    I Inherited my grandparents Lopi stove when I purchased there home, which they built themselves in 1980. I had many good memories with that stove, and my grandfather especially. When my sons were young, we were able to enjoy that fire and i enjoyed passing on the teachings and enjoyments of a good wood stove in the home. When that house went away that stove was the only thing I really really wanted to take with me. Ten years after losing that I still think about that stove whenever its cold out. If im ever fortunate enough to own my own home again and be able to have a wood stove, it will be a Lopi.

    When we bought our endeavor the said they would install it for $300. Being cheap I wanted to do it myself to save the money. My wife insisted we let them do it citeing insurance reasons. Best decision of my life!! Two middle aged guys took 6 hours to put it in and these guys were as smooth as butter. Talked about football the entire day and I don't think they mentiond what they were doing as they were so well informed on what they were doing. DON'T PUT IT IN BY YOURSELF !!

    • @YourOldDog

      @Level3-RC Okay, put one in yourself to see if this is a fake comment. save yourself $300 (20 year ago figure) and spend it on hireing someone to come in and straighten up your mess. My chimney went through two floors and a closet. Pitch of my roof is nearly 45 degrees and to keep things interesting a lightening storm brewed up as they were finishing the roof but the guy wouldn't come down until everything was flashed off with his partner nearly screaming at him from the ground. Believe what you want. (just noticed this original post was from Countryside Stove and Chiminey. There may be more than one but we used a company by the same name in or near Chaffee NY.) ( could give two shits what you believe, I just wanted to give fair warning to anyone thinking it was too expensive to have installed for them and wanted to do it for themselves)

      @@bayside6207 6 years later - it's AWESOME! It's blazing at this exact moment out in the living room, keeping the entire large living area a toasty 74 to 80 degrees warm, depending how much wood we feed it. We have had not one issue; well, a bit of paint has scraped off the front tray below the window. Other than that, it just works. We have a magnetic temperature gauge attached to the top of the main burning chamber. We tend to operate the stove at the high or hot end of the spectrum. The installer said this is good to do, as it keeps the chimney cleaner with less carbon and soot build up.
      What's amazing is how generally cool (except for the top) the area is around the unit. The back of the stove is only 6 inches from a painted wall. However the wall has suffered no bubbling or blistering paint over the six years of use. It was a great investment. It's nice when the house is 80 degrees inside when outside it's 32 degrees. Glad we had it put in.

    I worked for a Lopi dealer in northern Minnesota years ago, and I have to say, I have yet to see a better stove. We had a Liberty in our showroom and it put off a massive amount of heat. I am getting ready to build a new cabin in northern Wisconsin and the only heat source is going to be my Lopi and several ceiling fans. I will probably buy an Endeavor, but it will most likely be too much stove for the space. I don't mind. I'll just adjust the air flow. With good wood and the the fans I won't have a problem heating 1,500 sq. ft. with the stove.
    Most problems are user errors; no ash in the box, ceiling fans pushing down instead of pulling up, damp wood, bad install. Reading through the comments below pretty much confirms this. I have not had any ties to Lopi in almost 20 years, but they are still the best damn steel stove you can buy.

    Hi, I know you are a salesperson for lopi wood stoves but the house I just bought has a fairly new wood stove installed in the living room. My last home had a lopi and I loved it! I have been using wood stoves for 30 years. This woodstove has a fan installed on the back of it has the tubes air tubes in the top of it a damper in the stove pipe and an air control in the bottom. Our home is 936 square feet single-level the living room is pretty much closed off with the kitchen through a small doorway, down the hall at the other end of the hall are the two bedrooms. My 92 year old mother is in one bedroom I am in the other one. The heat from the wood stove does not reach down the hallway into the bedrooms so I try to keep the woodstove going from morning till evening, letting the fire die off and then the furnace runs at night while we're sleeping. However my problem is when the furnace comes on at about 9 at night and the heat blows out of the baseboards, smoke comes out of the wood stove around the door and out of the upper damper and the lower air damper. Some help to solve this would be greatly appreciated thank you.

