This project is smokin'! Nice work, Steve!
Thank you very much and thanks for sponsoring the video! It was a lot of fun figuring out how to make this and paint it.
It’s hard to watch your videos and not smile. You have a lot of fun and it is very fun to watch!
That's good to hear! I do have fun making this stuff and shooting the videos. I like to help people forget about stuff and smile for a few minutes of their day.
I am always way happier after watching a Steve Carmichael video and this is no exception. Great CNC build. Very creative build process. I'm thinking about using this technique in the future.
That is Awesome! Thanks Matt! Can't wait to see whatever you do cause it will be awesome!
Steve, I am a firefighter in Ohio. I am a big fan of your channel. Your projects are fun to watch and very creative. This fire truck is awesome! I don’t have a CNC, but I think I will try and recreate this on my scroll saw. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! Thanks for doing what you do to help people. Also thanks for watching my videos. It can be done on a scroll saw. There is a link in the video description to open my Easel project, or let me know if you want a PDF of my visio drawings to use for templates.
That was great. I don’t know which is more amazing - your navigation of that software or the painting…so much painting.
Thanks man! I've come a long way with the software. I get by with the painting. I'm ready to just spray lacquer on the next project like I usually do.
The painting would be the funniest part. I bet the design was a mind binder.
Hey Mike! Yeah trying to figure out how to cut the outlines of the middle sections was weird. It was hard to picture in my head how they would line up. The extra time to paint really paid off. I almost copped out and just sprayed it with lacquer, but just went for it. The first coats looked bad, but I kept adding more coats and lucked out.
Looks sharp!
Love the black over red!
Excellent job Steve!
Beautiful build. What a fantastic ideas to layer this toy vehicle. Great layout and a very inspiring “outside of the box” design. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much Richard! It's a lot like a bandsaw box, but the steps are backwards. lol
Once again a fantastic project.
Super cool. You have a very creative mind and a craftsman's hands. Well done
Atomic Fireballs. Perfect candy. Nice looking truck.
Thanks Thomas!
That looks great!
Turned out really nice should look really nice on her deck. Keep up the great videos
Thanks Kenny! She likes it! Yeah!
Great job, Steve
Sa-weeet project!!! Thanks
Great job Steve,Looks awesome!!
Great Job Looks Great
Absolutely fantastic steve loves it
That looks great.
Great work!!
Your wife's desk is going to be a popular spot! Nice job Steve!
It will be interesting to find out what her coworkers think about it. I copied the shape and paint scheme from our local fire trucks. Our pump trucks don't have ladders on the sides, but I couldn't make a fire engine with no ladders. lol
Nice job Steve.
Very nicely done !!
As usual, nice job Steve.
I would definitely make this IF I had a CNC machine. Great job!
You can probably just cut it on a scroll saw. I'm working on making templates.
I"m impressed. As always a great job.
awesome project! Thanks for sharing!
This was a great project steve! I gotta make one for the kids now!
That’s AWESOME!! Definitely want a X-Carve now
Thanks Alex! I enjoy using it a lot, especially coming up with projects that don't look like they are made with a CNC.
Very nice design and work
You did a wonderful job on that fire engine! I have several family members that are firemen.
Thanks Sid! I'm looking forward to finding out what the firemen think of it at my wife's work. The shape, features, and colors are based on our local fire engines.
Looks great
Thanks!
Steve that is wonderful
Thanks Brian! I need a banana now. lol
Wow! It looks Awesome well done Steve 👍
This is a great project. Thanks for sharing the files. I think this would be the perfect Christmas present for my grandson.
Very cool Steve!!!
Thanks for sharing this project, Steve. It really put a smile on my face!
Thanks Dwight! Glad to hear that!
Great video Steve.
Here's a tip to help keep everything aligned during assembly. Add two dowel holes, one on each end of all the sections in the same location. Glue everything up with two dowels and clamp together. After glue has dried, cut off the extra dowel ans sand smooth.
Take care.
Willy
Thanks Bill! I thought about doing that early on in the design, but forgot to do it until it came time to glue the pieces together. lol I should have put the axle holes all the way through.
Neat project, it looks great!
Once again Steve, you amazed me with your woodworking abilities. This is a nice project for what your intentions are for it. Thanks for sharing this video.
Very cool. That X-Carve looks like a fantastic tool.
Most unique use of Visio ever! Fun project.
