, fifth-grade science here.
Not even that. The fact that container full of air floats while a container that has something inside it (like water in this case) sinks is pre-school knowledge.
I'm grateful for Lazy Masquerade's video informing me about the submarine story but HOLY HELL is it absolutely horrific. I feel so sorry for Kim and her family. I hope they're doing okay.
As a huge Friday the 13th fan, and a staunch supporter of that game, I feel that it just couldn't catch a break. It took off, did well, but then it was a constant barrage of bugs and issues. Now, this, to me anyway, is acceptable, as Gun is a small team. It takes them time to weed out and kill off those things. But the internet...being the internet threw a hissy fit about it. That's bad enough, but despite that, the game is in a good spot and has seen regular free content updates and even some fairly priced paid cosmetic DLC. Until the recent lawsuit involving rights to the series and in particular Jason Voorhees as a character reared it's ugly head. The case has been around for a while but initially it was believed that it wouldn't affect the video game and instead only the movie rights for the franchise. Of course as anyone who's followed this game knows...that unfortunately is no longer the case. And it was announced that all future content for the game will no longer be happening. Gun's hands are tied, they legally CANNOT do so with a cease and desist. And then when asked if in the future if the case gets ruled over, will they then continue development on the planned content? The answer of course being no, because they'd have to work now on content that may or may not ever be able to be released. That's understandably upset a lot of folks. But if you look at it realistically, can you blame them? Spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on content now that you may very well NEVER get to use, or suck it up and call it quits. The decision makes logical sense, no matter how much it sucks to admit that. But the good news is that the game's servers are staying up and the promised dedicated server implementation for the console version of the game is still scheduled to happen. You can still play the game just fine, just no further content will be added. It'll still be moderated and patched for bugs though. Thole whole saga for this game has been an emotional roller coaster for a fan of it, and it's unfortunate, because it really IS a super cool and fun game, and a complete love letter for fans of the franchise with a lot of attention paid to minute series details.
The game worked very well for the multiplayer experience it has though. And it actually IS still really fun. This lawsuit is flat out just unfortunate. And it's not just affecting this game either. This is also why there hasn't been a new Friday the 13th film since 2009's reboot. It's just plain ugly for fans of this franchise.
As a dane it's crazy hearing people talk about Peter Madsen as if it's a strange obscure story haha it was one of the biggest stories of the century in danish media
When did Sessler decide to go with the Mr. Clean look? I liked him during the Extended Play days, before he became a punching bag character for "lel gamur gurl" Morgan Webb. Maybe that is why he is so beta now? He never got out of character.
Dude, don't joke about pneumonia. That shit is scary. I suffered from Legionnaires a few years ago and barely survived it and was out of work for a month just from the hospital.
What what wait now hold on they got the sub found nothing but said "Fuck it get him anyway." that is not good. "Ah Rob but he did kill her." That does not justify it. If finding something after the fact justified it then cops could just show up at your door say "We got nothing on you. But fuck you we are taking you in anyway. Then after that we will find a reason why it was ok." would you be ok with that happening to you more so if you did not do anything?
This video was way more interesting than I expected - subscribed. I've heard of people trying desperately to hunt down a copy of Glory to Rome, but I had no idea this was the story behind that. And wow - the submarine story really threw me. It was so much worse than anything I could have imagined.
Regarding the sub story, I don't understand why he got charged with manslaughter instead of murder. It sounds like it was clearly premeditated and without provocation. I'm not a lawyer, but that sounds like murder to me...
3:18 Completely unrelated to the video but, that music in the back. Man, now that takes me back. Haven't heard that in well over a decade now, back when I used to play Monopoly on my computer. Those were good times...simpler times, before I got older and started to realize how much growing up and being an adult sucked a big one.

Daniel Ibbertson Would you do a part 3 on Friday The 13th since more has come to light with the lawsuit going on right now over the property? Also keep up the awesome work.
On the one hand, Dimension Drive looks cool, as do the Limited Editions. On the other hand, Play-Asia deliberately pandered to and stirred up some of the most toxic elements of the community in the wake of the DoAX3 debacle, in which an official announcement that it wasn't coming to the US suddenly got people caring about a game that would have sold about 5 copies without that, but they were totally legit in stating it was concerns about feminist criticism and those evil SJWs and it wasn't at all a cynical marketing stunt that also saved them from needing any real marketing or distribution budget.
