Really good Video! I guess this might fit for people that played Holy Paladin on retail as we are used to be close to tank in all times and pump every gcd possible into melee attack spells that reduce our healing cds. I'll try your Healhance for sure!
Is there anything more to this than just being an enhance that tosses on heal gear and heals when needed ? Just seems like because of the trivial difficulty there is no need for a dedicated healer, so any class that can heal can just do support heals as needed as long as they wear spellpower gear.
Yea looks like a pretty decently geared tank that isn't taking much dmg. 900hps on that boss is kinda low, with some groups i've hit 3khps there and still almost wipped. and heroics are already pretty trivial in pre raid bis
The point is too also do alot of spell damage on top of the off heals. So not a true dps, but way more than a true healer. It’s just a fun spec (only dungeons)
This is conceptually a nice idea but it just works if your party (or at least the tank) is properly geared. People with mostly green/blue gear will get too much constant damage as well as insane bursts you cannot heal away in this build.
For dungeons, if you go defensive and spellpower gear. Could it be possible to both heal AND tank at the same time. Using maelstrm to keep yourself alive, with two earthliving or one ft.
I wouldn't say it's impossible to do some shenanigans like that, but in reality you wouldn't stand a chance at holding agro doing that. However, I'm sure you could mess around with soloing stuff playing like that
This is a nice build, defs not for beginners. Knowledge of encounters and general confidence from experience will make this build fun/viable otherwise it'd just be stressful.
It's Maelstrom Weapon Stacks. They go 1-5, but hes using a Weak Aura for it, will not look like that with normal UI. It's the talent, that at 5 stacks make your next Lightnight Bolt, Chain Lightning etc. instant cast.
Apparently you can cast lightning bolt without resetting your swing timer. But you must complete the cast in between auto attacks. I bet it would help this build a ton! Assuming healing spells work the same as lightning bolt in this manner.
i feel like this is definitely a niche build only for easy 5 mans. I think this build will struggle on anything that requires more than minimal healing throughput.
100%. Similar to a druid running full balance everything except moonkin so they can heal and use Starfall. If you got a few hots on tank and rejuv on dps almost everything will work fine.
I’ve been running this build for a while on beta and continue to stream it on a regular basis if you want to see more proof of this build handling big pulls & sketchy situations while still doing really impressive overall dmg numbers (sometimes #1)!
Brother played a heal enhancement shaman in OG WotLK. He only went to dual wield then resto the rest and raid heal and was middle to high dps while doing the same in heals. He basically quit the game when Bliz killed the build. Came back for the AOE mist weaver dpser/healer, then quit again when they killed that.
Would love for you to do a Preg pala 5man dungeon healing guide too. Mainly interested in what sort of gear would be needed for it and if it's even achievable in phase one. Great vid, much love.
Do you think this is viable for a leveling spec to do some dungeon grinding mixed in between questing? If so, what are the weapon priorities for someone never setting foot in SWP/BT? Getting SP pvp weapons ok for this in groups, then higher dps weapons for solo play?
@@Rugsz May I ask why a slow off-hand instead of a fast one? Since Maelstrom is based off weapon attacks and the builds synergy rests on stacking maelstrom for instant casts. I would think that attacking faster would amount to more instant-cast spells and better offensive and healing spell utilization. Unless i'm missing something (thus my question).
@@keldor8302 I am here to answer why slow (played for years with spellhance). Maelstrom stacks works in a strange way in which you have more % chance to get stack while you have slower weapon. Blizzard made it so people dont take 2x fast weapons and just spam lightning bolts. So basically the slower weapons you have the more chance to get stacks while casting storm strike you get. ALSO flametongue deals more dmg on slow weapon.
@@potworzgo But, would it not stand to reason to take one slow and one fast to equal out your percentage probabilities? I get that the slow weapons have a hidden increase to proc chance. That's to offset the slower swing timers. But, look at it mathmatically. Having one slower weapon to have a higher percentage but less checks against that percentage. While having one fast with lower percentage but more checks against it. Seems like the ideal way to go. Especially when you consider that flametongue acts as a spell hit in terms of the game mechanics and tracking. Right now, I can auto-attack with flametongue on both weapons with the Lightning Capacitor trinket from Kara. And flametongue crits stack a charge for the trinket. So, wouldn't flametongue damage applications also count towards Maelstrom, since it gains a charge from both melee and spell damage? In which case, you'd want faster weapons since spell damage doesn't have a hidden percentage to proc for maelstrom.
