@@KennyUA-camMakesMeFeelGood of course! Very happy I could get this reaction back up!
So fun fact…Robert Patrick, who played the T-1000, was a legit high-level collegiate sprinter. In the scene where John is trying to flee the mall on his dirtbike, they kept having to do retakes because Robert kept catching up to the bike.
dammit, beat me to it by 31 minutes, lol 13:22
They shoulda just kept that and let the movie end there lol
FuN fAcT
🤮
He also trained himself to run without breathing through his mouth and to shoot without blinking.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 beat me by an hour. Lol
Miles Dyson is one of the most underrated heroes written. He doesn't get nearly enough credit. This man sacrificed so much time with his family to build what he whole heartedly believed was going to be what led to a better world. When he was confronted with the reality of what all of his hard work would really lead to, he resolved to destroy it almost immediately. He didn't try to bargain, nor otherwise try to convince anyone or himself that he would do things differently. He knew what needed to be done and he gave his life to do it, regardless of how much he had put into it.
If only William and Annette Birkin (Resident Evil) had the same sense as him.
The actress who played her wife was in the Sarah Connor: Terminator Chronicles.
Which was underrated too sadly.
Couldn’t have said all this better myself Dyson is truly an underrated terminator character.
And what's the best fate a black man can hope for in an 80s action movie? To "die, son"!
He's a great character.
They should have added a scene where Sarah asks: "Why does it hate us?"
Miles: "I don't think it does hate you. We made it to protect us against a nuclear threat. Its every action was designed to respond to hostility with overwhelming force. That's how the Russians thought they were going to beat us, that's how we thought we'd beat them. Overwhelming force; If Skynet became self-aware and felt in any way threatend, it would respond ...
"With all the nukes you gave it access to."
"Yes"
"It would survive the way we made it to survive; By killing the enemy before it was killed."
I like that Laurenn asked how they shot the scene with pulling the CPU out of the terminators head. It's a really cool scene with Linda Hamilton standing next to Arnold in the "reflection" of the mirror, and Linda's twin sister is standing next to a prop Arnold head in the foreground. What's even better is that's not the only twins on set of this movie. The security guard that gets killed after getting coffee is killed by his twin brother playing the disguised T-1000.
I came here to mention the twins playing the security guard/T-1000, but I figured someone had beaten me to it ;) They can be seen in Gremlins 2 as well playing scientists.
Extended
Also, at the very end, when "Sarah" is calling for John, and then Sarah shows up behind her and blows a hole in its chest, that was Linda in the foreground and her sister in the back.
They say on the day of the shoot, the guy who killed his twin brother was really beside himself.
*ba-dum-TISS*
The Security gaurd twins were also in the movie Good Morning Vietnam with Robin Williams... their names are Don & Dan Stanton.
I love Robert Patrick's performance in this film, smaller than Arnold, but he's so good at instilling terror and menace with just a few looks.
He was very impressive with how physically disciplined he was.
Loved seeing him pop up in Wayne's World as well
I love the few line deliveries we get from him as well. As he's a newer model, he's a bit better at blending in and sounds less robotic when he speaks, but there's still just a little touch of some humanity missing behind the words. Really gives the sensation of a machine doing a good job at emulating human speech patterns, but not a perfect job. It's a really great subtle thing that probably required a lot of practice and focus to get it right in that sweet spot every single time.
Great performance! 👏
Yes.. Arnold is trash.
Fun fact: Robert Patrick got so fit and efficient for this role that James Cameron had to direct him to slow down when chasing John on the dirt bike. He was actually catching up to him. No camera tricks. Just Robert Patrick being a badass.
He also trained to breathe mostly trough his nose so even when running he would look more like a robot and not exhale and inhale deeply with his mouth like you would normally do while running.
The special effects have held up well, but in the 1991, this was completely next level. When I saw this in the theater, when "bad to the bone" played with Arnold walking down the stairs, the theater erupted in cheers. It's hard to believe that this film is 1/3 of a century old! Still, the 1990s was a great time to be alive.
Such an appropriate song for that scene, I loved it!
Also saw this in a packed sold out theater and this scene just got the audience so pumped, the reaction played out really well. I will never forget my experience watching T2 on the big screen, one of the all time best!
I remember we watched the hell out of this from VHS.
Quiet you, the 90's were only a decade ago...
All movie theaters were full when this movie came up. I remember having bought my movie ticket one month before the premier. It was the most expected movie of 1991.
At the beginning when Sarah says they sent two terminators. She was referring to the first one in the first film and "the second one to target John when he was just a child." (this film)
Yes. By misinterpreting what is said , it accidentally ruins the intent of the filmmakers , for the audience to think Arnold is the assassin and the real assassin is a person sent to protect John.
By not listening, you mean lol. The dialogue is very clear: Two terminators-One back in 1984 at Sarah, the second after John himself. One, two. Two protectors as well. I’ve never seen anyone miss this until I started watching reactors. They are all talking about what this movie COULD be about right about the time that this important nugget of information is COMPLETELY MISSED until the scene at the mall. More reacting, please-less predicting.