He didn't forget, he just didn't know. Guess maybe he'll have to follow it up, later. I mean it just happened, so I can forgive him for not knowing. Less excusable is him calling the Savini Jason "just a skin" and saying "Mega Man 9" instead of "Mighty No 9". Both actual massive fails on his part.
23:19 : I'm awful sorry for that guy. I'm a Twitch streamer and I did got a huge wave of followers once. Until I realized they where fraudulent followers. (Or a bot attack) So I took 90 minutes removing them one by one.
The biggest tragedy of the Friday the 13th game was how it got caught up in the lawsuit over who owns Jason Vorhees and so they had to stop adding new content...right when they were working on adding a Jason X skin and level to the game. It really is a fun game, better than Dead by Daylight in my opinion.
Parody doesn't usually include the whole 4chan 'autistic screeching' thing. Where I am from that is just called: 'being a wanker'. Glad I saw this comment before seeing your channel. *NeverSubbed* :)
No joke. I’m volunteering at a retro game event in Scotland right now that has all major home consoles and arcades cabinets from the last 40 years, I heard a song paying in the background and thought “is that Slopes games room’s theme song” when I sow it was Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 I felt really stupid. You’re main source of info on older games and franchises because I’m only 17.
Very interesting video, and boy did that get dark fast! Amazing when these stories kind of reveal themselves to you, you go in expecting one thing, and it just gets worse, and worse! Wow.
Frankie Boyle did that joke about Sudam Hussain's execution... It is one thing to retell a joke... but to take one and pass it off as your own is slightly cringe... I mean that is more cringing than when your mother gets drunk and starts shoving things up her bargain bucket. It's depressing to watch and sometimes I ask myself "is it right to be laughing at someone with learning difficulties" ... Even worse is people paying her to do it! I should feel bad for doing that and for paying her with monopoly money... She never notices!
In response to Ed Carta, I don’t think it’s his fault. The game became successful, but then everything immediately worked against him and screwed him over.
4:07 no wonder the campaign went downhill. He's holding the phone upsidedown. It's gonna be even harder to communicate with manufacturers that way
TheMasterKrook what if the phones on speaker?
gnomed
Was just about to post about that lol. Then I figured someone else saw it and here it is!
Duh, he's in a different hemisphere... ;)
He’s just talking to Australia
There's now an extra sad caveat to the Friday The 13th story, seeing all that updates and additional content on the game have to be halted due to the legal rights to the franchise are being up in the air again
Josh's Asian Media Extravaganza it’s too bad. It was a great idea and it sounds like they got a lot of the initial problems fixed.
No, there are still plenty of technical issues with the game that haven't been resolved yet.
Josh's Asian Media Extravaganza Well, it was a fun game while it lasted. #SaveJason
Could I still get a physical copy?
Yes, there are still physical copies out there.
As soon I heard the words "swedish reporter", I was like "Oh shit, it's that story."
Yeah, I was like EVERYONE here knows about that one. Guess it didn't make it outside of the Scandinavian countries.
It got alot of attention in Germany. I am really surprised how many people in the comments wrote, they never heared about it.
+SoramimiKeiki Yeah same here.
It definitely was fairly big in Poland as well.
@@blyjd91 Yes it did, everyone knows that story
Putting a happier tale after sub story was probably intended as a pallet cleanser--a nice idea. But the tonal shift from from brutal murder to jokey self-promotion was whiplash-inducing.
@Uncle Joe Stalin no it doesn't.
Meh.
It’s not that serious
Ghostgirl 708 Man, I love Lazy Masquerade.
Ghostgirl 708 Agreed. Its stunning how freaky that got.
same here, i was wondering "haven't I heard this from somewhere else?" then I read your comment and it hit me..
glad to see we finally got an ending to the mystery
That was a particularly interesting video, thank you for reminding me of where I heard that story before! I was scratching my brain trying to figure out where I heard it from originally.
Ghostgirl 708 halfway through the story i was like oh shit when i saw his face and were the story was heading i was like oh shit i remember this.
Got my friend that game for her birthday! No idea it had undergone all that. Props to the creator for their hard work.
Still, it's fucking horrific to even imagine this scenario playing out once, much less more than once.
if he killed two women already, I suspected this guy killed more people for all the decades has passed.
The Jason models aren't just skins. They also have their own attack methods and tweaked stats, making each one a different-enough experience.
Does it make the Savini codes worth hundreds dollars?
What they say? Real is stranger than fiction?
A kickstarter ended in a dead lady and snuff porn.... Welp I didn't see that coming.