@@keldor8302 I dont really understand what does "equal your percentage propabilities means" so i will say it more clearly considering some real cases. IF you have BOTH slow weapons then using stormstrike (hits with both weapons) gives you FOR EXAMPLE 25% to give you maelstrom weapon per slow weapon. That means u can get 2 stacks or none. IF you have 1 slow 1 fast weapon the chance is still FOR EXAMPLE 25% for slow weapon to get a stack on stormstrike AND much lower chance for FAST weapon. IF you have 2x fast weapon and you use stormstrike you have LOWER chance of procing maelstrom for BOTH main hand and off hand blows. Its THAT easy. To simplify: the slower the weapons in summary that you are using, the more chance of ANY procs (wow mechanics) you have - maelstrom, shield ticks etc. AND ONTOP OF THAT flamrtongue also hits when you use storm strike so using storm strike with slower weapon also increase flametongue dmg both from swings AND stormstrike attacks

@rugs I am planning on running healhance in a 4man dungeon setting from 70 to 80. Going for 0/51/10 until one can reach imp fnova in ele tree. What is your thought of the validity of this setup? What do you think of the t5 enhance 2piece for healhance? Is it superflous? How does it interact with MW stacks?
thanks man, I've had lots of fun with this playstyle, mainly in normal dungeons so far, in heroics there have been deaths but no wipes at least. Just a question of gear though, which meant I went down to tidal force in resto tree for those emergency times. It's so fun that full resto feels quite boring in comparison!
I like it, but it's just spellhance with healing glyph right? How does this stack up for leveling with a feral tank to duo dungeons? Seems like it would work.
Did you hear on the shaman discord that you can cast lava burst while maelstrom weapon is up without resetting your swing timer or consuming stacks of mw? Could be squeezed in every now and then. Also, what do you think of the "all heal" version of this with windfury on the offhand plus lava lash to focus exclusively on healing and mw procs for content requiring more heals? It sounds like terrible dps and probably heals less overall than standard resto still but I haven't tried it out yet myself.
Yeah! I’m sure that version of this is solid and probably does a lot better healing than this build. There’s not really a wrong way of doing this ya know. As long as people have realistic expectations for when you’d actually use this build (pretty much only in a dungeon) then there’s no reason to limit yourself from experimenting and playing the class how you like it!
Hi! Thanks for going over the healhance build. Just have an unrelated question - what UI addon are you using, elvui? And is your maelstrom/mana/spell icon bar a weakaura?
This looks super fun, definitely gonna give it a try. My big question is do you think this will result in a faster dungeon run overall vs running full resto and doing 2-3 pack pulls and just dpsing when you can?
@@illiberalautist2222 If I remember enhance shaman from wotlk well enough, I think there will be few mana issues. They are pretty self sustaining when it comes to mana regen, so it might not be as bad as you think.
In order to do speed runs have to do big pulls. This build limits you too pulling 1 pack at a time. Traditional healer with a solid aoe tank and dps would go much faster
not everything is about speed dude. It's already bad enough with meta forced mindsets that will bleed over from warmane. Member this is about fun! Rugs sayd it was the most fun he had for a healing spec! thats a good thing! alot of people shelf there healers when they stop finding them fun. not everything has to be uber try-hard meta gameplay. Unless you and your guild are doing progression raids or pushing for a world 1st or any other title. A little breathing room for fun goes A LONNNNG WAY into keeping a guild or active community alive! :)
I did this in original WotLK. problem is you can really only heal when you get 5 stacks of mealstrom. yes it reduces cast time before 5 stacks, but you go oom hard, can only sham rage back mana every so often and you oom pretty hard. unless you have a overgeared group, you need to heal more than this.