Yes, and it's annoying when reactors talk over important information, like when Arnold's character explains to john what type of terminator the T-1000 is. She wasn't aware that it was made of liquid metal because she kept waffling on about the protector business lol@dmanimousprime3858
When Sarah is removing the chip, that's Linda working on a prop dummy's head in the foreground, and the 'mirror' is just an open space. Her twin sister is in the background mimicking her movements with Arnold and another actor dressed to look like John. A very cool shot that was left out of the theater release.
The greatest action and sequel ever. This film is legendary, and revolutionised CGI in films. This movie changed the effects industry forever, and it's hard to believe that after 31 years, not only does T2 stand up, but it's STILL better than anything today. You may have seen Robert Patrick who plays the T1000 in lots of films and tv shows. He was in X Files, and most recently he was in Peacemaker, playing John Cena's dad. Great reaction to a classic!
He was also the federal agent handler in the US TV show "Scorpion" from earlier in the 2010s. In that show, they made several inside-joke references to Terminators and the T-1000.
I just wanted to say thank you for these videos. I live a very isolated life and as a result I'm very lonely but watching videos like yours helps me to feel less alone and kinda like I'm watching a movie with friends. Thanks for being awesome. ✌

No. I borrowed it from a cartoon character. My real name is dumb.
You have to watch "True Lies". It's also from James Cameron and with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The intro for the movie is fantastic. It's the burning playground from Sarah's dream. Also, it's great to see someone appreciate the slice that got taken out of the truck and ground.
One thing no one ever seems to notice is the third hand on the T-1000 during the helicopter chase scene. It’s a testament to Cameron’s attention to detail.
Some people have mentioned this, but the implication in the beginning wasn’t that there were two terminators, but that Arnold was still the bad guy and the T-1000 was another human sent back to help John when it was actually the T-800 reprogrammed by the resistance to help John. The misdirection was also ruined for fans because the trailers revealed the iconic “Get down” moment.
that scene when he sees the name of the dog really is good one - they did cut it for the "normal" relise back in 92 and se-inserted it later on on DVD. At that moment he realised he had been tricked and that plays on later on in the foundery i think (why he tries to get her to call for John, as he could mimic her voice but couldnt know if there is a code challange/or all clear signal aswell)
I've seen this movie at least a hundred times but I never thought about that why he couldn't just do her voice. Thank you
When he says “come with me if you want to live” it’s the same thing Reese said to her in the first one. Thanks for the videos. I don’t really leave home much so these videos keep me sane. Nice to kinda watch a movie with someone. And with all of your viewers experiencing the same. I hope you know it helps a lot of people.
@skoltothebowl88 I’m glad you pointed this out so I didn’t have to. @Lovelaurenn
I've said it before, but Robert Patrick was the most amazing villain in this movie. The training he did to be able to run at full speed while only breathing through his nose to make it look as effortless as possible, and he was fast enough that in a couple of takes he caught John's bike in the mall parking garage. Arnold was terrifying in the first Terminator because he looked so inhuman because of his build, but Robert just exuded menace, especially from his eyes, from the shootout at the mall to the end. He out menaced Arnold in the original, and that is itself amazing. And that bit at the end where Sarah's shotgun is empty and he heals the shots before slowly shaking his head and waggling his finger at her could have been stupid done by any other actor, but he had so sold the role that it was terrifying too.
I like the extended version for a few reasons. All the glitches with the T-1000 at the end: taking on the design and coloration of things he touches as he stalks them through the smelter shows that all the damage he had taken had had an effect, he lost his easy humanity from the beginning and became more and more robotic, and being frozen, shattered, and then reconstituted really showed that he was breaking down badly. It also made it easier for John to tell with a glance down at their feet, which of his mothers was real and which was a fake. I really liked that depth and description.
The smile scene added a lot to the proof of the T-101 learning. It made an effort, a gawdawful one, to mimic the young man's smile. But through watching the human he was most closely associated with he became more human in many ways. The colorful parts of speech, but more subtly, the smile he successfully imitated and used through the last half of the film was identical to John's smirk.
And, most importantly, the playground scene at the end absolutely, positively, guarantees that THIS is the end of the Terminator franchise, and that all those lame cash grabs defaming the Terminator name after this one can and should be ignored. It's all over. Period.
Best comment ever
@@jamesfoong9252 Thanks!
I heard that the camera never shows him blink
I always loved the Terminator rising up from the tiled floor. Really creepy/good sfx and shows they are devious and can infiltrate, while lying in wait for their target.
In the hospital, when the terminator changed from the floor into the guard, The actor playing the guard has a twin brother, IRL. And when the terminator mimicked Sarah, in the factory, that was Linda Hamilton's twin sister.
Never underestimate James Cameron. The man has two of the 3 highest grossing movies ever for a reason. Awesome to see you got this back on the UA-cam for us Laurenn! Enjoyed this video so much.
And he also likes to set the record for the most expensive movie ever made (at the time of release). T2, Titanic and Avatar were all the priciest in their respective time.
