Rick is one of the greatest unsung guitarists of our time. A big inspiration for me. I'm currently trying to learn his solo from Daddy was a preacher...sheer poetry.
This band could go toe to toe with any group. I mean really, how many people do you hear leaving a Southern Culture on the Skids show saying it sucked?NoT
My older brother and I used to blast "Camel Walk" on his car radio whenever he drove us between our parents' houses. A couple years later (late 90s/early 00s) when I started playing guitar, I saw a photo of Rick Miller holding his Dano, and I've wanted one ever since. Just such an undeniably cool sound and look.
I love the whole vibe of your show. The Dano is part of it but that p90 just sings. Love the attitude, love the dog. I suggest the band interview each other next road gig!
Rick saw you guys several times in Memphis. Dan a friend and I used to see ya'll at the Hi-Tone. Dan passed away several years back. Come back to Memphis sometime
I got to hear this axe in action again last night! Love the story's looking forward to some new ones! A while back I remember Rick telling the story about leaving this guitar behind, realizing what he had done he went back to the club and found they had thrown it away! He did a Dumpster dive and retrieved, it and all is well! I wish I could find that story again!
HEY RICK, I REMEMBER THAT DANO! DUCT TAPE AND ALL. JUST WATCHED SOME OLD SHOW'S FROM TYA IN HICKORY. GOOD TIMES! I LISTEN TO DIRT TRACK DATE EVERY TIME I GO WATCH A SHORT TRACK SAT NITE RACE.....GOOD TO SEE YOU! 30 YEAR'S IS A LONG TIME AGO.
Heard that kickin' version of Skullbucket at Paste Studio's, recently, and you're all I've been listening to in the car. I'm hooked. Would love to see you in So Cal one of these day's post plague.
I used to live in Wilmington NC saw you guys one night, fantastic! Had a chat with you afterwards. I love your guitar style, very unique. Back home now in London, England missing those corn dogs and beach butts :)
Your love for that Dano is like my love for my Squier Tele. Yeah, it's cheap, but I love the way it feels, and the way it plays is like butter. I also love its sound, which is why I use it over any other guitars I have. Keep rockin' what you love, Rick! :)
Rick it was a pleasure meeting and getting my picture with you in Cambridge, MA in 2016. Your passion rocks true. I always sing "Banana Puddin'" when I have that for dessert. Give Mary and Dave my bes
Cool. One of the interesting things about dual pickup Dano's is that most of them are wired in series when in the middle position. That gives quite a bit more output.
I’m a fan from the mid-80’s Richmond, VA and carried my love right on down with me to Atlanta. Even survived an Urban Cowboy afterparty, lol. Glad to see y’all are doing well. I get a LOT of inquiries about SCOTS when I play you where I live in SoCal desert. Untapped market. Cheers, y’all!
I met you a long time ago and had asked about your sound and you had just told me it was your Danelectro guitar and VOX amp. I went out and found a cheap Danelectro guitar and eventually a bass and I agree, there is something about them. I currently play the Danelectro Mosrite copy reissue and it's one of my go to basses. They play so well and sound great. Thank you Rick for turning me onto them. Hopefully will get to see you all in KC if they don't delay the show again!
Super cool guitars, and just easy to get a killer sound out of. Learned to play on my grandad's early 50s U-1 and then bought one of the repros. Definitely a favorite of mine.
I love Danelectros, they're so light. I've owned 3 of them now at various times over the last 35 years, an original amp-in-case model (without the case, 2 pickup, Silvertone), an early reissue U2 and a 59 reissue. I paid $100, $90, and $150 for them respectively, and I loved them all.
Thanks for the Lindy Fralin P90 info, Mr. Rick Miller! Also, it’s great to know one can get such great tone out of a coating of “Day-Old and Bold” Banana Puddin’!
I'm super interested in the flying V from the Camel walk video, the one with the very oddly placed Bigsby. it just looks like it's got a story behind it.
Three of my dogs favorite things - banana pudding, chicken grease and me - ha! Thanks for the music Rick, cannot wait to see you and SCOTS again in 2021!
Hey, Rick...! Loved the vid on yer beat up Danelectro...! Gotta tell ya, man - y'all are incredible, but did you know that your albums are maybe the most ripped off albums EVER?? It's true! A friend introduced me to "Dirt Track Date" and let me 'borrow' the CD - he never got it back. I lent it to a girlfriend, and I never got it back. I don't know how many copies of that album I've owned, but I've learned to keep TWO. Same goes for "Plastic Seat Sweat". People come over, I play SCOTS for them, and I always get, "Can I borrow that? That's so KICK-ASS"! And then I buy yet another copy. I don't know if you're rich by now, but if you ARE, you're welcome! Ah, well... Houston on the skids! Take care, Rick! Thanks for all the great tunes, and give my love to Mary and Dave! Rock the F__K ON!!
The first time I saw you was at the Star Bar in Atlanta. I’m pretty sure it was a going out party for an AIDS patient. The Drovers Old Time Medicine Show opened the show. Seems like it was the coldest night ever in Atlanta. Walked out of the show and ice was in the air. Of course I was pouring sweat. I rode home on the Drovers Van that had more holes in the body than a working van should. I can’t imagine that I didn’t get sick. It was a fun rough great hillbilly funk night. Not many have been that memorable. Before the show I was so high that I went into the Elvis Shrine. I think I talked to Elvis. 1996 I think.