Exactly. I tried it a bit and it was wonky and uncomfortable. You do a bunch of dmg with flame shock, lava bursts, chain lightning, totems, etc. as full resto while your earth shield and riptide keeps tanks up well. Granted I used double earth living and 20 points in resto in original WOTLK when I tried it.
how much you *need* just kinda depends on your group. I had 2k+ when doing this build which is well below a pre-raid bis setup. You could do this at fresh 80, but even 1 week of doing raids and you'll have more than enough gear to dump on dungeons with this build.
Similar idea to this i plan on healing as Ret/Holy build to level with my 5 man group. The build wears holy gear and relies on a fast main hand and art of war procs to spam instant flash heals. Damage in these dungeons seems low enough that i expect the healing to work out fine with a mostly sunwell geared group and allows me to bring in minor damage and more group utility with 3% damage/haste aura, replenishment to lower downtime, and 3% crit debuff. the build worked nicely in the one UK run i tested it in but it is very crit reliant so ill have a traditional holy tree as dual spec in case it falls off hard as i level and my crit rating starts to mean less.
Your group is out gearing the content, not standing in fire, and doing what they must do without any mistake in the video. Would like to see this spec perform under a bit more dire circumstances tbh.
You know what… I should do this for real next time they put Naxx out on beta. Patchwerk might be impossible, but mostly everything else sounds manageable
If you feel like it’s worth then yeah go for it! But it hits like a noodle and you have enough globals spent as is so I really didn’t feel like it was necessary for me.
This is amazing!!! I really like it and i am going to try this with my group for dungeons. I always love „melee healer“ in MMOs and this could ne very fun 😎✌️
I did this back in OG Wrath and it works very well for 5 man's. But it really struggles to keep up in raids. Mainly because it is such an odd build that it makes it hard to get a spot in 10 man's. Will for sure give it another go as it is incredibly fun.
It sort of looks like there is just so little incoming damage compared to TBC heroics that basically any class capable of healing could do this. I suspect a standard kit boomkin could do the same thing while topping the meters by rolling lifeblooms. (Albeit while staying out of moonkin form perhaps)
nah because then 5% spell crit goes bye bye, which lowers the groups dps possibly. It also lowers the boomkin's intellect and spell damage staying out of form. i think he is doing this with a geared group not fresh 80's. geared pre raid tank at least.
Can you do this same concept as a Ret Pally? Cause I would fall in love with the game that much more if so. Never mind, you mentioned this at the very very end. My bad
Go Spellhance spec like normal..... just put on more spell power. Have a SP MH, and use FT FT, it stacks. Don't use healing wave.... switch out chain lighting for Chain heal.... we've been doing this on warmane for a long time
Two questions: 1. What's the big difference between a regular enhancement spec and this? 2. What is the big win over a resto shaman pumping when there is nothing to heal?
Unironically think two regular spec enhance shamans who use their maelstrom procs for chain heal/wave and use normal rotation otherwise would be sufficient for most 5 man content. One of the most fun parts of enhance in wrath is carrying 5mans with bad healers by offhealing, super fun reactive gameplay.
Its ok if you pull 1 pack at the time, but nobody pulls 1 pack of mobs in WOTLK community, people usually pull 3-5 packs and good luck healing that in this spec
Guys why not just use both (its what i do on the beta atm) #showtooltip /cast [target=mouseover, help, exists] [target=target, help, nodead] [target=targettarget, help, nodead] [target=player] Healing Wave just have target of target unit frame close to your party frame
i tested this on beta works amazing BUT i recommend going resto subspec for the imp healing totem PLUS o sh*t macros with NS + CH and NS + Healing Wave it really saves a wipe a lot of times. some little issues: 1 one thing that is kinda annoying is placing your totems and more specificaly fire totems so you can fire nova.after the pull - before u find a spot and place them you lose couple seconds and a global in that time tank can already be 30% - thats why ns macro owns also u have to kinda run shoulder to shoulder with the tank 2 sometimes mobs in melee range will silence you or cc, while standing max range would keep the party safe :) - so its important to know when not to dps just cast Other than that its really amazing, its not that problematic or hectic like others say, because if you are fast with your rotation you just sit with 3-5 stacks of Maelstorm ready with mousover heals - which are often INSTANT or almost instant plus you have earthliving weapon ench which procs a lot. IF your are late on the pull dont panic just top the tank with lesser heal which is like priest flash heal maybe let it proc earthliving and then help dps 3 i recommend using healing stream totem not mana totem also macro shamanistic rage to your openers like trinket - your mana should be ok anyway but hugging some mana pots in case its a speedrun will help a lot. - that totem ticks for something like 250+ hp to the whole party and helps during the opener when u need to the stacks 4 sometimes group can stomp so hard you dont really need to dps - for example boomkin with some frost dk - focus purely on healing and help them survive if they get the aggro just help dps on bossess
If this build works in wotlk. The dungeons have to be a joke. As a full resto druid I have trouble keeping lesser geared palas alive in MGT HC on some of the pulls. Full hots on and they still need extra regrowth spam. Can't imagine going 4 points into resto as a shaman and expect to keep tank alive is viable at all.
