Solar and battery backup is the way to go
solar was useless as panels were covered in snow and it was cloudy so they wouldn't produce hardly any electricity. I have some knowledge on solar and there is no way that we could have that much battery power (the costs would be impossible). I have an RV and charging batteries on board is enough just to run simple lights, etc...but nothing like a microwave, heater, or AC...it would be the same with a house. Coal/fossil fuels are better situated for times like this. I do use solar as a "supplement" to my living and plan on upgrading but it will never be enough to get through a crisis like this.

I’m having mixed feelings about this. I have compassion for individuals who are going through this hardship. So, I can see why a request for federal help seems like an option. However, I’m also have to question why the request is acceptable from a state that rails against “ liberal ideology “ like regulation and democratic socialism. It seems hypocritical to be okay with receiving federal assistance while being against others receiving federal assistance. When Texas made these decisions that led to the current results, shouldn’t they have also put funds aside to handle potential problems. This is the ultimate display of irresponsibility.
