    I installed the same stove without the fan or green start. I like to light it myself so it feels like camping. The first half dozen or so fires sure stink up the place, but after it's cured it's really nice.

    Nice Video. After having the stove this winter, how do you like it still? Does it really burn wood up to 20.5 inches long? Does the glass stay clean? How is the door latch and seal? Is it easy to clean out with the ash pan? Do you think the other box / ash pan would be better to have? Thanks for the video. Big purchase it helps to see videos like this.

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  Рік тому +1

      😊 Hi Robert,
      Thanks for commenting and checking out the video. I would say you could probably burn 20”, it is going to get tight in a hurry cuz the door is smaller than the box. We use 16”.The glass gets dirty. Factors are the moisture in the wood and how close the flame is to the glass. No issues with the door or seal. Very easy to clean, although the ash box can easily overflow and make a mess. We use vinegar and ash to clean the glass, generally works well. Hope that helps!🍺🚜🇺🇸

    Hello to my fellow Lopi owner. I have the same stove but mine is a full size fireplace insert and it sits out about 5 inches from the faceplate. My old insert lasted well over 30 years and only cost a fraction of what this Lopi cost me at just over $6600 which included the stove, custom built faceplate, blower, connections, new chimney liner, new chimney cap and labor. It's an insert verses your free standing stove but has the same specs as yours does. I did not get the green start system. It's mid October 2022 and I'm about to use it for the first time fairly soon but as I also have a real nice pellet stove I can wait till it's colder here in Northern Michigan. I was wondering though as to the issue of first start. I was told that the stove can have a metallic smell at first while the metal is heated for the first few times. Is this something that you dealt with. Thanks for your informative video and don't worry I have some of those socks as well.

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  2 роки тому +2

      😊 Hi Kagnewmp! Thanks for checking out the video. 👊🙌 We experienced a little bit of paint smell the first couple burns. My wife loves to have a fire with windows or doors open, so it really wasn’t an issue. The green start does have a learning curve. I figured out to cut some 2”x2” size starter wood, about 8” long and pile it up about 1-2” away from the igniter. I also tried putting firewood under the pile or on top, both ways seem to work. My wife is a city girl and loves being able to start her own fire. I hope that helps! Nothing like wood heat. I have two pellet stoves in the shop, still love the wood heat, it’s the best. Take care and stay warm!!!🍺🚜🇺🇸🌲

    @CK-dt6nx 10 місяців тому +1

    Fun fact. If that is a catalytic stove, which im pretty sure it is, then that wasn't smoke. That was just water vapor. Cats convert carbon and hydrogen compounds from the wood to just CO2 and H20. You will see the white whisp when it's cold outside and the moisture condenses. That's where the efficiency comes in to play buring nearly 100% of the smoke and wood. You should be left with very little creosote in the chimney other than light weight fluffy brown ash. If the cat is not working properly or often engaged it before it was warmed up and not active then end of season you will find crunchy creosote in the chimney. The steam is oddly just as satisfying as watching the fire.

      @tractorrookie lol sorry for nerding out on ya. Just wanted to share because it's satisfying how the stoves work and wanted to assure people that its working properly. Ive seen people comment on forums and see that wisp on their own stoves and think that their stove is smoking and not working properly.
      I have a regency HI500 that is a catalytic hybrid stove, and it's cool seeing it steam on cold days while running. Mine isn't as cool as yours though. I wish mine had a self start feature so I could leave the door shut on not get smoke in the house on cold starts.
      How dirty does your glass get?

    • @tractorrookie
      @tractorrookie  10 місяців тому

      @@CK-dt6nx 😅😜 No Worries! I am always happy to learn something new. With regard to the glass, I would say we have good days and bad days. It seems that the glass gets more smoky/ dirty when the we use certain wood, perhaps it’s the moisture content. Most days it will clean with a paper towel and glass cleaner, other days it’s vinegar and stove ash. Happy thanksgiving!🦃 🚜🇺🇸
