I sure hope your Navy Dad was a better cook for his soldiers than what the Army has. Years ago we went to my son's graduation from boot camp and they 'treated' us with lunch. We had to walk the lunch line like regular soldiers which I thought was really cool until I saw the food! LOL! You couldn't tell one dish from the next in each steam tray behind the counter! Every dish looked like a different version of gray goop! And the taste was worse than how it looked! I thought, 'Oh my goodness! This is what they feed our soldiers who serve this country?' I'm telling you, we couldn't figure out what exactly we were eating! Please thank your dad for his service to our country! (I'm sure he was a better cook than what we saw!) My son must have gotten use to the food in the Army, he's already served for 20 years and soon will be retiring!

I've got an idea: Heat an all beef or kosher hot dog in water and steam a poppy seed bun. Put the hot dog in the bun, garnish with sweet relish, mustard, chopped onion, tomato slices, dill pickle wedge, and celery salt. Serve with a generous portion of french fries topped with melted cheese.
If the hotdog was fried until blackened, my husband would eat this in a heartbeat! Sounds good to me, too! :)

After watching, all i can say is....dang, I will be trying most of these hot dog recipes. Simple, fast and easy to make, seems to be very tasty treats for any time.. Probably a big hit with the kids and grand kids!!!!

Haha wow this is amazing. What I noticed is my dog always loves it when I do the things I like and relax, like when I game CoD or listen to some of my favourite bands like AC/DC, Delta Parole, Lifehouse it feel like my dog is rocking out to the music together with me. Being a dog owner is one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life, if you can give your dog the time he or she needs you will learn something new about your dog every day.

I like that last recipe...the Hot Dog Bread Ring. Don't know if my hubby will eat shredded hotdogs though...Lol...so I'm going to make this with cooked ground beef, American cheese, and diced-up onions instead of shredded hotdogs, ketchup, and mozz cheese. And if anyone wants ketchup, mayo, or salsa, they can just put some on their plate and then dunk their "slice" into it. Lol.
SO many dishes this can be turned into, too!!! Chicken Ring...Tuna Ring...Ham and Cheese Ring...etc!
That last dish was by far the weirdest way to cook a hot dog I have ever seen, surprised it came out like it did. Because of this video I got some new ideas for when my friends come over for a sports game.

i asked myself (and answered my own question, i think) - what kind of people think up things like this? my answer - people who like to play with their food. i don't think i would ever have thought to take the time to make bread dough, roll it out, and then cover it with ketchup and grated hot dog. never occurred to me to grate hot dogs. but the final product did look like something i would serve at a football party or some other gathering. i may not try many of them, but these recipes are pretty creative.
i ate so many hot dogs my senior year of college that i've never had much of a desire for them since then, just an occasional hot dog at costco. thanks to these possibly weird or nutty people at scrumdiddlyumptious, i have a newfound urge to have a hot dog or other sausage. but for me the star of this show was the hamburger rolled around cheese and wrapped in bacon, served in a hot dog roll. bacon cheeseburger is my absolute favorite food.
I incidentally watched this while eating a regular hot-dog. I've never looked at a hot dog with such disdain and disappointment.

I stepped up my hot dog game a few years ago but on rare occasion am left flat footed without ingredients (or something else to cook) and roll out regular hotdogs. On those occasions the wife looks at me the same way you are looking at that hot dog.

Recipes look great. Keep in mind, the potato spiraled around the hot dog was precooked. They didn't mention it in the video. Raw potatoes will not spiral being cut that wide.

Some great ideas for party snacks our kids love them
While I did find the recipes fascinating to watch as a video, these are clearly recipes for people with too much time on their hands. Unless it's some special occasion I'm pretty much heating up the hotdog, putting it in a bun with a few toppings, and keeping it moving lol

Technically the hot dogs you eat in America are not hot dogs,they're just shaped meat,a hot dog by definition is a frank furter,aka a smoked,seasoned sausage made of pork and beef. You want a hot dog,find a shop that sells actual hot dogs,you really won't be disappointed in trying a genuine frank furter
