Angel's grieving really hard in this episode. I think his friendship with Doyle was one of equals and peers. Both can understand being both demon and man. He has no other like it in the Buffyverse. :(
Yeah, I think Angel found a level of companionship in Doyle that he'd never had before, and one I don't think he finds again even later on :'( David and Glenn also apparently got to be pretty close during filming, so I wonder how much of that bond translated to the on screen relationship with Angel and Doyle.

So glad you've got to this episode! Giving Cordelia the visions was an absolutely brilliant decision. Angel the show couldn't have been so good without her continuous growth as a character. Who could have guessed from Buffy episode one that Cordelia would become such an important part of the fight against evil?
I think the Oracles was a great way to maybe get out of the Supernatural “They died? Oh, wait five seconds” mindset. This episode certainly gives you the impression that death in Buffy’s universe is permanent.
I would say it differently. With Glenn Quinn and the character of Doyle the show had a certain tenor and tone which was excellent. Have the actor not had substance abuse issues I think that character would have endured for the whole time on Angel. There's a certain Buffyverse watch list that a lot of reactors use. Instead of simply watching it based on how they aired, it's done the help the storylines of the respective shows flow better. So sometimes, you'll have a back and forth, or you'll have 2-3 episodes back to back of each show. Like she just uploaded the full reaction to This Year's Girl, so her next two will be the following 2 episodes of Buffy then go back and do the following 3 episodes of Angel. Or like the last 3 episodes of season 4 of Buffy will most likely be done back to back, then it'll direct her to finish out the Angel season because it flows better. After doing the "Hero" episode, it makes sense to do the "Parting Gifts" after instead "Hush" because of the story flow...

His boarding school and Watcher training didn't prepare him properly for real life, but now he has a family of normal people to humanise him. Normal apart from one of them being a vampire, but you know what I mean.
Yeah, I agree that it was smart to make clear that the Oracles weren't an auto-fix right away. And, looking back, it kinda makes sense--in the other situation, they were asked to reverse to time to achieve something that is clearly IN THEIR OWN INTEREST: getting Angel back as a Champion, which is kind of a big deal since a "vampire with a soul" is a pretty unique thing in this universe. And even then, he had to do quite a bit of begging. But here, we see quite starkly, that with the vision power passed on, they really don't value any single life in and of itself--Doyle's function is easily replaced by someone else, and therefor they don't really care. So they're only going to be useful to our characters if they decide those characters are useful to them, which since they're apparently such powerful and unknowable creatures, it's hard to say what, when, and how they will deem that to be. They're a deux ex, but they're clearly not one our characters can reliably call upon or that we can predict or understand, and so aren't totally show-breaking in their power over the plot.
Can I say that I love the idea of someone like Cordelia, who was kinda the Regina George of her school, getting visions of impending disaster. "GRASS STAINS!" Also, Wesley is adorable and I love him.
Doyle's character is such a sad story. First they cast a very weird proto doyle in buffy, then get the character right in angel, and then we lose both the charavter and the actor so soon :/

