I’m in California and after watching your videos. I want to move to Texas . It seems like every little housing development has a pond . I’m super jealous. Central California lacks ponds 😢
I used to live in Euless, TX, but had to move back to South Africa in June. Recently found out there are some bodies of water here that hold some big ol Largies. As soon as I can get back on my feet and afford my rods n stuff (with having to move back, I was forced to give everything I had to a close friend).
So we here in the densely populated Southern California region have a ton of ponds just like this. Most have a crap ton of micro shad and a few have crawdads/crayfish. The vast majority of them are also concrete all the way around as well as the bottom. Most are dyed either this same blue or dark green, all have another grass! And in a lot of them since there isn’t much natural structure on the bottom the tend to just hug the bank quite often. I throw jigs a lot, A LOT, and it’s the most consistent lure. Everything else is a crap shoot!
The pond in my grandfather's 55+ community is exactly as your friend described. I've fish it for a good 15 years and for the longest time they never dyed it and I could catch quality fish in there with my biggest near 8lbs (this is in Florida). About 6-7 years ago, the park started dying it and I noticed the quality of fish start to decrease. I went there to fish a few weeks ago and caught 10-11 fish within my first 15-20 casts, but almost all of them were like 0.5 lbs to 1lb. I ended up catching like 25 bass that day with the biggest being like 1.5lbs.
Pond dye is commonly used to help mitigate some algae and plant issues. It does also negatively impact the base of the food chain, phytoplankton, so it is limits the productivity of your water. You can see the results in how underweight those bass were.
Yeah my father in law put some in his pond because they couldn't control the weeds (completely choking it out) and now we have the opposite problem. Pond is deader than a doornail.
I was actually wondering if you can help me with a retrieval that I can use for bladed jigs I love throwing a crankbait because of the burn pause method and the bait will somewhat stay suspended or float back up. We know bladed jigs will sink quickly what can I do to increase my bites with a retrieve that keeps me in the strike zone?
What would you recommend to throw when theres allot of blue gill and sun fish for the bass to eat in a pond, but the bass are scared of any lure and just swim to the bottom when they see it
Hello Tyler, so I’ve been watching your UA-cam videos for a good while now because I’ve been fishing for a long time but I’ve always struggled with knowing if I’m using the right combos . so as of right now, I have two bait casters. Both of them are on 7 foot medium heavy fast action rods. One of the bait casters is a 7.8:1 and the other is a 6.1:1. I mainly use the 7.8:1 for soft baits like worms and I also use it for jigs. I use the 6.1:1 for basically everything else like hard plastics. So really I just want to know if I’m using those two rods for the right thing or if maybe I need to switch it up and then I was also curious as to what kind of combo do you think I should purchase next? Also, both of my bait casters are on 15 pound mono.
Is the water always blue there? I'm wondering if the forage fish got a collective disease and died off so they added methylene blue as a disinfectant/anti-fungal. The pond is small enough that it's probably treated like a huge aquarium.
So what happens when they do that to a small Lake. Lake Temescal in Oakland California has a sign in which it says it dyes the water to stop photosynthesis to create less harmful algae🤷♂️.... hmmmm
Loved the video for the most part but I have to be honest… A little disappointed that you threw the miracle whip back on the ground. I practice and preach keeping all our waterways clean of debris. Even if that means I throw away others trash. Love the channel
How about a polarized lens on your chest go pro? (if that actually exists) I've seen very blue water in Jersey, and it is an algicide chemical added to the water. Harmless to fish... so I've been told. I watched it to the end now... not promising.
@@TylersReelFishing right but he kept them, we catch and release which is different. I’m probably just overthinking it. Right now I have a problem where I think everything is a sin for some reason
I can take you to a dozen man made ponds that were never stocked, yet they have fish in them. Several ways this happens, mainly birds but look into it.
Ever since I started watching your videos I can no longer say gosh normally lol love the videos!
Gawshhhhhhhh
Just recently got into fishing, your videos have given me so much knowledge and helped me catch my first fish . Thank you 🎉
This is my lifting motivation at the gym right now!!! Woooooo
Yes!! How cool to live in place with a pond like that a few steps from your apartment.
I’m glad you finally threw the glasses in 😂🤘🤘
They've been adding fish feeders to the blue concrete holes around here to keep the fish going.
Don't forget a bluegill colored spinnerbait. Those work great in ponds.
Young guy (14) and I HAVE seen the blue man group 😂 they were awesome

We do for the most part. I live a couple miles away from Tyler and there are probably 15 fishable ponds within a 5 mile radius
@@knightfishingyou don’t live near me. I don’t know you. 😂 jk jk. I know you mean the town.

Hey Tyler, come show me how to fish my neighborhood ponds in north Frisco!
Email them to me and I’ll come fish em! TylersReelFishing@gmail.com
What trailer are you using with your thunder cricket? It looks almost like a fluke.

Definitely a bummer when that happens!
I would have passed on that pond as well.

I've never had any luck with a chatter baits for some reason
Same
Ditto
Definitely the blue man group pond 😂
Is this a public pond? If so, where is it located in Dallas.

I use that stuff in my pond where i have two catfish that eat from my hand
Where are the best public ponds you’ve been to in Dallas And what are they called?
I’m super new to fishing and was wondering why you put your extra rod stuck down in the water like you do while you’re using the other one
Just so the lure hanging off the tip doesn't sit in the dirt

Damn how many of those jacked combos do you got ? They must be good I’m thinking of investing in one
I absolutely love em. If you get one, make sure you use my link in the video description!
@@TylersReelFishing thanks bro! I appreciate the help and the content I’m new to baitcasters all these videos help me a lot.
I have a blue pond just like that near me never tried to fish it shoot maybe there is bass in there
I have fished them before and you can’t beat a white fluke

It's usually done for vegetation control in residential ponds like that. People don't like to see "weeds".
How do you catch on heavy moss?

Should have thrown a chartreuse crankbait
100 ponds 101... LOL!

It does, but I just haven’t got one. I need to
I don’t understand how you guys catch fish from the bank.. I can not do it… have never caught fish from the bank!!
do you guys think fishing is a sin? Its probably a stupid question but i've been thinking about it for a while.
Read Matthew 4:19. Jesus was very pro fishing 😂
@@TylersReelFishing right but he kept them, we catch and release which is different. I’m probably just overthinking it. Right now I have a problem where I think everything is a sin for some reason
Tyler are all your clothes have a insert for a go pro? I wear one and the straps over the clothes kinda get in the way.
Why is the pond blue?
Blue dye to make it look better
He talks about it when he makes the call with the pond specialist at the end.
The blue dye is used to reduce the amount of algae that builds up in the water. It also is a treatment for bacteria prior to stocking with more fish
Really fake pond, placed fish why fish
What's your UA-cam channel?
Looking forward to watching your fishing videos. Thanks!
Every man made pond has had fish added. 🙄