The second you said "submarine" I had alarm bells going off in my head.
TheApachacha same here :-) didn't knew about the kickstarter stuff but of course the story of the killing was in the news everywhere also in Germany
Plus it would have ended the episode on a pretty sad note. Not to say one can't do that but the whole idea was to bring this up into light in general.
First words out of my mouth were "oh shit, oh damn I know what this is gonna be..."
Yeah. I heard Peter Madsen, thought "I know that name"... Then, submarines were mentioned and my mind went "oh yeah, Wasn't he the guy who... Oh fudge... This is going dark..."
jmalmsten I had the same reaction. Just "Wait, I know that na--- ohshit."
I mean I was not expecting it to get that dark ...
I guess that every Dane watching this video knew exactly where that story was going. Every Danish news source has been following the case.
He took us for a ride.
Most people in Northern Europe would know where it was heading as it was a pretty big story over here in the UK and other countries as well.
Cool troll bro.
Hey raiden the troll, I thank you. You are great inspiration for my antagonist in a book I'm writing. Also I know 100% that ur a troll so I don't even care what you say lol.
Jesus. That submarine one was sick. To see that dude waving and smiling right after he did that to that poor woman.
I definitely didn't see that submarine story going the way it did either. There are some very bad people in the world, to be sure. I know it happened some time ago at this point, but my thoughts still go out to Kim Wall's family.
Still shook up after watching this ages ago.
thought that story was pretty well known
TheCivildecay: Well I tend to read about music news. So I didn't know.
MGlBlaze I have never heard this story till today and man my heart hurts for that family because of a disgusting man
I heard of that on the news (TVN24 to be specific) actually. They said the murderer was "A Danish inventor" and "a millionaire" without going into much detail
Can you prove you AREN'T guru Larry?
I'm afraid not
*x-files theme*
But seriously, I love this series my dude. Nice job!
Daniel Ibbertson I’ve seen you two in the same room, but if they can fake the moon landing, they can fake that. #Nasa
Well, there's the different dialects. But, that can be faked.
Did he mention Molyneux?
Crossovers basically. Only showing the bad ones makes kickstarter look bad and hurts the good projects
Feel good success stories are fun too, though so is some hardship. Maybe Kickstarters that almost failed but made it (through last minute attention and donations or otherwise).
I think I've seen Kickstarter games almost fail but succeed after a UA-camr played them. Think it happened with Jim Sterling once.
correct, im glad others understand this also
"Hey, a new DJ Slope video I can watch while making and eating my lunch!"
"Maybe I'll just save the rest of my plate for dinner."
Guess the backers are going to remember the day they backed a project just for a hardcore snuff film.
Yeah, that left me feeling rather ill as well ._. That poor woman...
"Aw man those poor Friday the 13th guys can't catch a break. What's this about a subma-" * spits beer all over keyboard *
4:01 That quality stock footage of a phone call with the phone upside down lol
I was just about to mention it!
I came here for Jason. Ended up hearing about a real life killer.
It was nice to see Sessler again too. Haven't seen him since X-Play
I think the one were the guy killed that woman and threw her body pieces into the sea should have been at number 1, it was a bit more serious than a troll I think but hey ho...
I don't think they were in any order, if it was, I think he would've put Top in the title.
Plus I think he added the last one to be like a more feel good ending, to lessen the blow. Whether or not it worked, Your mileage may vary
He put it on first place because he is a sell out ... thats why he wants you to buy the game using the link on his channel.
He doesn't order them, just list them.
(Oh and just to let you know that them employing one full time would mean that person would earn more than probably any other staff member...)
May I just say that your ending was retarded...
LOL.
Nick Armitt You seem angry.
Goldarlives I'm guessing he's had something similar happen to him.
Yeah...seems like his response was a bit extreme. Could've just explained things. Apparently people didn't know that info but I guess we live in a world where you cant ask a question without being needlessly belittled for it
or could just hire me only 9.99 usd

"Just to clarify this is just a skin, nothing more" Well if you actually looked you would have known it was actually a playable version Jason with it's own unique stats, not just a skin. If you want an example of just a skin, Retro Jason is just that. Same stats as Part 3 with same model and just different textures and music.
It actually had three of the best perks. But hey if you want to be ignorant be my guest.
Metty, actually whereas you are right (it being an actual Jason) it is called a skin because of how it works. It is not a separate character model. You call other's ignorant, yet display such veracious naivety. The normal model is skinned and has special attributes that are changed. Such as high vanity.