Original Terminator, Aliens, Terminator 2, Titanic, Avatar, and so many others!
Man has directed some of the greatest action movies of all time.
He was on a great run, but then he screws it all up with Avatar. That could've been good with a modicum of thought, but instead it's a fucking Pocahontas remake in space. If one likes slightly condescending stories about tribal cultures, it's surely straight up their alley.
@No Mind's Eye I agree. I never got the Avatar hype. I saw in the theaters and it was cool and all but...eh. I haven't rewatched it a single time.
@@MikkXIII If not for the mediocre writing, it could have been one of the greatest movies of all time.
It's still the best CGI we've ever had on the screen. The action scenes are great. The world building is phenomenal- they made a whole actual language for the Na'vi with its own grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, etc.
It's just that the writing fell kinda flat.
It isn't "bad", but it's nothing to write home about...
It's so much fun and absolutely fantastic to see you watching this amazing film. One of the best ever made. Here you can see how CGI works in a good way to help and not to take over the full movie like we can see that today.
The story, the atmosphere and the acting is so good.
Linda Hamilton had a twin sister. They used her with the mirror shot with the CPU removal. The mirror was actually just glass. The other shot was when the terminator took her form and you saw two Sarahs. Another twin situation was with brothers; the security guard at the mental hospital getting coffee. Great reaction. You will see some prefer just the first two terminator movies, like me. If you do watch the rest of the series, you will want to find out the difference between the original theatrical release vs the director's cut. (Actually, there are 3 versions of T2). The theater version ends at the road "black highway at night" leaving it more open ended.
Her name Leslie Hamilton. She died of COVID-19 August 2020 rip
Sarah Connor in the kids playground was also played by Leslie Hamilton.
I was wondering about a few things. This was not the version i remember. Especially that ending. I always remembered her driving off into the sunset contemplating whether it all worked or not. I'm always jealous of reaction videos because they get to live these awesome experiences I remember from fresh watch. So, it's cool seeing something I've never seen before.
@@Pinkielover, uh, didn't knew. Sad.
The security guard has a Twin brother too.
The "come with me if you want to live." is actually a reference to Kyle saying it back to Sarah in Tech Noir. It was the one line that make her realize that the Terminator is on her side.
I'm sure others have told you already that this was a extended director's cut and some scenes played out a bit differently and this wasn't the ending we got in the theaters. I thought they put a lot of cool stuff in there that was cool to see but I also agreed that not all of it really needed to be in the movie. In the theatrical version you barely see any sort of effect on the T-1000 from the damage he got. I think there was one little ripple that went over him after crushing the Arnold terminator's arm in the gear and that was it. But the one thing I really didn't like about that version is when John confronts the T-1000 as his mother. In the regular version you never see the T-1000's feet melting into the floor so when Sarah pops out and says "Get out of the way, John" it seems the only reason John trusts that she's his real mother is that she's getting him out of danger. He didn't have to see melting feet to know it's not his real mom. Made John seem smarter in that moment than how it came off here. A lot of the other stuff was great though.
38:39 Oh, and I must say, I really love the editing here. "I don't know how much longer I can hold this--" BOOM!!! Apparently he couldn't hold it long at all.
The theatrical release was much better. Also, the ending in this version doesn't allow for Terminator 3.
@@meteordealer Which I'm sure a large number of people would prefer. I don't care, I want more terminator movies.
there is not 'extended directors cut' 🤦♀
@@flexydex8754 Okay, would you prefer "a extended Special Edition in which James Cameron, the director, cut scenes back in to fit the vision he wanted"? Not sure what the issue is.
@@MysterClark the issue is you posting bs nonsense
Camerons vision is the theatrical cut, his directors cut. 🖕
I wouldn't be surprised if Connor had instructed the Terminator to say that line to Sarah upon their first meeting in order to "break the ice" in a way and move things along quickly without too much hesitation on her part
This is my second favorite movie of all time! Aliens being the first.
Fun facts.
1, In the opening, Arnold was wearing neon blue and green surfer shorts, and they had to keep reshooting because the extras couldn't stop laughing.
2, The foster mom is the same actress who played Vasquez in aliens.
3, Robert Patrick used to be a track and field runner, so he had to slow down during the motorbike chase because he kept catching up to it.
4, Linda Hamilton has a twin sister, and she played Sarah in scenes where they were together.
5, In the factory at the end, he wasn't able to keep his form because the ice.then the heat was affecting his structure, (he was glitching).
Lastly, for a recommendation, you have to watch Equilibrium with Christian Bale, it has action scenes that make both Matrix and John Wick look tame. Highly underrated movie.
"2, The foster mom is the same actress who played Vasquez in aliens" thats a really interesting 'fun fact' that i didnt know. i would have never have guessed and am not even getting the 'oh yeah ofc course' moment that i would have expected. i stil cant see it even though i am sure youre right.
@@ravenmasters2467 she was also in titanic i think sining to her kids as they were about to drown.
