I found your channel and appreciate all your tips! I ran my own piano studio for many years, then took an extended break to be a homeschool mom for many years. Now that my kids are getting older, I want to drive back into teaching piano. I'm finding these tips helpful as I plan how to restart.

Great reminders for piano teachers and the way we've had to do business here too!

In my local teacher association, I’m the most expensive teacher(I’ve been told to lower it by some but I teach higher lever than some) and I’m always full with a waiting list. I’ve gotten better clients with my higher rate. I don’t even offer 30 munutes anymore unless if they come twice a week. Mostly it’s 45 minutes these days.

Yes to longer lessons! I would love to stop teaching 30-minute lessons altogether someday. Thanks for sharing!

@@TheTattooedPianoTeacher no problem! It was a big change for new students, and so far no problems!

Love these "how to run a studio" videos. As a cello teacher who has taught for over 12 years and feeling discouraged 😞 this video has been so helpful!

I love your answer to the question, "What if you don't feel premium/experienced enough?" Thanks for helping me to think about this differently. I got a late start with piano which affects my confidence. However, I've recently come to the conclusion that I can offer a great experience teaching beginners and then pass them along when the time comes. I've been taking lessons for 9 years, but it's a long (wonderful) journey!

Yes! I think there are a lot of piano teachers undervaluing themselves (myself included for many years). But, honestly, you have an advantage that some of us old folks who starting piano lessons millennia ago 😂 are missing...and that is an understanding and connection to the piano learning journey. The fact that you can remember your first years of lessons clearly is your superpower! Thanks for sharing your story 🩵