    I watched a few videos about this stove by this man. I went to a dealer today, confident that I was going to buy the Lopi 1750i or the Revere. (I even had the installer lined up.) Unfortunately, the look and feel of the stove was extremely disappointing. Moreover, the door did not appear to be as solidly built as it is said to be in this review. It is now a two-piece door, which may not have been the case when these video's were produced. It had up-and-down play to it and rattled when I jostled it, and the glass did not visually appear to fit evenly with the door frame. Thanks a lot. The owner of the store was honest and admitted that this was not an exception or a bad stove, and Lopi appeared to be cutting corners to keep up with competitors in the steel stove market. One apparent positive another dealer gave me that accrued to the different door design did not convince me: the gasket is easier to replace. The ease of a gasket replacement does not make up for a weaker door that to a non-specialist appeared rather flimsy. There's more. Of all the stoves I have closed lately, the Lopi 1750i or Revere have the least positive lock. Again, this is a subjective and tactile observation, so don't take my word for it: go and see for yourself and compare. I am not saying the door does not seal or anything like that. What I am saying is the word "quality" does not dance in front of you when you actually lock the door. All the research I did lost its persuasive force when "customer met product." I thought my journey to find a wood insert that fit my rather small fireplace, one which had a decent-sized fire box (2.2 cubic feet), had ended. It started again at what seemed to be the finish line. Shucks.

    I just bought one (evergreen) and it puts out a lot of heat but there are some minor drawbacks: 1) The ash collection system is clumsy and cumbersome and I eventually just went back to scooping out the ashes manually with a metal bucket and fireplace shovel. 2) The fan that comes with it (optional) really broadcasts the heat nut is NOISEY as hell, especially on the higher settings. But the baffle system really gets the heat moving and the bypass lever allows you to load the stove in a smoke-free fashion. That being said, it's a quality stove made of sturdy, plate steel (no brittle cast iron parts) that is well finished and allows it to also be used as a cooktop, which I took advantage of during this last Winter from hell that knocked out our power for two weeks. Another big plus: no catalytic converter is required for the unit, which is an expensive component that periodically needs replacement. Should you buy one? I'd give it a solid four and a half stars from being a consumer who has used wood stoves for over 40 years....

    One thing about burning dry wood in stead of damp wood is that the water in wood will turn to steam and carry your heat out the chimney and also cool the smoke and cause your chimney to plug up with creasote faster, so if you want the most heat out of your stove use dry seasoned wood.

    You need what is called “MAGIC HEAT”-it hooks a few feet above the stove into the stove pipe. It catches heat that usually goes out the stove pipe and outside and is waisted heat. It has a built in fan and throws a lot of the heat back into the room. It does require 110v hook up.

    • @bighammer587
      @bighammer587 3 роки тому +1

      @ Hippie Lewis The old, old stoves from way back when had poor heat extraction compared with the new modern design. The efficiency of the new generation of wood stoves prevents excessive heat loss up the flue, rendering the “Magic Heat” device useless. In fact, it would be a bad mistake to install one of them on a new stove.

    • @JodBronson

    In November 2011 I purchased the Republic Lopi 1750 wood stove that was recommended by the local stove dealer.. It is the worst wood stove I have owned. Others were a Nashua and a Jotul No. 8. This stove does not adequately heat my 950 square foot home. The draft control is poor. When opening the door to reload wood, smoke almost always enters the room with the flue damper open and the air flow open to max. this should not happen. I always burn well seasoned hardwood. My chimney is new and cleaned annually. It requires constant monitoring to keep an even temperature and will not burn overnight. I have been totally disappointed with the performance and can't wait for this heating season to be over so I can buy another stove that works! I've kept it this long because of the over $1900.00 purchase price. I wish I did more research before making the purchase.