@@crankfastle8138 i'm proud to say i have never seen titanic in my life. never even close. but thatnks for the fun fact.
T2 is vastly superior to Aliens.
@@peterlenham3180
Maybe, but the guns from Aliens are top tier.
Honestly, I think if James Cameron had known about social media and reactors he would have changed Sarah's opening monologue. It clearly says that Two Terminators and Two protectors were sent back in Both movies. But everyone hears Two Terminators and assumes that both Arnold and the T1000 are Terminators which completely undermines the reveal when Arnold protects John.
Fun fact #2: A LOT of the stunts were real. The truck bursting through the overpass? Real. The cameramen refused to film it because they didn't want to possibly film a death, so Cameron filmed it.
The helicopter flying UNDER the overpass? Real. THAT is why this movie is so amazing.
The pilot of the helicopter that jumped out? Real... well he was really the pilot, not really jumped out. He also had the balls to do the underpass stunt, and Cameron himself had to film it because the other camera operators were all "hell no"
It was the helicopter going under the freeway they wouldn't film, not the truck scene.
One of the best sequels of all time like, Empire strikes back, Aliens....timeless. Still holds up to this day.

Robert Patrick was such a beast training for this role that they had to tell him to slow down when chasing John on the motorbike because he kept catching him.

The scene you spoke about how it was done, was originally cut in the original release to cut down the time, but was added back later as is often done these days. One thing about that scene you see Sarah and the reflection of Sarah in the Mirror, but there was a dummy or stand in for Arnold, and the real Arnold was in the mirror with none other than Linda Hamilton's real life twin sister Leslie playing the part of the reflection of Sarah.
I am so proud I was around to see this masterpiece in theatre. Awesome to be an 80's kid.
Gen X all the way!
I like the fact that the Vulcan mini-gun that he pulls out (and John says, "It's you.") is the same gun that Blaine (played by Jesse Ventura) used in Predator. Nice little wink to the Arnold franchise fans.
It's amusing how by mishearing (or misremembering?) what was said in the beginning about "two Terminators" (one after HER in 1984 & one after her son as a child) she stumbled on the answer to what was SUPPOSED to be a SURPRISE reveal! lol
Maybe the best action movie of all time! 😎👍
Please give STAR TREK a chance! 🖖
I will give it a chance for sure, may watch for a future video!
@@LoveLaurenn new ones , first 2 are just brilliant
I read that Linda Hamilton suffered permanent hearing damage filming the elevator scene as she removed her earplugs before Arnold fired the shotgun. Today she looks very similar to how "grandma Sarah" looks at the end of this film. Her twin sister passed away in 2020. I believe she worked as a nurse.
It blows my mind, the number of people who react to this movie, and hear Sarah say they sent two Terminators, but don't hear the very next thing she says, which is one came for her in 1984, and one came for John when he was still a child.
The best action movie ever, and arguably the best sequel ever. This is one of the movies I would watch with my dad all the time when I was a kid, and the thumbs up scene always hits me in the feels
P.S. Your Bad to the Bone cover was 🔥
Possibly. Gladiator is up there as well as some Jackie Chan films (not his Hollywood ones), also certain John Woo films would be up there.
A sequel that completely disregards everything established in the original, choosing to disregard even the very time travel rules just to make the film possible, choosing spectacle over everything else, relying on teenage friendly recycling of used concepts, even scenes, rather than introducing original ideas - can't be considered good, let alone greatest sequel. You're confusing popularity with quality.
@@jovanjorgovan23 Your in the minority. This film is legendary.

@@peterlenham3180 Mine? I might be in minority (says a lot about the average audience), but I'm not wrong.
Funny how your misunderstanding of „they sent 2 terminators“ already revealed the fact it’s 2 terminators in this movie. Because Sarah Connor meant 1 in 1985 to kill her and 1 now to kill John. I was blown away as a child watching this and finding out it’s 2 machines😂3rd Movie is ok. Some hand made and nice action and a real good ending (with some cheesy stuff inbetween). I’m a fan of the tv series also. Lovin' your reactions❤

"A different terminator with the same skinsuit on" is the best description I've heard of how that works lol
Your cackle when the Terminator tried to smile was EVERYTHING, I had to replay it twice. 😂😂😂
Arnie grabbed the shades because he needed windscreens for his human jelly eyes, not because they looked cool. The terminator seeks not such things.
I love this movie. If you watch 3 or any more, regard them as fanfic, is my advice. These first two are the real story.
Nah. Although heavily flawed, the first two can't be without the 3rd.
@@jeffreymcmahon3627 The happy ending being restored in this version precludes the possibility of 3 ever happening. I have a sneaking suspicion that might have been on purpose. It's like how Highlander 3 made it so that the events of Highlander 2: The Quickening would be erased. Retcon can be used for good.
Aaàhhhhhhh LL you're driving me bonkers with this 😋 you're not supposed to know they're both terminators. They sent back 2 Terminators to stop John, 1 in the first movie and 1 in the second movie. I just ribbing you a little but it sucks that you didn't get the big reveal that they're both terminators, that was an amazing moment!
