  • Watermelon rinds are turned into a Korean banchan specialty with the addition of gochugaru, garlic, green plum syrup, and sugar. Serve right away or let it ferment just like you would kimchi and enjoy!

    🔸 3 tsp Sea Salt
    🔸 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
    🔸 1 1/2 tbsp Gochugaru
    🔸 1 tbsp Green Plum Syrup
    🔸 1 tsp Raw Sugar
    🔸 Scallions, diced
    🔸 Sesame Oil

    I didn't know you could eat the rind! Gonna have to try this next time I get watermelon. I like trying to use everything possible.

    Love that you can consume it right away!
    I usually ferment it the traditional way, I‘ll definitely try your version and rotate it with my other watermelon rind recipes ❤

    Wonderful video I have been hooked on this for weeks! I like to use a potato peeler for the skin and then drop the large rinds into a food processor to slice them. It really speeds up the process. My favorite thing is to have this over rice with a fried egg!

    Do I need to cover the rind with a 2% brine if I want to ferment this instead of eating it right away?

    I Peel the whole watermelon with a potato peeler then cut the watermelon, makes it easier for me😊