Find a ret pally and blood dk tank and any other 2 dps classes and you can breeze through just about any heroic. The offhealing of an enhance and ret pally are pretty much all you need. Edit feral druid is also another option besides the ret
Okay, so I'm not gonna say this looks like a bad build. But watching the bars really showed two things. One your tank wasn't taking damage, like at all, which really leads me to believe a healer is kind of optional for most of the dungeon. How does this work with an ungeared group? Because it doesn't seem very viable if people are taking damage. 2 when your tank was taking damage, it looked pretty tight on surviving and wiping. How is going a full enhance build a healer? Like a ret pally full dps who occasionally cast holy light would be doing the same.
People please do not forget that this is a niche thing and dont expect every random healer to do dps. It's not necessary and not the way these classes or dungeons elwere designed so dont bully healers who "only" heal
@@vanidar21 sure, they can but it's really not their job in classic and all content is perfectly doable without pumper dps from healers, don't make a stressfull job worse or people will be less likely to do it and then you get dps complaining that their que won't pop

nah because then 5% spell crit goes bye bye, which lowers the groups dps possibly. It also lowers the boomkin's intellect and spell damage staying out of form. i think he is doing this with a geared group not fresh 80's. geared pre raid tank at least.
I bet this could be a lethal pick in 2v2 arenas. I'm actually rolling shaman rogue with a friend both orcs with axes 🪓
Huh. I never thought of doing it in arenas. I might have to try it out
YOU NEED LAVA LASH!!!! because when pop Sham rage. Storm strike and Lava last give you the most mana back. Test it.
Can you do this same concept as a Ret Pally? Cause I would fall in love with the game that much more if so. Never mind, you mentioned this at the very very end. My bad
Absolutely and it's a lot easier too. ua-cam.com/video/4QvyHrH4s10/v-deo.html
This is insane... I had this build in the OG WotLK haha
Also perfect group wiper when people really start taking damage.
Tried this and ret for 2 man dungeons. Ret was much better and didn’t rely on rng for maelstrom stacks
it's a spellhance build with difrent glyphs and weapon enchant.
Completely unrelated question, how good is mana regen at levels 1-12 on the beta.
Go Spellhance spec like normal..... just put on more spell power. Have a SP MH, and use FT FT, it stacks. Don't use healing wave.... switch out chain lighting for Chain heal.... we've been doing this on warmane for a long time
Dang you really wanted to press ALL the buttons lol
Two questions:
1. What's the big difference between a regular enhancement spec and this?
2. What is the big win over a resto shaman pumping when there is nothing to heal?
Seems like a bit of a hazzle to move your cursor to your raid/party frames back and forth or maybe that's just me
This build looks fucking crazy
It is dude. I just topped dungeon overall dmg in nexus and DTK with this build. It’s so fucking fun and so strong
@@Rugsz fake news this shit is cheeks
yo rugs nice build man i really enjoyed it keep it going 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
glad ur putting out the video i tryed this back in cata was fun
I ran something like this back in og wrath...it was okay but I tried it In pvp
Unironically think two regular spec enhance shamans who use their maelstrom procs for chain heal/wave and use normal rotation otherwise would be sufficient for most 5 man content.
One of the most fun parts of enhance in wrath is carrying 5mans with bad healers by offhealing, super fun reactive gameplay.