To be fair, the people who put together the trailer for this movie back in 1991 made the same mistake, and spoiled that reveal for everyone. So, very few people who saw this when it first came out were surprised that Arnold was the good guy, even though it was supposed to be this big twist.
The greatest line ever - 'I cannot self terminate. You must lowe me int9o ze steel'.
Greatest sequel ever. I saw this in the movies at 8 years old with my brother. The score, everything in this movie was perfect.
(Caution, long)
34:20 - Notice the different actions/reactions. Kyle took Danny out of the room so the kid wouldn't be scarred. Dyson's wife is panicking at the sight of the stranger with a metal arm. Miles is looking at the arm, seeing it is the same type of arm as back in the lab, and truly understanding what it is and where it came from.
39:09 - imagine that situation from the SWAT team's perspective. As part of their training they were briefed on the police station massacre from the first Terminator movie, and based on the situation and training the police did everything correct against a single well-armed attacker. At least they got pictures of the person. Figure kill houses like that would also be used for SWAT and police training, to see if they could do as good of a job as the attacker.
And then they get a call. The same person has been sighted in a mall, and fortunately one of their former officers was able to take a series of pictures of the person to verify (the guy in the mall taking pictures was the same one that played the officer slammed into the car in the first movie). Those pictures get developed ASAP and sent around. That old case file is retrieved, the name Sarah Connor is noted, and her location brought up. Officers head over to the Psychiatric Hospital, get an immediate meeting with Sarah Connor, but get nothing out of her. Later that evening they get told that she ws broken out of the Psych Hospital by the same guy, but the Doctor who was the sole witness to the breakout appears to be in shock.
She disappears for a day, then they get a call from Cyberdyne systems, saying that the guy from the mall is present (they were likely included in the alert). SWAT teams are briefed, and one team goes up the stairs, while this team is told to hold the lobby as it is the only place where a group of people could come out easily. That Lobby's SWAT team watches their buddies go upstairs, then hear the helicopter outside telling someone to drop a weapon.
Then the minigun opens up. They can hear its rate of fire, they can hear the bullets punching into the metal of the police cars outside, and fellow officers encouraging each other to run. The bullets soon stop and are then followed by multiple explosions. Another pause, and soon they can hear their fellow officers returning fire. The firing doesn't stop which tells them that whoever is being shot at is still alive and merely returning further inside. If they use their radios they get told that the person does not appear injured.
Their buddy team soon says they they are breaching the room. A few gunshots, a couple more explosions, then they hear their buddies suddenly yelling to 'Fall back now, move!' A massive explosion overhead follows a few seconds later.
The Lobby team then hears an elevator ding and the door opening. Not wanting to take chances, a pair of tear gas grenades are fired at the door, and a few seconds later they see someone emerging from the gas. They are still very well trained, and have enough calm to give him two chances to surrender, but when he keeps on waking the leader tells the team to open fire, and they do.
But the person isn't stopping. They are shooting him, they are seeing him stagger slightly, they are aiming for the head, but he is still coming! Some of them think they are seeing metal plates on his skull and the bullets are just bouncing off that metal. Eventually he gets close enough to the team that he (it?) pulls out a pistol and starts shooting them one at a time, in the knee. One shot, one knee, one officer out of action.
When he runs out of bullets for the gun he grabs the trear gas launcher and aims it at the last two officers. Both of them are still shooting at him with their pistols because they ran out of ammo for their Submachine Guns, but it isn't doing anything. He shoots both of them with the gas grenades, knocking them down, then exits the building. Their training helps them slowly overcome their panic, and they go to check on each other, checking for wounds, etc.
After a few minutes, they see their own SWAT van being driven towards the lobby, and scatter out of its way. It swings around to present its rear to the elevator area, and they barely see two other people run out of the gas and jump into the SWAT van, where it drives away.
The After-Action Report is worse. Out of all the weapons fire, nobody was killed. Every officer there knows it could have been a bloodbath, and the only reason that they are all alive and relatively uninjured is because that one individual let them live. The SWAT team especially know this because he fired one shot into their knees, instead of one shot between the eyes. The pilot still won't talk about why he jumped out of his helicopter.
Those SWAT team personnel will never be the same again.
The future end-scene (with older Linda Hamilton playing old Sarah Conner) was added for the DVD/blu-ray special edition. The original theatrical and extended versions ended with a scene of the highway with a voice-over of Linda Hamilton saying that the future isn't set.
"Did They Recover The Crushed Up Terminator And Know That She's Telling The Truth?"
In a deleted scene from the first terminator movie, they showed Sarah being loaded into the ambulance and the building that she'd crushed the first terminator as being Cyberdyne Systems, the company that originally built the Terminators
Hi Laurenn!
If I may be so bold, I'd like to suggest another James Cameron film that I think you'll enjoy; 'The Abyss' (1989). If you decide to see this film, I'd also suggest seeking out the DVD version that includes as an extra, the documentary 'Under Pressure - Making The Abyss'. The movie itself is fairly amazing, but the documentary adds a whole new level of respect for the filmmaker.