But you want proof? From the designers and the devs:
4) Steam DLC not showing up in game - Currently the Savini Jason Skin DLC and Counselor Clothing Pack do not show up in the game after the code is entered.
This...this got way too dark...
Indeed.
That just makes it even more bone chilling, the notion that she might not have been his only victim.
jack squatt people don't regularly go missing in Denmark.
Man, your channel...
talk about UNDERRATED!
You genuinely deserve more exposure.
I doubt there will be another Kickstarter story ending in brutal murder and dismemberment

Actually it did. There was pretty big reportages about it right at the beginning of the whole ordeal. Still weird to find that thing here.
But it does seem to keep making progress, slow as it is. I'd wait until it grinds to a halt, to give an actual comprehensive overview.
Fredrik Knudsen made a pretty good video like a year ago about Star Citizen
Graknorke there's already such a story though. And the worrying thing is, Roberts is in no rush as people still keep giving him money. The latest package made me laugh, $27,000!!! (But only if you are foolish enough to have already put $1000 into the game) Studios have been opened and then closed haha. All very worrying. The problem is he's making money on an unfinished game, he has no reason to finish as that would slow the money. Roberts also has a concerning track record of doing this several times before, with one game only being completed when Microsoft stepped in and Roberts left!!!
Yeah, Star Citizen has basically become the Scientology of the video game industry at this point.
You could argue Star Citizen is one of the Most ingenious and. Successful crowdfunding successes. Chris Roberts simply continues to add stuff as Long as Money keeps flooding in. He could Release the Game at any given State now, but PC Gamers are such obedient sheep that they continue to Push Money in His pockets and Attack any Form of criticism that May arise.
that submarine story....jesus that poor girl
I love dimension drive. I have it for switch and pc. The creators are cool people as well. I've hung out at their stream a few times.
I wonder how the Dimension Drive people feel knowing their plug followed the crazy bondage loving submarine killer.
They probably thought it was humorous, in an odd way, if they ever even hear about this.
I’m from Denmark, and when you showed the picture of Peter Madsen I was shocked. That whole ordeal affected our whole country. It was awful.
That submarine thing is just depressing.
0:53 "Hey, Leave Mega Man 9, A Return to Form, Out of This!"
Damn, I wasn't expecting the submarine tale on here. Dark is a huge understatement!!! Great vid though!!!
When I first saw the UC3 Nautilus, I thought "Why do I recognise that guy? Oh no, was it that guy who murdered that journalist on his submarine!?"
*submarine*
Neat.
*journalist*
Wait... this sounds...
oh no
OH NOOOOO
When I heard "self taught danish engineir" I know this creepy story...
I actually really feel bad for the first one.
Darkwolfpocco me too

I remember seeing that guy who murdered that journalist in the news, I didn’t know it all started from Kickstarter though.
the story about the sub guy gets even more crazy, last week he escaped from prison, and told cops he was wearing a bomb belt, it was a hours long stand off...
im so disturbed by that poor woman going to interview this guy about his sub , he gets her alone under the water and decides to live out his fucked up snuff fantasy , then sinks his sub like thats gonna save him, thats so fucked up i cannot imagine the fear that poor woman must have felt :( never go somewhere alone with someone you dont know

You meant "Mighty #9," right? "Mega Man 9" is a really good game and never relied on crowdfunding to get released.
With Ed Carter, that feels less like anybody's fault and more like life shat on him for a bit there

a quick correction Dan, the Jason codes werent just a skin, it was a fully playable character with different upsides, downsides, and kill animations
Yeah right? Very heartless. Wish that guy never got his game. Good on the guy making them for apparently managing to get it all together eventually.
Wait why didn't he bring up how, F13 is a dead game that cannot be updated because of a lawsuit, which cancelled a lot, A LOT, of promised content, leaving the game in a broken buggy mess.
I was actually very close to the creators of dimension drive it hurt to find it out >>"
When DJ Slopes says "So.." I can't help but crack a smile.
Thought the title was honourable for a second, heat here in Scotland must be affecting me
What's considered too hot in Scotland? Like, 25 °C?
Andrew Tennant yeah but that's too hot for me, I'm used to the cold :)
Larry yesterday was crazy hot, thought I was going to melt in Aberdeen.
Here in my city in Mexico we hit 36°C and that's not even hot lol
That submarine story was international news. I remember reading about it a while back. Unbelievable.
Xeo7 moral of the story, only buy a game with a physical copy, campaign mode, and with only multiplayer online play optional.
