In Australia We use 80 Channel UHF Citizen Band Radio and Channel 40 is designated as the Road Safety Channel for Truck Drivers. On parts of the East Coast of Australia they use Channel 29. Truck Drivers and Other Road Users (4 Wheel Drives and Caravaners & RV's) are particularly active on CB's in Australia. I have a CB Radio in My Car.
Great vid Ned..on vid 7 (in one session) and now up to 5th beer..doh.. but CB reminded me, few years back, took a 'coastal' job an' wuz somewhere off West Ireland (think comin' outa Foynes), had a 5-metre whip aerial on the bridge wing..got a contact down Southampton way and made his day..you bringin' back good memories...
Ned, great vid and thanks. Two minor points, the big amplifier on the back of the Jackson CB is actually a massive heat shield. Also as you bend the antenna you are changing its frequency, this is done sometimes to de-tune the radio to accept only strong local signals, which is what you want anyway. Stay dirty :)

As a X driver I enjoy watching your videos but I've a question! Somebody told me the other week that if your taking a 24 hr away from base you need to take it away from the lorry, basically you now need to find a hotel room....is this true as it does look like another EU ruling from what I can see.
Got a question for you, how come a lot of the trucks in the EU have only 1 rear drive axle? Here in North America almost all have 2 and some have 3. I drive a Freightliner Cabover which has 2 steering axles and 3 drive axles. Also you have a very small bunk.The truck i have has a 102 inch bunk area. Just curious why everything is so cramped. great job on all your videos though.
+Douglas McCarty cheers douglas, yes our trucks are very cramped and most only gross 44tonnes so no need for double rear axel, although more and more are buying double drives now.Happy new year to you ali
Ned Kelly Ireland Actually trucks in US only allow max gross of 80000 pounds/36tonnes. The reason for using tandem axle tractor and a tandem axle trailer is because there is a specific rule(an exception) in the law that would allow a standard 40-foot trailer to carry up to the max 80000 pounds under 5 axle configuration.