How about "Titanic"?
@@eatsmylifeYT "Titanic"? Never heard of it... 😜Kidding, of course! There are no bad James Cameron films, but "The Abyss" is one that frequently slips under many peoples radar...
@@daveweston5158 Since both of them like chick flicks, they've probably seen it, but for a second there, you made me doubt that Cameron did make Titanic. 🙄
The great blockbuster of 1991, I remember the furor of those days. A movie that cost a lot of money. It is a film that seen today, it does not look old, neither in image nor in effects, quite the contrary, the effects were so well done, with such dedication that they stand the test of time, even much better than the current CGI Using a combination of practical effects, makeup and CGI, the FX in this film was revolutionary and helped many subsequent films.
The difference that 7 years makes to a film is absolutely incredible. If you put these two films side by side, the improvements seem exponential.
What's even more incredible is that the effects on the second film hold up even now 30+ years later.
I think we went to the cinema twice to see this and I've honestly never done that with any other film.
Thanks for another cool reaction video...!!
I've seen this movie countless times and I STILL have trouble making sense of the fact that John's foster mother Janine is played by the same actor who played Vasquez in Aliens. The other thing I wanted to say is that watching this with someone who's never seen it before helped remind me that the switch/fakeout with Arnie being a Protector this time around really is such a cool subversion.
Every reactor confuses the opening monologue where Sarah says "they sent 2 terminators back in time..."
She continued that by saying the first one was sent to eliminate her and the 2nd was sent to kill John. But it's always, for some reason taken as they sent 2 terminators in this movie... which kind of ruins the surprise... sort of 😁
I mean, they did send 2 in this movie ... but one was sent by the machines and the other by the resistance, but you are not supposed to know that they are both terminators until later.
I always find it funny how a misunderstanding of what was said leads to people knowing the truth of the situation 😀
One of the greatest sci-fi movies ever made and definitely in the top 3 sequels ever made.
Cameron really knew how to use CGI and practical effects to its limits.
T2 is also, sequel or sci-fi aside, one of the greatest movies ever made.
I remember this being released.
It was....... Massive.
And has shaped the movie industry since,
T1 and T2 also have, next to Alien and Aliens, the best character arcs in history.

22:58 Exsqueek squeek!
I love your squeaks...
Edit: 43:17 annuva squeak!
Creepy
When she said they sent back 2 terminators, the first was to 1984, and the second was for this movie.
Even though there were 2 terminators in this movie, Skynet only sent one of them.
But that confusion kind of ruined the idea everyone normally has that the human-looking person was the hero and Schwarzenegger was the villain.
Fun fact, Patrick -- the guy playing the 1,000, trained on running for the role and the scene. He was actually so fast that he kept catching up to the bike, and making the bike go faster wasn't safe so they had Patrick slow down for the scene.
Cool point. His dad certainly would be alive in the timeline, so he could have met him [just under different circumstances]. It would have been even cooler [at the end] if they had shown a brief encounter [or even that he had some sort of different history] with his dad! In this timeline Sara could meet Kyle again, but he would be a whole lot younger. She could meet him as she is a grandmother, and he would be the age she knew him when they were together in the first movie. [and he would have no knowledge of her or any war since none took place] Kool thought. The movie should have included her meeting Kyle again in this new timeline.
Great reaction. To get a bit of insight into how the robots were made I would recommend watching the T2 teaser. As you mentioned, Kyle talked about how humans were kept alive in factories to build the machines. Arnold's model was just one of many, and came off a production line.
It's interesting, for all the talk of "no fate" in these 2 movies, there are reasons to suggest they didn't actually stop Judgement Day, only delayed it. If you noticed, Arnold's arm was (again) left behind in the machinery which means that research on Dyson's work could start all over again.
"How fast can they run?"
Well, that scene had to be re-filmed and shot a few times because the actor playing the T-1000, Robert Patrick, kept on catching up to the bike. So, I would say pretty fast. 😂
Actually, the two terminators sent by Skynet refer to the one sent to kill Sarah in the first movie and the one sent to kill John later in this movie. The twist is that there was a third terminator sent, and not by Skynet.
A great reaction, Laurenn, T2 is a great sequel, there are others of varying quality (mostly poor), you can leave it here if you want to, but if you did want to go further then I'd only recommend, 'Terminator 3: Rise of The Machines', personally I like this film, but many don't as it's not a David Cameron film, Arnie comes back to play the T800, in it and it has some other cast members in it too.
One thing that most people miss is that, in the soundtrack it features Guns N' Roses songs, when the two Terminators first meet in the shopping mall both pursuing John Connor, Arnie is carrying a box of Roses inside the box is a hidden shotgun so, Guns N' Roses it's a nod to the band.
Now that you watch it with the "nothing happened"-ending, you can clearly not watch the third movie. Maybe it's for the better...
Some really hate the third movie, but it's not *that* bad. Only when compared to this one. This could be the best sequel ever.