Looooove to watch and listen to a tour through your preferred and most used amps, pedals etc... Big fan on an island here and I figure your band and music is just about the coolest recording today. Looking forward to your next work - I've never been disappointed, never.
I have always wanted to know the mysterious genesis of this tonal monster. Particularly dug learning that that amazing bridge pickup was the work of Lindy Fralin. Thanks for sharing this fascinating video with us
Thank you for the complete and thorough rundown, Rick. I'm afraid, as a terminal gadfly on this sort of information, that I've made rather a pest of myself - particularly at the end of a show - so much so that you probably got tired of seeing my face. I don't even like my face. But sincere thanks.
Now that you say out of phase, think I can hear that on some songs. Got to be the only guitar with these specs. Now come to Philadelphia so I can hear it live
Awesome Rick! I know I've asked you about your Dana and P90 - thanks for the great tour of it! Hope to see you at WCL in the Fall! Maybe you can get Mary and Dave to give a tour of their rigs too.
We had a pet rat named Ratfink. Now, don't go all Yuch on me. He would was exceptionally clean and used to come out of his large cage and watch TV with us while ignoring commercials. (Rick's Ratfink sticker is a Big Daddy Roth era piece for those who couldn't know it.) These guys are such an incredible powerhouse of good natured fun, they tickle my senses again & again.
If I'm not mistaken, Jimmy Page used a Danelectro on stage when he played White Summer/Black Mountainside. I almost bought one myself but I passed on it. Too cheap? Lol
I am a SCOTS newbie, at 70 years old, and I am so impressed with the sound. I play rockabilly on a big arch top, but the Danelectro is fascinating me. Apart from the guitar tone, what are you using to get that deep tremolo? I live in England, and am looking around to see who else has discovered your crazy music.....
Rick is one of the greatest unsung guitarists of our time. A big inspiration for me. I'm currently trying to learn his solo from Daddy was a preacher...sheer poetry.
"You can't imitate cheap." I love it!
I will respectfully borrow the saying from Rick.
Just got back from the future. Saw this Guitar in The Smithsonian. Thanks Again for saving The World!
This band could go toe to toe with any group. I mean really, how many people do you hear leaving a Southern Culture on the Skids show saying it sucked?NoT
I've seen them at least a hundred times since the 1980s and loved every show.
I have that 1995 CD, Dirt Track Date. It just doesn't get old!
When does Danelectro come out with a Rick Miller signature model?
It's him or Link Ray... I'm I right!
Right on!
Hell yeah
I'm tired of waiting, and building my own :) I wish I knew the windings on the P90, but I'll go for the stock.
Rick, you are an American treasure and unsung hero.
Two classics. Rick and his Danelectro 59. Need to get me one of those.... The 59 not Rick LOL.
I've loved this band since the mid 90's.
the Rick Miller signature sound...a hot P90 in the bridge (set pretty clean) and a Fender reverb tank cranked....that's dwell!
You think its a hot P90 huh? I reached out to Fralin, but they said they could not tell me.
Rick live is an amazing experience. He can bend and bang. . I love hearing what other people do to their guitars. Cool video. Thanks Rick
The Dean of the Danelectro
Love seeing the Get Lost sticker on the back!
And would enjoy seeing SCOTS come to Montana for a show even more!
My favorite band ever and possibly my favorite guitarist.... this is gravy on gravy. Love yall Rick!
I love the whole vibe of your show. The Dano is part of it but that p90 just sings. Love the attitude, love the dog. I suggest the band interview each other next road gig!
Love That Old Dano,It Bleeds Character!!
The spoogie adds character! Love SCOTS! Miss you guys! Can wait until life gets back to normal!
Good to see you Rick. I hope you and the band are all doing well. More of this stuff please!
Rick, thank you so much for this video!!!
Such a cool guitar with amazing history and mojo! Love you guys! Thanks for the Camel Walk and all the shenanigans!
LMAO. Rick is the best, a national treasure.
When you coming back to south east Michigan...me and Jim sure miss you guys!!!
Jim Jarmusch would love your collection.
He was playing that Danelectro last night in Buffalo at the Rec Room. Rick, Mary & Dave killed it! Great Show!
Rick Miller, Poison Ivy Rorschach, and Pops Staples are my household gods.
Excellent taste. I can only add Curtis Mayfield and Steve Cropper to that fine list. 😃
@frankmartin182 We need to form a band!
@@bobblehead67 Have bass(es), will travel!😃
Rockabilly guitar players ... just the coolest riffs and high energy drive
Loved the story behind this legendary guitar 🎸🖒
Sounds lovely
Now, that's what I call a well used Guitar. Even the Dogs Like it.😄🎸🐶
Love you guys man! Keep up the great work!
Rick saw you guys several times in Memphis. Dan a friend and I used to see ya'll at the Hi-Tone.
Dan passed away several years back. Come back to Memphis sometime

