I am a systems analyst and after watching your video I have a thought on your sauce. When you put water in you BBQ bottles take the contents of that and put it in a sauce pan with the lemon juice, vinegar, and sugar heat and stir till the sugar dissolves. let the mixture cool then add it to your large bottle of sauce. In this way you will cut out the sugar grittiness in you finished sauce and the BBQ sauce will be ready to use much sooner.
Ed Trumble Never thought of that. Thank you for that awesome insight. I will change it with the next batch. I appreciate that advice.😃
You are very welcome! Keep Cooking!!
Ed Trumble I was about to suggest the same thing lls 😂😂😂😂 that would definitely help
Ed trumble, that is 2 much extra work for the same result. Keep doing what you do the way you do it Ms. Chris.
Ed Trumble great idea, this want take from sister Chris creation.
Right sister Chris 😘.
I made this tonight and it was SO good. My husband swears by KC Masterpiece but he bought Sweet Baby Ray's and I made it just like you said and it was the BEST BBQ sauce we've had...hands down. Delicious! And so easy to make, too.
Hello Chris! Thank you for sharing your family well-kept BBQ recipe! I don't know what I loved more, the recipe, or the love and joy you had on your face, as you talked about your family, and your BBQ sauce! Thank you again! As, always, blessings to you, and stay encouraged! Always keep your hands in God's hands!
I tried it, and it really is awesome! I ended up adding just a lil bit of Louisiana Hot Sauce. Great on my chicken! Thank you Chris!
I've been trying to find a recipe for barbeque that was simple and this one is way easier than any I have found. I can't wait to try it! thank you so much.
Chris, I'm looking at your older vids and they are just amazing. Thank you for sharing your recipe for your family bbq sauce.

Chris, I just want to tell you how much I appreciate the way you post your videos. I love your honesty
You remind me so much of my mom. I was so happy to find out you are also from Chicago🤗 thank you so much
For sharing your recipes & techniques with the world. I will forever be grateful. May God bless & keep you always
Hey Chris I'm also from Chicago & this is exactly how my big sister made her sauce she would also make it spicy using red hot chili flakes & Worcestershire sauce, & brown sugar
I’ve made this barbecue sauce several times and it is beyond delicious thank you so much for sharing!
Finally made this today. My container had a very wide top, so I put in the ingredients in reverse order, stopping and mixing good before adding the ketchup and Sweet Baby Ray's. Stirred it good again, put on the top, shook it good, and put it in the fridge. Thank you!
I seriously thought about making my own sauce rather than buying from stores I'm definitely going to try your version of bbq sauce Chris.
it's amazing, my mother also loved OPEN PIT BBQ SAUCE. She used to doctor it up with same ingredients (measurements unknown, hardly measured anything). She died last year, 3 months after a stroke--3 months shy of turning 86. As a matter of fact, I'm recuperating now from a stroke I suffered 3 months ago. I too am from CHGO (now living in Atlanta past 25 YRs), and remember those lunch room butter cookies. You keep creating nostalgic moments for me. When I'm well, I'm getting back in the kitchen to cook CHGO-style.
I know you have been doing these videos for awhile. I just wanted to say at this time since I'm getting this sauce recipe that I just love watching you. You remind me so much of my mom and how she cooks with the southern charm and style. Love it!!!
Chris you are our go to Mom to learn anything to cook! Thank you for sharing your life and your talent with us. What a difference you make! Eternal Blessings to you nd your family ❤️

Hi. Just a thought. To keep the sugar from clumping , maybe stir it in a small amount of the sauce in a bowl etc before adding it to the larger container. I'm going to definitely use your recipe. Thank you for sharing
My son loves Barbecue sauce on many of his meats and sandwiches, this one sounds like a hit, will be making it ,..thanks for sharing Chris!

ChrisCook4u2 Hi, Ms Chris. I just found Open Pit BBQ Sauce online for sale. I'm ordering it because you said it was your favorite. Instead of the substitute, I'll use Open Pit. I love homemade bbq sauce and can't wait to try this. Love your recipes!

