The spoon sweets are traditional greek dessert, and is a perserve made from almost any fruit! True their name spoon sweets are served on a spoon with a glass of water! but can be the ideal topping for greek yoghurt or icecream. Spoon sweets are very easy to make, but the procces will take a few days! This watermelon dessert is an ideal spoon sweet and very cheap too!

INGREDIENTS:
1 kg peeled watermelon rind
1 litre of water
------------------------------------
juice from 1 lemoon
500 ml of water
For the syroup
1 kg of sugar
700 ml of water
juice from 1-2 lemons
1 cinnamon stick

My grandmother always made watermelon rind pickles! It was much the same way but just used pickling spices ! It was delicious with meats and vegetables!

Just follow the video but cook it with peeled fresh ginger instead of cinnamon. I have learn to make preserves and jams from my mother. Never used a recipe.

U Srbiji se ovo zove "slatko od lubenica".
Očiste se kore na isti način. Kuvamo u 9 voda, kore, voda, provri, kuva se 30 sekundi, procedi i onda nova voda...pa tako 9 puta.
1kg šećera i 3 dl vode, vri 10 minuta, dodaju se kore i kuva dok se ne dobije gustina meda. 1 lumun se dobro opere i iseče na kolutove, doda se pred kraj kuvanja.
Onda se nakvasi pamučna krpa, pokrije se šerpa i dobro pričvrsti. Stoji do ujutru. Skine se krpa, slatko se sipa u čiste sterilizovane staklene tegle.

There's at least a lot of sugar, but actually watermelon rind and seeds are the most nutritious parts of the watermelon.
Arata demential si un desert de care te indragostesti de la prima vedere si pana la ultima picatura. Este o idee exceptional de delicioasa! Sunt sigura ca este foarte racoroasa si binevenita in zilele astea dogoritoare!
Sper sa nu te supar dar am mai multe intrebari:
1. de ce trebuie sa tot aruncam apa, este un motiv in spatele acestui fapt, dar nu il vad. Nu se poate sa il fierbem in acest sirop de la inceput si sa il tot fierbem, punem la repaus 24 ore, apoi il fierbem din nou, repaus 48 ore, si facem reductia de sirop pana la consistenta dorita.
2. ai incercat in loc de stickul de scortisoara sa pui frunze de menta? Sunt curioasa cum ar iesi...pentru cei carora nu le place scortisoara
Buna draga mea! Iti Multumesc pentru sustinere si apreciere! Ca sa raspund la intrebarile tale , aceasta este o reteta greceasca de dulceata sau mai degraba un desert cu lingura in care fructele ( coaja de pepene) trebuie sa fie perfect confiata si sa isi pastreze forma fara sa se inmoie, iar siropul sa aiba o culoare usor aurie.
1. De aceea este necesar sa fierbem cojile pana se inmoaie putin dupa care sa le lasam in apa cu lamaie (acest proces le va intari putin) dupa 2 ore fierbem in sirop si lasam 20-24 de ore sa isi traga zaharul iar apoi fierbem din nou, neaparat adaugam zeama de lamaie pentru ca ajuta la incetarea procesului de zaharisire! Si lasam 48 de ore dupa care depozitam in borcane!
2. Cu menta nu am incercat, dar cred ca s-ar potrivi foarte bine! Poti incerca de asemenea cu anason ( stelat)!