"Sense & Sensitivity" - Attorney Lee Mercer hires the shaman Lloyd who uses the talking stick to cast the sensitivity spell on the police in order to spring "Little" Tony Papazian from jail.
.
This is when the show gets good
Think the show's growing on you, Alley 😍😍 Totally here for it
I really liked how you worded it as "a villain with many faces" that just sounds so cool :) Also this show is hilarious sometimes i love it
That big smile on your face when the episode ended was totally me when I first saw this episode.
Wesley showing up was such a super-pleasant surprise - it's one of those moments that really sticks out in my memory when thinking about this show.
And then when the episode ended with the three of them getting ready for a post-kick-arse breakfast left me thinking that this show was gonna be awesome. They'd found their stride.
Adding to the overall excellence of this episode is the ramping-up of world building.
Thank you for the great reaction!
Oh Wes, I miss you. Best. Arc. Ever. Period.
WxL 🥺🥺 You hate it but you love it. Tried to make it as unspoilery as possible. 💀
Oh look. A rogue demon hunter! Just what the party needed.
I think this is where the show started to find it's legs
Wesley's character arc is arguably the best in the entire Buffyverse. Probably up there with Willow (his wife in real life!).
"I'm gong to thrash you within an inch of your life. And them I'm going to take that inch!"
That's such an awesome line. Pity Westly didn't quite live up to it. ;)
Your reaction to Wes’s reveal was perfect.
Angel is why Wesley is one my favorite butfyverse character.
I understand this, but only because I have seen the show. With a show like this he could be gone in the blink of an eye. I get how it doesnt feel like a spoiler, but it really conveys a lot of information.
SPOILERS
@@Jadak1Kadaj Dont get me started on Fred ^^... Acually seriously dont get me started, since this is a pretty obvious spoiler. Saying that its your favorite character before its even introduced.
@@erikohman2294 normally I would be with you but I think an ambiguous name is hardly a spoiler. If anything you pointing me out is an even bigger spoiler ;D
More SPOILERS coming
@@Jadak1Kadaj It is hard to talk about spoilers. Me calling yours a spoiler does kinda put a highlight on it. I'll just edit in a spoiler warning to fix it.
Plenty of people are gonna say things that add up. Faiths name is often mentioned plenty before she comes along in Buffy. It has made some reactors know that she is a mainstay once they even hear the episode name "Faith hope and Trick. Makes for a spoiled reaction to her reveal. Insult to injury, you didnt just say a name. You said "Fred for life". That says something about a character. Think about Mss Post or Jessie in Buffy. They look like mainstays and then they are gone in a blink. People can come and go in these shows, but no one ever starts going about their progression or whatnot. When people get excited about a character before they are even on the show, its clear that they have some level of importance. Reactors are smart, and they have alot of people commenting.
@@erikohman2294 I see what you're saying but I fail to agree that me simply saying that person's name in a space with zero context is a spoiler. I said nothing to give anything away other than an ambiguous name with zero context. Some one off unimportant characters are fan favourites too. All you're doing is make what I said seem a lot worse than it is
And then I'm going to take that inch!!!
"... they are trying to bing him back... but at this show this isnt realy a thing..."
Welllllll....
This episode also has another reference to the corporation-from-Hell Wolfram & Hart, a soulless businesswoman named Mac (at 11:48) who tries to purchase Cordelia's eyes for the corporation... and whom is never seen again in the series.
Your quote of the day makes me wanna cry... But it was the perfect choice from the last episode
I love the phrase 'the Sparkly People'; always wondered if the change in outfits was an indicator as to the chances of success for a supplicant. kerk
Liking your videos,,
At 7,50, when angel knocks the crossbow out off Wesleys hand, noticed David/angel laughing, always like seeing that eventhough it braking character..
I really miss Doyle, but I love Wesley so fucking much.
There are so many characters on Supernatural that died who I wish they had managed to bring back somehow. I never would have believed that I would come to enjoy Wesley as much as I did in this episode. The same goes for Cordelia because I used to absolutely hate her.
David which can't do without laughing at 7:53 is the gem in this ep
Yeahhhh ! Wesley the rogue demon hunter. I love this title :)
@AlleyBox Think back to Season 1 of Buffy and compare what you think of Cordelia then vs now. She has the best character arc IMO.
Doyle was supposed to be a bigger part of the show but unfortunately Glenn Quinn was written out due to a drug addiction, Whedon had expressed a desire to bring him back but he passed away prior to that happening.
To be fair, if the Oracles were willing to fold time whenever he asked, Angel would constantly be going to see them... "Hey guys, I forgot to record Days of our Lives last week. Could you rewind time again so I can set the VCR properly?"
AAAAA WESLEY EP YAY
What's a rogue demon?
11.25 Alley is basically 😍😍😍 You so have a crush on vamped Angel!
I've been waiting for your reaction to this reveal since you announced you where going to do Angel.
Wesley, you awkward bugger, finally, you are here!
Went total fan girl with 100 episodes to go. Buckle up!