Yes! I have always like Visio because it is like drawing on graph paper like I used to do for designing stuff.
Nice job
Absolutely love this project Steve!!! The detail painting looks amazing!! Thanks for sharing!!! 👍❤️❤️
Hi Nicholas! Thank you sir! Good to hear from you. Hope you are staying warm up there!
That is awesome...!!
Cheers...
Another awesome project from Steve!
Hey Paul! Thanks! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
This project was fun to watch. Great job Steve!
Thanks Richard! It was fun to make. The painting was kind of hard, but worth it.
Awesome
You nailed it!
And then clamped it. 😎
Great project Steve! Its projects like this that really make me lean towards getting myself an X Carve.
Thanks! I've had fun with it and also use it to sell things on Etsy.
I had no idea your wife worked for the GCFD. Learned something new. That fire truck turned out great, I’ll bet you’ll get requests for more.
Sweet paint job!
Thanks Justin! That sure took a lot of patience, and my +1.5 reading glasses. lol
Great build Steve
Thank you!
It’s very nice! And brilliant
Thank you!
Looks fantastic my friend! That would easily sell at a premium in any toy store.
Looks Awesom.............
Thanks Ronnie!
Great job!
Thank you !
Fantastic design and attention to detail! 👊🏻
Thank you Jon!
Super cool!!!
Thank you Samuel.
I have the x carve 1000x1000 it’s great and the support is beyond expert
You're on fire with this project
Ha, good one!
Awesome job...
Thanks!
Great job Steve. Looks great
Thanks Mr. Harneal!
Great project Steve! Thank you for sharing the lovely video with us.👍😎JP
Amazing design!
Thanks Mark! It was a fun challenge to figure out what shapes to put on the ends of each slice that become the front and back of the truck.
@@SteveCarmichael truly makes me want to design one like our ladder truck.
I like that it looks great
Thanks Henry! It was fun figuring out which elements should be on which slice of the truck, so it looks right when glued together. A fun challenge!
Nice work my friend!
very cool Steve outstanding work my friend
Looks awesome Steve, nicely done
Hi Sterling, thanks! Hope all is well! Tell Sandra hello!
Hey steve, I just got my x-carve.im enjoying building it.lots of fun.
Hi Shaun! That's awesome! I found building it was a lot of fun and it's so cool when it works for the first time. Congrats!
Super nice work!
Thanks!
That turned out great! I want to build one of these for my little nephew now 🚒
Thanks Darian! If you do, I'd love to see it.
Very cool Steve. Came out awesome. Take Care
Thanks Thom!
Wow Steve that looks fantastic!!! That paint job is on point. I have had my x carve less than a year and it blows my mind what people can come up with using it.
I have tons of ideas, but no cnc machine. Our local (national) makerspace shut down in the middle of the night, and we don't have many places close by that would even think to "rent time" on their units.
If I ever won the lottery, I want to open a place for anyone to get what exists only in their mind, & make it a real physical product. But, I hear that in order to win the lottery, you have to play the lottery. Dreams at least are free.
I sometimes win a couple dollars on the lottery, after I spend about ten. lol
thanks
Wow Steve it looks fantastic! I love the details, very good job.
Thank you Noah!
Nice job Steve
Hi Jim! Thanks!
Awesome job Steve. I always enjoy all your projects and videos. Keep up the great work!
Thank you Josh!
Such a cool project, Steve!
Thank you very much! Your Grumpy Cat time lapse was awesome btw.
Steve Carmichael Thanks, Grumpy cat was a lot of fun to build! I have an X-Carve now, too. Hopefully I’ll get around to making the fire engine for my sons. If I do, I’ll make sure to tag you in the post! 👍🏻
Awesome work Steve, it looks amazing! 👍🏻🚒👊🏻
Thanks Fred!
Super fire engine Steve, great idea of gluing all those layers together and achieve this nice design
Hey Alain! Thank you sir! Good to hear from you! Hope y'all are doing well!
@@SteveCarmichael I've bin watched all the episode I didn't saw yesterday, what a treat :)) I'm fine with the covid but I caught a nasty virus, at least it's what the doc called it. I have Bell's palsy, half my face is paralyze.... Lucky that I still have 8 episodes ready to go, without counting the Christmas episodes, Otherwise it would be a drought on my channel. OK I don't have the face of a super model, but now I look more like the hunchback of Notre-Dame without the hunch:). I'm hoping everything is fine also on your end, at least for this darn pandemic...
