      I’ve never completely understood why but Pawn Stars uses an extreme amount of jump cuts. Very frequently they cut down a “yeah sure why not” to a simple “yeah sure” or “yeah”. It’s present in almost every episode.

      @douglaswilliams6834 5 років тому +17

      Howard Ende Since you don't seem to understand the way things work on Pawn Stars, I'm going to help you out. The seller had almost no intention of selling this coin to Rick. He agreed to appear on the show with this coin mainly to get the exposure, and Rick agreed to have him on the show, knowing for an almost certainty that the seller would not accept his lowball offer. The seller then gets the exposure of a very popular TV show with his very valuable coin and later sells it for way over $50k. 99.9% of pawn shops would not be able to make a reasonable offer on that coin.

      @NoPain NoGain Well, typically people sell stuff at pawn shops when they just want quick cash. It is easier and they don't have to spend time looking for a specific buyer that will pay the full value, which sometimes takes a long time. That quickness and convenience of selling something at a pawn shop comes at the cost of not getting the full value for the item however.

    • @SamSung-gy3fk
      @SamSung-gy3fk 5 років тому

      @NoPain NoGain imagine going to meet someone with a 90 grand coin and they say they have 90 grand cash I mean how risky would that be? Takes all the risk away as well selling to a pawn shop.

    Sell at stacks and bower. Not a pawn shop. I agree with the seller with his assumed price. Study your coin facts and look at recent sold auctions on that coin. You will understand the market and liquidity of that coin and make a hypothesis on the value today.

      That guy's not smart. He was pretty dismissive of the coin expert. "WE have our opinion of values, and it's slightly different from yours". Well, there's a MS66 cameo specimen of this coin on eBay right now for $90K, or best offer. So it could probably be had for $80-85K. An MS66 Cameo is better than an MS66 Star. This guy will wait at least ten years if he wants to get $125K for it, and inflation will have eaten up a big chunk of those dollars anyway.

      I've noticed that sometimes the Pawn Shop has exceptional items that then go to an auction not long after airing. I believe on the video with the unopen, graded, Super Mario Bros game for NES that they had paid for the placement. There is a good chance that this is something that happens and we sometimes don't even realize.
      Definitely a good way to get your item out there. History Channel takes on the marketing.

    One of the best condition of coins there are ONE sold at 63k so they just throw this coin in with all the other coins, the condition, the rating this coin is WAY more than 70-80k

    • @chrisbuesnell3428
      @chrisbuesnell3428 5 років тому

      The current pcgs market guide is 70k. One sold a few years ago for 72k similiar. They have been trending down since. In auction he maybe clears 50k. Reason. 20 per cent buyers now. If the coin hammers at 60k the buyer has to pay 72k plus whatever state tax.
      The coin probably goes for 50 to 55 on a good day. Plus the market is soft at the moment on proofs. Even a rarity.
