    Hello! Thank you for the video :-) It worked perfectly until I upgraded to the latest version of ZBrush 2021. I can still create Dynamesh shells but can't choose the thickness anymore as it's not active. Also, all my attempts to hollow out my models failed because Zbrush crashed when I merged down the interior and the exterior before dynameshing. Any idea how I can get the thickness button active again and solve my problem, please?

    You have the exact same voice as the 'Ask Zbrush' guy, is that you?

    This is a really good tutorial, but i must admit i didn't understand one single thing. lol. I'll watch it again a few more times.

      Haha, I do tend to speed through things. It's aimed at an intermediate to advanced level of Zbrush experience.

    when i dynamesh the copy, i lose every group inside and i can't separate it from the outside...

    Thank you for your video! How can I close the holes on the sole of final subtool? I want to print it without any boolean holes.

      I guess the holes are needed becoz otherwise that will leave uncured resin inside the hollow space, although I’m not sure how will the uncured resin to affect the final product.

    I have Live Boolean turned on and I see the option to Make Boolean Mesh, but it's not combining the subtools together.
    What am I doing wrong?

      I have the same problem. Did you ever figure it out?

    It’s giving me a sub mesh insert error. “Creating a shell requires a sub-mesh insert which will then be used as the opening for the shell.
    Please insert a sub-mesh and try again.
    Action cancelled.”

      Im guessing whatever subtool you are using for your hollow opening isn't categorized as a Dynamesh sub tool. There are several ways to do this; within the subtool palette itself, in the polygroups menu. This video might be useful. pixologic.com/zclassroom/lesson/creating-a-shell-with-dynamesh

    why keep the holes at the bottom? I dont understand the whole suction thing.

      See the section on suction cups, it's explained fairly well. support.formlabs.com/s/article/Model-Orientation?language=en_US

    How did you invert the mesh?

      took me some time to find it, in case anyone still need, it is in the tool>display properties>flip

    If I already have a clean topology in my high res model, using these booleans will somehow damage my topology?

    • @MonsterCaesar
      @MonsterCaesar  6 років тому +1

      Yes live boolean will alter your topology. This method is used at the last stage to get a model hollow and ready for 3d printing. Here is some more info on live booleans. docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/modeling-basics/creating-meshes/live-boolean/

    How to maintain equal wall thickness when u hollow model using shell ??

    • @MonsterCaesar
      @MonsterCaesar  5 років тому +1

      The main reason I use the shell creates an even wall thickness built into the functioning of it.

    I'm sorry, didn't get it - what are the disadvantages of using the simplest hollowing method, shown here:
    ua-cam.com/video/hcKKP3N7NxU/v-deo.html ?
    At what stage the loss of detail you spoke about does occur? Thanks a lot!