@@chriscook4u2 can you put hot sauce instead of vinger
Thank you sweet lady for your family recipe. Going to get the ingredients today!
I made a mayonnaise-sized jar of this. For there to be no spices in this bbq sauce, it is really good. TFS sweetie!!!!
I'm so glad I came across your video your an amazing cook. bless you!
Thank you for Sharing. excited to try this when I get my new grill
Hey Chris I'm from Chicago and love the open pit. There is a farm fresh in Hampton VA that sells it and Games Farmers Market on Harpersville RD in Newport News VA. I had to have it. I use Worcestershire sauce, real lemon, brown sugar, cut up onion and brown vinegar along with the open pit and simmer for about 1 hour over low heat.
Ms. Chris i have tried a lot of your recipes and they always come out very delicious and just the way you say they will. Definitely one of the best culinary mentors on UA-cam!
Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment. God Bless.

Absolutely awesome sauce. I love baby ray; with your twist. Thank you so much for sharing. 💝🙏🏾
I enjoy all of your videos! Thank you Mrs Chris!
From Chicago and raised on Open Pit. My father used it by its self or he would let that be the base and add RealLemon in the green bottle to it with brown sugar and apple cider vinegar. I definitely will try your recipe though. New follower. SUBSCRIBED!!!!!!
Your Father has great TASTE BUDS! Because this is how Chris elevates that Open Pit Bar-B-Q sauce.
When they (Chris or your Dad) finish with that "so so" sauce it TASTE way better!
Open Pit better get them on their test kitchen panel! They can make that sauce taste way better with a few extra key ingredients (ReaLlemon, Sugar & Vinegar).
InMyOpinion last month I went onto walmart website and found open pit. Since i don't live in Chicago anymore to buy it I bought 5 big bottles for $1.99 a bottle and picked it up from my nearest walmart for free.
Somebody Youusetoknow Yes I was thinking that using brown sugar would give it that special taste. Or even real sqeezed lemon juice too :-P
I made it today and it is very delicious....Thank You so Much for Sharing!

My mother did this with Open Pit. She simmered hers with sliced lemon. Im from Chicago too great video.

Thank you, I made it twice everyone loves it ❤️
I'm going to do this sauce tomorrow gir the weekend you are amazing!! Blessings
I made your sauce and added fresh peaches that I blended up and some more spices!!!! The bomb!
Look for something called Saucy Susan. Its a glaze made from peaches ,swear to G-d if you add that into your bbq sauce ,you will freak!
Chris I can’t wait to make this BBQ sauce! I LOVE YOUR RECIPES!!!
You have a beautiful soul....
love your recipe it really does taste better this way
Hello Chris, I'm also from Chicago, now I live in Michigan. I also make this same sauce. The only thing different is I use brown sugar.... I have also put my ingredients in a pot with onion, lemon and honey and let it simmer....
This BBQ sauce was so delicious I could have eaten it right out the car. I made a 1/2 size from the posted ingredients and it made more than enough for my BBQ chicken wings. There was no chicken left over and that was because of this sauce.
im gonna try this it looks good and sounds good thanks for sharing
I had no idea you were from Chicago! that's where I'm from as well! my family does their sauce with open pit too! God bless you!
Thank you so much for sharing! I love your channel.
Thank you for a family secret. I know that sauce is good. I love open pit too because I'm from MI and that's what we have. But I moved to NY and the store by me didn't carry it so I started using sweet baby Ray and I love that now.
Hello you have. a wonderful spirit and I thank you for telling people like me and others how to spice up the store brand BBQ sauce I love open pit can't wait to try your family ingredients in my next grilling thx God bless
YUM. CAN'T WAIT TO TRY IT. THANK YOU.
Hello Miss Chris, love your videos and channel. You mentioned Open Pit BBQ sauce. Isn't it a more vinegar based sauce vs the sweet baby rays?
I am going to try this ❤️thank you !
I FLIPPED over your sugar pouring technique ! Now I'll always remember you when I am trying to get a dry ingredient into a small bottle neck- A measuring cup could not have done that and I already know that the paper plate did not go to waste either- it just did double duty lol Thanks!
I don't throw away nothing. You are on point with the paper plate doing double duty, lol.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
a funnel.
Chris i took your word for it,thank you my love.
I wonder how it will taste with open pit bbq sauce
I will be trying it thank you for sharing
Wow. What a gift to us. Thank you so much, Chris and your family.
Got your msg about buying Sweet Baby Rays sauce. But it's not showing up on the feed. Send me feedback when you try it.
+chriscook4u2 Oh yes. I always rinse out the bottle/jar with a little water. Waste not, want not. Love you!