Also enhas are really good support healers in endgame icc ^^ Not spriest/retry level but really useful in some speedrunning comps
Rugs I tried to do a heroic today and the only people that would come were Healhances, look what you did man. I warned you!
I highly doubt that
it was probably me ^^
Has this been tested in heroics ?
Its ok if you pull 1 pack at the time, but nobody pulls 1 pack of mobs in WOTLK community, people usually pull 3-5 packs and good luck healing that in this spec
This looks fun. My buddies are all casters though >.
Oof yeah. Still works for a caster comp, but brings waaay more buffs to a melee group.
I would like to have your Elvui Profile, it's awesome
make a target of target macro for the heals. 90% of the heals are going on the tank so manually selecting them every single time is kinda silly
He's clearly using either a mouseover macro or addon, which is superior in every way to a tot macro.
Yeah I just use mouseover macros and play the class like a retail mw monk/holy pal
Guys why not just use both (its what i do on the beta atm)
#showtooltip
/cast [target=mouseover,help,exists] [target=target,help,nodead] [target=targettarget,help,nodead] [target=player] Healing Wave
just have target of target unit frame close to your party frame
Cool that was fun . disc shadow without shadow form maybe hmmmm
i tested this on beta works amazing BUT i recommend going resto subspec for the imp healing totem PLUS o sh*t macros with NS + CH and NS + Healing Wave it really saves a wipe a lot of times. some little issues:
1 one thing that is kinda annoying is placing your totems and more specificaly fire totems so you can fire nova.after the pull - before u find a spot and place them you lose couple seconds and a global in that time tank can already be 30% - thats why ns macro owns also u have to kinda run shoulder to shoulder with the tank
2 sometimes mobs in melee range will silence you or cc, while standing max range would keep the party safe :) - so its important to know when not to dps just cast
Other than that its really amazing, its not that problematic or hectic like others say, because if you are fast with your rotation you just sit with 3-5 stacks of Maelstorm ready with mousover heals - which are often INSTANT or almost instant plus you have earthliving weapon ench which procs a lot.
IF your are late on the pull dont panic just top the tank with lesser heal which is like priest flash heal maybe let it proc earthliving and then help dps
3 i recommend using healing stream totem not mana totem also macro shamanistic rage to your openers like trinket - your mana should be ok anyway but hugging some mana pots in case its a speedrun will help a lot. - that totem ticks for something like 250+ hp to the whole party and helps during the opener when u need to the stacks
4 sometimes group can stomp so hard you dont really need to dps - for example boomkin with some frost dk - focus purely on healing and help them survive if they get the aggro just help dps on bossess
If this build works in wotlk. The dungeons have to be a joke. As a full resto druid I have trouble keeping lesser geared palas alive in MGT HC on some of the pulls. Full hots on and they still need extra regrowth spam. Can't imagine going 4 points into resto as a shaman and expect to keep tank alive is viable at all.
well that's just it--the dungeons are a joke haha
isnt this just a regular enhance that offheals when required....
(when your tank isnt being crit)
Can not wait for the Spaniards to try this in raids thanks for the video....
Have fun!
TLDR: Play normal Enhance spec except spend Maelstrom stacks on Healing Wave
Very cool video
This is what happens when you get to boring from Naxxramas
Find a ret pally and blood dk tank and any other 2 dps classes and you can breeze through just about any heroic. The offhealing of an enhance and ret pally are pretty much all you need. Edit feral druid is also another option besides the ret
welp, i know what im boosting now
nice, ty
Very nice
its not the best healer. its the best healer to make a video on for content
I WAS THERE
Okay, so I'm not gonna say this looks like a bad build.
I don't expect heroics to remain this easy on release. The health pools of bosses feel small given how quick the fights are.
People please do not forget that this is a niche thing and dont expect every random healer to do dps. It's not necessary and not the way these classes or dungeons elwere designed so dont bully healers who "only" heal
nah, healers should ALWAYS dps when they have nothing else to do. Stop being lazy healers!
@@vanidar21 sure, they can but it's really not their job in classic and all content is perfectly doable without pumper dps from healers, don't make a stressfull job worse or people will be less likely to do it and then you get dps complaining that their que won't pop
