A couple thoughts. 1. Based on charge start and stop levels it may not make a difference if you are at a 150 vs 350 charger. I think from your own tests a 20-80 charge takes about the same amount of time. OTOH, a 20-50 might benefit from the 350 charger. 2. Frankly, even with my Tesla, I use ABRP to plan my long trips and primarily navigate with Apple or Google maps. I run the Tesla nav in the background purely to get pre-conditioning going to a charger which isn't available with the EQ. Being a pilot I like "flight planning" and knowing my options ahead of a need to execute if needed.
it seemed like it worked well to me and honestly I dont see many people worrying about pre-planning every stop on a 500-1500 mile trip. Get to a charging stop/area that is near the end of your range and then pick the next stop. A lot can change while you are on the road so any station picked 5 hours in advance may not be the best place to stop when you get close anyway.
Whew! I recently took my Equinox EV on a road trip and use a process that my brain had an easier time with. First off, I did NOT try to navigate all the way to the end point. Instead, I navigated from station to station. I love the pre-planning process and worked off of a list I assembled before leaving home. As you suggested, the SOC at arrival was good to know and I did use the network apps to kind of look ahead to minimize surprises. I did stop to charge more often than necessary because I needed to walk the kinks out of my old bones. Besides, this was my first road trip and I do have a case of charger anxiety. I did add a video to my channel about the experience. FWIW, here is a link… ua-cam.com/video/QozVP2V4yPA/v-deo.html
Great video to show you some of the limitations of the Google Automotive OS. Is still one of the better in-car EV navigations, but it could be so much better if they gave users more options that you are highlighting. I'm a Volvo C40 owner in the DMV area by the way. Love your channel since we need more attention on the EV Equinox, which is a great car compare to other offerings.
If you have time and/info, a video on possible switch from Google account for different drivers, if I'm driving if Spotify can switch accounts or how to play others music. Etc
It would be nice if they pulled data from the plugshare app. That way they can filter out stations that have bad ratings from users or have no record of recent successful charges
Does it allow you to choose your arrival state of charge? My Blazer EV does, but your options look a little different. You’d think it was precisely the same system, but maybe not. 🤔
@@shethjones4494Yeah, you definitely can on Blazer EV, but I have not been able to choose arrival SOC at a charging station, only the final destination. Maybe it’s a software version? - but that would be odd because my software is not the most recent - last updated in March.
how about adding a stop lets say starbucks, will it give you closest or along route? waze on phone will tell you time added but the waze in car (a least with android auto) won't do the same.
I really don’t think I was that picky to be honest. I would be very annoyed if I got routed to a 50kW or 62.5kW charger when the route planner could have navigated me on a route that was faster using higher power chargers.
@@theaverageev cant you screen out slower chargers? Also you can map a route in the mychevy app and then send it to the car. I know in the mychevy app you can screen out chargers based on rating. I dont understand why you wouldnt use the same feature in the google maps plannning.

Hi. Thanks a lot for this video! Can you tell me if we can change the volume of google map (not just mute or alert only)? Thanksss

Do you know if you have to have an OnStar account to use this system or can you connect to the Internet via your phone?

Since Tesla just made SC available for GM, is there an update to the map app for Tesla SC as charging providers?

I’m pretty sure you can!!! I’m not near the car now, but I’m almost positive.
others were saying you couldnt do this on the blazer ev. I guess you figured it out. They are definitely the same system.

Hate to ask, but how do you change the map to always show the pointer heading straight up?
None of them are perfect. Being a bit nit picky I think! My first road trip is tomorrow so we shall see how the EQX does
Exactly all ccs stops should be double checked with PlugShare and the charger app to get status updates
Let me know how it goes! We are taking our first family trip in it tomorrow!
yeah I thought it did well
It just took me in circles!
The time it struggled with Denver I think you might have misspelled Denver
Could be!

You can ask Google and it will find the closest one it will tell you how much of a detour it is from your route!
What button did you press to send the map to your dash screen?
There is a button on the steering wheel. , right hand side. Looks like two squares with an arrow. That cycles through the display options!
@@theaverageev Thanks a lot!
@@theaverageev Thanks a lot!
The button is on the steering wheel. Lower right
@@DAVIDTATLITUG Thanks!
So sad Elon is such a shat show. Because if Tesla was free of him
I would dare to say… their cars are much much SIMPLER than that.
Your getting a little picky but I guess you media types hype everything😅

You haven't seen the other companies route planning.
@@gregpochet4812 I have used Hyundai, Volkswagen, Tesla, and Chevy. So I’ve used a good mix. Hyundai was so bad I didn’t even use it.