Edit: Right, you wanted feedback on the reaction too. Super! Great as always. You seemed to enjoy both the action and the humour. It's always a treat when you upload a reaction to a movie I've watched and enjoyed myself. Thanks, and keep 'em coming.
I've heard the 3rd movie wasn't so great but I may end up giving it a watch anyways😄Glad you enjoyed my reaction donkfail, I definitely enjoyed the action and the effects, freaking amazing. The humor and interactions between John and the terminator really tugged at my heart. Thank you for watching!
@@LoveLaurenn Honestly the third (and I'll even say, the fourth) movie isn't that bad. It's NOWHERE near as good as the first two, but I'd watch the third movie for the ending alone. I actually DID like the fourth movie (Salvation), but it was originally supposed to start a new trilogy, but since it didn't, it ends up feeling kind of disjointed and underdeveloped. I didn't like the next two (Genisys and Dark Fate) at all though. Just felt like they were trying to milk it at that point.
I agree that the 3rd movie isn't that bad, and it's only possible for there to be future releases of the franchise because of the theatrical ending. I wish most reactors to this movie would only watch theatrical releases, to experience exactly what moviegoers would have seen.
T2 caused rift in Time and Space so rest of Terminator movies are all set in different paraller universes :) None of the are bad, but not in the same level as first two.
@@LoveLaurenn The third and fourth Terminator movies are okay but not anywhere near the first three parts. The series gets (more or less) two really fun reboots with Genesys and Dark Fate each one being a sequel to Judgement Day but creating alternete Attempts for that. Both are more fun to watch though in their own way and almost reaching the first two movies in quality again. So don´t be surprised if you have to chew yourself to two more generic Terminator movies first if you wanna watch them all. The last two become fun to watch again. 🙂
What a great, entertaining reaction Laurenn! I subbed a while back, and for some dumb reason YT hasn't been including you in the reccs until today. Great job!
In the opening monolog Sarah says 2 Terminators were sent back, one to kill her (the first movie) and one to kill (John) the T-1000 in this movie. And also, that each time a protector was sent back too. It was a setup to make viewers think the cop was a good guy at first, the protector, then pull a switcheroo on them at the mall.
As I said in the last posting of this video, YOU KEEP YOUR ARNOLD IMPRESSION GOING!!!
In the opening the two terminators mentioned that were sent to kill john was the one in the original film and the one in the second film, so you thinking from the start that there were two terminators; screwed up how you were suppose to perceive the film. This happened in an even bigger way with the trailer for the film 1991, revealing that Arnold was the hero. Originally this wasn't supposed to happen, but It was supposed to be a twist where you thought that the T1000 was like Kyle Reese from the first film and that scene in the hallway was going to blow peoples minds, that Arnold was there to protect John; and the "cop" was actually a new kind of terminator. James Cameron decided at the last minute to reveal that Arnold was the hero, some say that this was a good idea and was actually a reason why it did so good at the box office; because everyone saw Arnie as a Hero by then. At least you got to experience half of the effect, still thinking Arnold was an evil terminator. You watched the Alternate ending version of the Directors Cut, I prefer the Extended Version that has the original ending, it has all the awesome extra bits and keeps the ending as it was. Great video as always... :)
Those big station wagon were very room and comfortable and had a smooth rife going down the rode. And many had flip up rear seats in the cargo area.
You're so hilarious when you try to imitate Arnold 😂 Especially when he tries smiling
That security getting coffee are actually real twins . They've been in other movies together .
Gremlins 2 comes to mind
@39:12 Can you imagine being the Police Sgt or whoever was in charge of that squad and having to report back what happened?
"Yeah my guys got headshots on him and he just... kept... coming"
Not only do they not make station wagons any longer, but people like me bought them up to run in demolition derbies. lol. The sunglasses shes wearing are actually antique welding glasses.
The shot of Sarah working on his head in the mirror.
The reflection was the 2 of them on the other side of thr mirror, and it was a fake Terminator head being operated on by her twin sister.
Super stoked that you got this back up on UA-cam! I've been wanting to rewatch it again! Aliens and T2 are the best sequels ever fr fr.
Thanks Corporal I'm glad too, was a pain in the ass but it's up now FINALLY!
Real men will always tear up in that last scene seeing Arnold's Terminator go.
Sarah literally said two terminators were sent, one before John was born (part 1) and when he was a kid (part 2)
Another fun reaction to my favorite movie! Glad you enjoyed it. Especially starting off with the extended cut too, got to see stuff I didn't see for the first few years of my viewing experience.
That "thumbs up" as Arnold is lowered into the Steel, kills me every time I watch this movie...
Ohhhh the amount of fun facts I could throw your way about this movie. I might as well gloat about Robert Patrick's T-1000. When he was chasing John in the parking garage, he kept accidentally catching up to him because he trained so hard running. He also spent a lot of time practicing not blinking while shooting a gun, because he thought a robot wouldn't blink or flinch while shooting a gun. I miss when people put this much care and effort into their movies. Such a better time for film-making.