Hey Rick - brass screws/hardware should fix your rust problem right up.
Been a fan since '94 when you guy's opened for Rev Horton Heat - what a show!
I used to live in Wilmington NC saw you guys one night, fantastic! Had a chat with you afterwards. I love your guitar style, very unique. Back home now in London, England missing those corn dogs and beach butts :)
Definitely a special sound coming out of it, don't know what it is about it or how to describe it, but I love it!
I loved seeing you guys in Asheville, NC in the early 2000"s... Y'all are always so great to see live... Love your country/blues/punk...
Listening to your music I just knew Link Wray was a influence. I think you solidify it here. Keep doing what you are doing it is appreciated.
You couldn't make a more perfect guitar for SCOTS music on purpose. Thank you so much for all of it.
Your love for that Dano is like my love for my Squier Tele. Yeah, it's cheap, but I love the way it feels, and the way it plays is like butter. I also love its sound, which is why I use it over any other guitars I have. Keep rockin' what you love, Rick! :)

LOVE the Nye's Polonaise Room matchbook! Much love to y'all from up here in Minneapolis!
My favorite guitarist learned to play on that exact guitar -- bought at Sears.
Cool. One of the interesting things about dual pickup Dano's is that most of them are wired in series when in the middle position. That gives quite a bit more output.
A lot of history in that guitar, love the sound. can't wait to get to see you guys again. Come on out to So Cal and say Howdy.
When the world opens up again, please do a tour of Australia. Came across you guys a couple of weeks ago on UA-cam and you are now my favourite band.
I saw them 20 years ago in Sydney Aust and they were amazing. I've been waiting for another visit that long..... hope they return!
Rick!
Can't wait until you get back to Pittsburgh, thanks for the up-close look at your machine!
Love beat up guitars, I bought a Danelectro at a swap meet for $75, plays great, love the band and your music, keep rockin

It sounded pretty dang good at the Harvester last Friday. You guys put on the best shows.
well the way you nailed that Traffic song tonight in Long Beach? Keep it UP!
Thanks for making this video. I've been curious about that Dano for years.
Outstanding ‼️😎

The pickup patina is glorious

I see you use D'Addario 10's!! I know those colors very well! Great axe! Great-sounding pickups!
Love that hat, Rick!
This was a really great video. Love the history (and enthusiasm!). 🙂
Hey, Rick...! Loved the vid on yer beat up Danelectro...!

Sweet guitar.....lov Danos!
I played that Dano in Atlanta! Put that thing through a Tone King Meteor amp to get the “Sound of the Truth!” -Johnny Reid
this is awesome.
Rick you're old as hell and your guitar is from walmarks lol.
And you put on the best shows I've ever seen. An old life-long fan, subscribing
I have always wanted to know the mysterious genesis of this tonal monster. Particularly dug learning that that amazing bridge pickup was the work of Lindy Fralin. Thanks for sharing this fascinating video with us
I always forget you're a Dano guy. The first time I saw you guys was on Conan on a NYE show with Rich Hall, so I always think of you as a Strat-cat.
I normally don’t comment on tone. But I must say Holy biscuit fried chicken nanner pudding dayum!
Love you bro, live music rules!!!
Thank you for the complete and thorough rundown, Rick. I'm afraid, as a terminal gadfly on this sort of information, that I've made rather a pest of myself - particularly at the end of a show - so much so that you probably got tired of seeing my face. I don't even like my face. But sincere thanks.

Awesome. Saw you in June of 1999 in Baton Rouge. Still have my Hillbilly Racing Tee from that show.
Make more videos, make more music! LOVE SCOTS!
So cool!!!
Saw SCOTS last night & can confirm, Rick's beat-up looking Dano still rocks. Think he had some new duct tape on it too!
They just Knock it Out . Thank You!
That P90 is magic!
Cool video Rick, I hope you guys can make it back down to orange county California soon
i love it awesome !
Awesome Rick! I know I've asked you about your Dana and P90 - thanks for the great tour of it!

I see “The Book of Tiki” by Sven Kirsten on that shelf in the background 👍🏄🏻♂️
That is a handsome dog.
"all this spoogie stuff holds it all together" Who knew?!
Love & Miss you guys. Stay Safe, Party Later!
If I'm not mistaken, Jimmy Page used a Danelectro on stage when he played White Summer/Black Mountainside. I almost bought one myself but I passed on it. Too cheap? Lol

now that is a relic-ed guitar
so cool...
Rick Ever play a tele? I got some fralin picups in mine and WOW!
It's funny how the most beat-up stuff sounds the best! Play that thing until it falls apart, Rick!
Thanx man!
Righteously presented…thanks for sharing your insight! I have enjoyed your music 🎶 for years but have never seen you live!? Interrobang ⁉️.
Love you all