      Sounds to me like you definitely have a "draft problem" If your flue clear as it should be, then i suggest you have the dealer address the problem. I'm guessing there is something "drastically wrong" with the stove itself. Something INTERNAL?? With damper and draft control open there should be "no smoke" backing up into the room. It does sound like a stove problem to me. I just looked it up Heats homes "1200 to 2000 square feet". Baloney My home is 984 sq ft. Newer stove You absolutely "Need a blower to push the heat" My stove brochure said the same damn thing...heats up to 2000 sq ft Nope. I doubt that buying a new stove will solve your problem. You need to find out ( for sure ) what the problem is. Stove or poor chimney draft? Good luck

    I'm in the market to purchase and install a woodburning stove. Lopi was one of the stoves I was interested in until I found out from a person who has a Lopi in her cabin, that Lopi does not come with a guarantee from the company it's self but you must attempt to obtain a guarantee from the installer it there is an issue with the stove. The person who informed of has an issue with a defective seal around the glass and the intaller has broken the promise of fixing the issue. No thanks.

    At time 4:20, you DON'T want cool air at the bottom of the floor to be sucked into the stove. That stove is bringing cool and warm air into it, but it's causing its own drafts by sucking air from say under the exterior doors of the house, from around your windows, from the electrical outlets, cracks from ceiling lights, from air ducts of your furnace, etc. You're best to bring in outside cool air direct vent to the stove, and that's where the stove can fuel the fire. Otherwise the stove will draw upon all the imperfections of the house, and continually cause a large draft situation. At the same time you have heat from the stove, you'll also have drafts coming into the house. I should've never listened to a LOPI 'Salesman" when I bought my stove. I like my stove, but he didn't think I needed the outside air kit. That fresh air inlet is everything to having an efficient operating stove. Don't listen to this salesman. He doesn't really have your best interests in mind. He's trying to undersell the product. Shame shame.

    This fire pit is one of a few covered pits that is on the list ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxAU9pOCSV9Y5JprooHvfxTpOrt4hx8uRM of approved products for Disney Fort Wilderness. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. We were able to open the door and do s'mores, but I had to be careful because the handle was a bit hot on occasions. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.

      Not at all. Just get a decent stove and all is well. The steel is NOT "paper thin" This is my #3 stove over many many years, the one i have now i about 10 years old "Avalon Rainier" If you need to really worry, then don't buy CAST IRON They can crack if overheated. "Buy a blower"

      I used a Liberty for years in northern Minnesota for years and never once had a problem. We ran ours hard every day and never had a single problem. Lopi's don't warp like cheap stoves from home improvement stores.

    Great instructional video. Regarding the oxygen that the stove uses as fuel, can you comment on whether that is sourced from the house air or an external source? Yours seems to be burning the house's air. What about bringing air in from outside?

    • @timohan100
      @timohan100 6 років тому

      If I remember correctly, Lopi wood stoves typically use less than 100 CFM when you are burning. Compare that to a traditional fireplace with a spark screen that can use over 1,000 CFM. Lopi used to make what is called an outside air boot for bringing combustion air in from the outside. In northern Minnesota this was required for a mobile house install. Not sure if it is still available. In a traditional house I don't think it is necessary. Even a Lopi Liberty will consume a lot less air than your clothes dryer.

    He says it will burn 8 to 10 hours. NOT!! We have a new stove and have been using it for one year. It will NOT burn all night. Someone feeds it at bedtime at 10p then again at 2am then again at 5am and again at 8am and this is regardless of which wood we use,, soft or hard.. If we do not feed the stove the house gets very very cold and we worry about freezing the pipes.

    • @Chuck88keys
      @Chuck88keys 7 років тому +1

      Very FEW of the stoves will "burn all night" ( if any ) Notice they all say ""up to 8 yours" or up TO 10 hours. It's the UP TO we don't pay attention to.. WHY is it so cold in the house? Bad windows and doors? I would be concerned. I always try to buy the best hardwood for heating........red or white oak hickory black birch cherry The better ( more dense ) woods will give a longer burn.