Great Job, as a fireman myself I'd love to make one of these for our station.
Thanks Dale! I thought about making one for our local fire station, since it's designed based on their fire engine and station number. I would change the lettering to match the county fire dept name.
Steve Carmichael
That sounds like it would be awesome. I used to have Visio at the office when I worked, loves it. If I can find a version I may try and make one similar to your design with changes to fit out station and the guys and gals we work with in sister station. Great carving, I just got my Xcarve and I’m debating on putting together and start learning or wait until I build my workshop in a few months.
Take buddy, I’ll be following you for sure.
Luv your videos! you are so creative!
Thanks Jay! Good to hear from you man!
Holy smokes Steve, that came out great, and sweet paint job. Not many people going to get work done when they are at your wife's desk, rolling the truck around . We are all kids....lol.
Thanks Mike! I'll get the files to you. I need to clean them up first because I made tweaks after I imported them into Easel.
WOW, fantastic build there Steve, really worth all that effort in painting.
Thanks! I almost just sprayed it with lacquer, but felt like I needed to work on my painting skills. It took a lot longer to do, but glad I did it.
Amazing job Steve! I think I think this is my new favourite project of yours 👍🏻
Awesome, thanks Trevor!
I bought an X carve. If it ever gets here I might make one of those for a Christmas gift.
Cool, I'd love to see it. It's pretty easy. Carve time was about 3-4 hours...with most of it being the detailed sides.
Yep, it's in the 40's all right. FIRE truck, FIRE balls. You're FROZE! But that is one SHARP candy dispenser! A-PLUS! And keep on starvin', Marvin!
Thanks Lewie! It's dipping in the 30's at night. I need some warmer shorts!
@@SteveCarmichael 10/4 on the warmer short britches. I's getting a might coolish here too. But tis the season 4 it. Don't vapor lock on a turkey leg and BLESSINGS 2 yall!
good work man...
Thanks Frankie!
Cool project Steve! The more I see of the x carve the more I would love to get one to build guitar bodies with. Good video my friend!
Good choice for the candy.
Ha, thanks! I don't even like fireballs but I had to get some for the video. lol
Hey Steve! That's a sweet fire truck! I know the challenge of designing vehicles in layers! I'm also making wooden models, but without the x-carve! I've also made a fire truck a while back. You're always welcome on my UA-cam channel to take a look !
Hi Jolien! Thanks! Wow, you make some cool stuff. I will be catching up on your videos.
@@SteveCarmichael Thank you so much Steve!
Good job
Cool first track
I like it first track
Nice job first track
Thanks video
🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻
Dare I say it , but you're on "fire" steve lol great job came out awesome and oh gosh all the masking must have been torture but it was well worth it in the end !
Steve, that was a neat project!
Thanks Ron! My niece asked me to make a nativity scene thing for her Willow Tree nativity set. Guess who popped up when I was researching it last week? You sir! Ha ha! I'm working on painting it now. I think I've had enough painting for a while. lol
@@SteveCarmichael I'm sure she'll enjoy it. I just winged that project without any plans. I had to build 2 additional ones, once Jan's friends saw it. Happy Thanksgiving!
Outstanding project and very timely, too. This is a real winner Steve! I absolutely love it. You've inspired me to make one of these or something similar as a donation to a local non-profit fund raiser. Kids will love this fire truck, and I think our local volunteer fire department will get a kick out of having one of these at their fire station. Thank you very much for all the effort and thought you put into your videos! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Thanks! It is a fun project and they will love it if you make them.
Yet another fine video Steve. Absolutely love your work. I work at my nearby location of a national woodworking store and I always recommend your channel to interested new, intermediate and experienced woodworkers. Keep it up!
Hi Pete! Thank you very much! Is the store in the ATL area? If so, let me know which store at thecarmichaelworkshop@gmail.com and I will come by. I'm always ready to spend some money at a woodworking store. lol
@@SteveCarmichael no I'm down in Orlando Steve, but that would be amazing to meet you!
Steve, if you do another project like this with slices, you could use locator holes, say 1/4 inch maybe half the depth of the material, and then a short dowel to align the parts. Great project,
Hey Randall! Yeah, I intended to do that but totally forgot, then remembered when I started putting it together. Now that I made that mistake, I'll surely remember for next time for sure.
