Astonishing modern architecture. Love it. I'm also glad a couple of new skyscrapers is soon coming up on the other side of the tracks.

Hi Pål! I just want to let you know that your videos have been so helpful! I've had the Oslo playlist playing on loop for the past 2 days as I plan my itinerary. We're staying right across the Barcode buildings and for an archibuff, I'm super excited now because of this video. Thank you so much!

Those buildings are so interesting! I hope more areas in the States will think of building structures like those. Their purpose is so well thought out.

That looks awesome and so different to when I visited Oslo last time in 1995. I came with the nighttrain from Stockholm and bought 2 buns and half a liter of milk at the station for breakfast. That was so expensive, that I could not afford to buy anything else to eat the rest of the day and had to leave the same evening with the night train to Kopenhagen. (I had a scandinavia ticket) Fortunately the entrance fee of the Munch museum was free, so I could visit it. It was somehow up a hill quite far from the city center back in the days and looked much more "Norwegian" than the new one ;) (and much more inviting for thiefs, there were no guards, because burglarie was unknown back then. Good old days. In the 80s I was on a campsite in Norway and somebody (probably a tourist) broke into a car. The police was called but the officer who came did not know what to to, because it never happend before in his career ) I think they schould make the tracks of the central station underground. Would be much nicer. Thanks for your great videos and keep them coming!

That's some good stories you got there :D I enjoyed reading them, thanks for sharing!
I knew there was some talk about putting a roof over the train tracks and build a bus station on top. Let's see what happens..

A GREAT video. I absolutely love the architecture. Edgy but looks exactly right to me. Interesting forms, colors, and especially good planning to open up the fjord to walkers. Good stuff!! And.....none of them has "Trump" on them in gold letters. Lucky Norway. Thanks for a fun tour. PS The opera house is perhaps my favorite building in the world.

oh I definitely want to walk through this part of Oslo. Love the idea that you can live close to the water and walk from some of these building indoor. As you probably saw in Montreal, we have a downtown area that is connected underground with tons of stores and restaurants. In winter is it a way of staying warm while getting around.

@@ditim144 I partly agree with you Diti, they are not all so charming. When they first started to re-develop that area those were the first buildings that came and I remember I was a bit shocked by their appearance. Now that the whole neighborhood is coming together they sort of "fit" more in.. But I do think we could have used that space far better. Their thin and long shapes makes it feel quite empty in between many of them

@@norwaywithpal I have visited Oslo a couple of times. It is enough to take a look at the old center, especially at the buildings along Karl Johans gate then it is obvious how ugly the "barcode" is.