'I'm Adam Sessler'
It was at that point I knew I wasn't donating
Crocmaster McGeezax How come?
When did Sessler decide to go with the Mr. Clean look?
I liked him during the Extended Play days, before he became a punching bag character for "lel gamur gurl" Morgan Webb. Maybe that is why he is so beta now? He never got out of character.
"beta"
Found the frat boy!
Robin Sequira What an eloquent response.
I was afraid I found some intelligence in the comment section but alas!
Robin Sequira Nice girl name.
What else do you got for us, Mary? You got another intriguing quip there, Susan? Hey Patricia, what's new?
Dude, don't joke about pneumonia. That shit is scary. I suffered from Legionnaires a few years ago and barely survived it and was out of work for a month just from the hospital.
You slandered Mega Man by calling Mighty No. 9 by his name :( for shame.
Nah.
The submarine one hit me like a train.
Me having never heard this story before: "He invited her on the submarine.....oh this lady is getting straight up murdered, isn't she?"
What if Daniel could be Guru larry but with a different voice!
Just like how vinny and joel from vinesauce is one person!
This video was way more interesting than I expected - subscribed. I've heard of people trying desperately to hunt down a copy of Glory to Rome, but I had no idea this was the story behind that. And wow - the submarine story really threw me. It was so much worse than anything I could have imagined.
This video made me sad. =(
Regarding the sub story, I don't understand why he got charged with manslaughter instead of murder. It sounds like it was clearly premeditated and without provocation. I'm not a lawyer, but that sounds like murder to me...
Yeah, a bit dark. Didn't see this coming. eeerrrrrrrr hmmmmm.

Daniel Ibbertson b
Not gonna bring up the copyright clams by the people who made the Friday the 13th Movies on the game?
Raiden That sounds way too textbook sociopath to be anything but a troll.
Am i watching a professional knock-off of Larry Bundy JR?
On the one hand, Dimension Drive looks cool, as do the Limited Editions. On the other hand, Play-Asia deliberately pandered to and stirred up some of the most toxic elements of the community in the wake of the DoAX3 debacle, in which an official announcement that it wasn't coming to the US suddenly got people caring about a game that would have sold about 5 copies without that, but they were totally legit in stating it was concerns about feminist criticism and those evil SJWs and it wasn't at all a cynical marketing stunt that also saved them from needing any real marketing or distribution budget.
You forgot that F13th is now RIP due to lawyers.
YOU SAID MEGA MAN 9 instead of Mighty No. 9!!!
That's the joke :P
r/woosh
The submarine story is very relevant, since I heard it on the news so many times. You covered it really well here.
Woah submarine mam is awful
The biggest tragedy of the Friday the 13th game was how it got caught up in the lawsuit over who owns Jason Vorhees and so they had to stop adding new content...right when they were working on adding a Jason X skin and level to the game. It really is a fun game, better than Dead by Daylight in my opinion.
Augh.... ew! And I thought Friday the 13th was the worst thing on this list. EWWWWW
I'm an avid true crime reader/listener, but slope's game room was the LAST place I expected to hear such chilling stuff
Stop putting that 'Let me take you for a ride song' in all of your videos! REEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
You don't like to take a ride?
I love it, I was just trying to parody similar comments, I have seen on Dans videos.
I know I have been fan of your channel and from slopes and i am aware of kind of silly hate comments you guys get.
Anyway let me take you for a ride.
Parody doesn't usually include the whole 4chan 'autistic screeching' thing. Where I am from that is just called: 'being a wanker'.
Glad I saw this comment before seeing your channel. *NeverSubbed* :)
Top Hat Gaming Man NO
No joke. I’m volunteering at a retro game event in Scotland right now that has all major home consoles and arcades cabinets from the last 40 years,
I heard a song paying in the background and thought “is that Slopes games room’s theme song” when I sow it was Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 I felt really stupid.
You’re main source of info on older games and franchises because I’m only 17.
Further more to my last comment on your other video, look after yourself, as you really don't want pneumonia ;)
Very interesting video, and boy did that get dark fast! Amazing when these stories kind of reveal themselves to you, you go in expecting one thing, and it just gets worse, and worse! Wow.
I got my box of tissues as he said and to be honest that was one of the most challenging wanks i've ever had.
Nick Armitt please eat a tide pod
In response to Ed Carta, I don’t think it’s his fault. The game became successful, but then everything immediately worked against him and screwed him over.