_“They sent two terminators, one was programmed to strike at me in the year 1984, before John was born. It failed. The second was set to strike at John himself when he was still a child. As before, the resistance was able to sent a lone warrior a protector for John.”_
So no, they didn’t sent two terminators in this movie, well not Skynet. Skynet did sent two terminators in total. One in first movie, second in the second movie.
I know people don’t pay attention to narrations at the beginning, but this was pretty clear 😁.
Fun Fact: Through the entire run time of the film. During the scene where John called home to his foster parents, that's the only time the two terminators talked to each other. But the even then, they were both imitating someone else.
❤Linda Hamilton was also in a 1987 tv series 'Beauty & the Beast' with Ron Perlman❤
"Get Out!" . . . he did not live. that fall is lethal
when Sarah said they sent 2 terminators back she was talking about the one from part 1 to kill John before he was born and the second one in part to kill him when he was a teenager
this came in my recommended and i started to watch it then realised i did actually watch the first upload and enjoyed it. i decided to watch a few mins more anyway and ended up watching it all start to finish, thoroughly enjoying it once more. i also loved the editing at the end when you were going over the things you enjoyed and you replayed snippets highlighting those moments. ive not seen that done before. it must have been a ton of extra work for you but imho it was really worth the effort. i'm surprised you dont have many more subs than you do as i think your commentary was very entertaining and quite insightful at times. and dont put yourself down... by the end you were doing a very entertaining arnold impersonation. the fact that you had been hearing these one-liners all your life from a 30-year-old movie just shows how massive and iconic this is, and well-deserved i think you would now agree. also considering its age i think its phenomonal that the special effects still stand up and impress somone of your generation.
So many people just don't listen to the intro. "Skynet sent two terminators back in time, the first programmed to strike at [Sarah] before John was even born. The second programmed to strike at John when he was still a child" and "As before the resistance was able to send a lone protector." So one was sent to the last movie and one to this movie. (by Skynet)
I feel it damages the story if you are expecting 2 terminators... but... what can you do, people don't listen anymore... "In my day..." what are you looking at, get off my lawn!
The villain isn't a terminator, it's the 90's version of a psych facility...
Laurenn "that's kind of a nice truck"
Me: wait tin you see it with the top down...
The extended version has some good scenes. But I prefer the original ending.
Still awesome reaction, and I love seeing this movie through fresh eyes.
From all Terminator 2 Reactions I saw this is my Favorite so far.
Also you saw the beginning of the type of man John would become. Loved it, one of my favourite movies and my favourite sequel.
The gun in the rose box. That’s an Easter egg for the guns and roses band that made the song for t2
it's fun to watch your mind get blown, so emotive. your delight at the hasta la vista line 42:36 😃
"Come with me if you want to live" is a throwback to the first film - Reece says it to Sarah at Club Technoir.
Thank You LoveLaurenn for this Terminator 2 reaction video!
People may have answered this already, but the way they got the shot of the head operation at the mirror is that there is no mirror, but rather a hole in the wall into a mirror image room and they actually used Linda's twin sister, and a "dummy" model of the Terminator, on one "side" of the mirror, and Arnold and Linda on the other side.
I always love your reactions, Laurenn! Glad you got to see this one. So good! The special effects, at the time, were groundbreaking.
Much love to you, beautiful ❤😘🇨🇦
10/10 subbed
Just when you think this movie couldn’t get any cooler, consider the fact that this movie was made 32 years ago and it still outshines almost every movie made to this very day ;)
Thank you so much for reacting to the special edition version!!!! It’s so hard to find reactors who react to this version :)
Everyone immediately assumes there are two Terminators because of Sarah's opening monologue, even though she clearly said "the first was set to strike at me in the year 1984 (...) the second was set to strike at John himself" meaning Skynet only sent one to 84, and one to 95. ... Yes, there were two Terminators, but not two sent by Skynet, Skynet sent only one.
Not true. The T-1000 is also a Terminator, so Skynet did send two terminators back.
@@Arthus850 Two in THIS movie. The monologue was not meant to say "there are two terminators in this film", it meant there was one in 1984, and one in 1995.
But people misunderstand the "two" part to mean "we got two this time?"
While there technically are, Skynet didn't send both. Only the T-1000
I am really glad you got to watch a version of the film, that includes the deleted scenes 🥰
People used to say Arnold's acting was wooden and robotic in the early 80s... turns out the Terminator role was perfect for him. Seriously though, I have always dug Arnold's 80s movies. They are all iconic. T2 was like the cherry on top of the cake. It was a 90s film but still carried all the 80s practical fx work as well as the classic quotable one liners and added the brand spanking new CGI fx that with this film and Jurassic Park became the new standard of VFX cinema moving forward. I have been in CGI professionally since 1995 and these early films using Silicon Graphics computers helped push the entire computer VFX industry forward. I look at those t1000 Renders with nostalgic eyes.
Craziest thing about the scene with the T-1000 chasing the dirt bike. They had to film it multiple times, because the actor had trained so hard that he was -actually- catching up to the dirt bike and had to slow down.
