    I have a Bdc4 12 in a 3cuft box tuned to 32hz with a 4 inch aero port and it absolutely slaps hard af and sounds very very good. The bdc4 has an Fs in the mid 20's, if the designers were aiming for a spl sub, it wouldn't be that low, but sq subs are. And the Skar evl subs sound like shit compared to the Audiopipe bdc4, the quality of the bass output just sounds more deeper and cleaner. Whereas the skar sounds cheap and sloppy.

In the middle of building a custom box for them now. 11 cubic ft. Tuned to 36. On a APCLE30001.D. 2 ohms. Love my A.P. In reading the comment thread, it appears the same as all car audio sub videos...People praising one sub and trashing the other😳Its like back in Jr. High-school when depending on what brand of shoes you wore (Nike vs Adidas) determined who was cooler🤣 Yall stop it🖐🤣 If you dont have much money to throw at a car audio build then get what works in your budget and match it all up correctly 👍Almost ALL of these subwoofer companies are built from the same Chinese Buildhouses and are priced accordingly..You get what you pay for will almost always ring true 👍 I personally can only afford the Skar SDR 12's for now and feeding them the right amount of power...in the recommended enclosure..an EQ to clean the sound up a little...a 160 amp alternator to keep up the voltage at around 13.7 to 14 volts at full tilt...and for the money I spent....I have no complaints🤠The only ones complaining are the Karen's at a stop light when I turn it up😳😳😳😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠

      @@Timelinejumper Fs. This parameter is the free-air resonant frequency of a speaker. Simply stated, it is the point at which the weight of the moving parts of the speaker becomes balanced with the force of the speaker suspension when in motion. For sub bass its ideal to have a lower Fs if you want that lower bass feel, the higher the Fs the harder it is to achieve the lower bass notes, and the same goes for the opposite, the lower the Fs the harder for the woofer to hit the high notes. I like high notes that really go loud

    Honestly a sub is just a sub and only makes up 20% of the equation. Personally having a Skar in my collection as well as the bdc4 I feel that there are features that skar needs to seriously improve on with their subs and then there are features that Audiopipe needs to improve on but that Audiopipe having a 4 layer 3" solid copper voicecoil coated in the black 500° adhesive is a HUGE PLUS in my eyes unlike the copper clad aluminum on the skar!
    If you reference any type of audio equipment the enclosure is 50% of the audio reproduction, the amp is 30% and then the driver is the final 20%
    My point being, you can take a $1300 JL Audio W7 13.5 and stuff it in a crappy enclosure and use a crappy amp and get crappy sound. You could also use a high end amp, high end enclosure and a cheap $100 subwoofer and it sound better than that JL powered by a crappy amp and in a crappy enclosure!
    I just think skar is way overrated for what it is along with Sundown and a few others, like fads they'll fade and people will move on to the next best thing...
    I'm a numbers guy and if you compare numbers and specs to specs I feel the Audiopipe is the better buy "if you can feed it the power it needs and have the space for the box it needs" but if you're going with a cheap amp and cheap box get the Skar as it'll preform better!

    • @BudgetBassHead
      @BudgetBassHead  3 роки тому +2

      I don't understand your percentage ratios. Where does this analogy derive from? By the way, the coil on the BDC4 is not coated in a black adhesive. And the reason JL Audio has a $1,300 subwoofer is because a sub isn't just a sub. I do agree that both these companies could improve, that's part of this hobby; to influence them to improve. But could you clarify how Skar and Sundown could have, collectively, 25 years of operations; become '...like fads...'?

    • @goldeneagle7559
      @goldeneagle7559 3 роки тому

      @@BudgetBassHead
      I'll start with saying I love your videos and my comment was more about understanding that nearly any sub can sound good or bad depending on the amp and enclosure!
      But to clarify, both of my TXX-BDC4-15-D2's have solid copper wire 4 layer voicecoils that are coated in a black high temp adhesive as that's one of the first things I look at when I buy a sub. So if yours doesn't then it must have the BD4 coil but the high temp solid copper coil is one of the major upgrades from the BD4 to the BDC4. I can't explain why yours wouldn't have it otherwise.
      It's ok to question percentages but if you refer to Hoffmans Iron laws you'll start hearing the laws of percentages when combining components, these percentages fluctuate with components but the base is 50% enclosure, 30% amplifier/ electrical and 20% being the subwoofer itself. The enclosure you build is going to have the most impact on your drivers performance as well as the sound output you get and what you build for is what you're going to get. Being that a subwoofer operates within 20-100hz or 30-80hz for most builds there's really not much "sq" you can achieve from one sub to another in this tiny window and that is my point. The enclosure is where you get all your performance from and why your sub box should be built to your needs within the subs specs. I had noticed in your video that you put the skar in the same box as the Audiopipe and that will likely affect the performance as the skar calls for a smaller enclosure and the Audiopipe needs one a bit larger. But at least 70% of people watching that video aren't building/ buying custom made boxes for the subs they're running but rather a prefab that will have a result favoring the skar anyways!
      I'm glad you agree with me that both Audiopipe and Skar can improve as I'm not trying to argue but I see a problem with people flocking to Skar and Sundown. This to me is embracing a copycat society and personally I don't like it. I mean what happened to companies being original and making their own things. You see Kicker, Rockford, JL Audio, Alpine, Audiopipe and others as well as companies that are now gone using their own baskets, cones, motors and other components making their sub "their own" while Skar, Sundown, American Bass, Toro and other companies that all have their products made in the exact same build house over in China are literally using the same exact baskets, motors, surrounds, cones, ect. resulting in almost "copied subs with different logos". You see this on the Skar you compared to the Audiopipe where the Skar has two spacers between its generic basket and the motor "magnet" as well as the surround and cone both being on other companies subs. While Audiopipe is using a surround, dustcap and basket that's made specifically for them and won't be on other subs! My personal dislike for the Audiopipe is the set of somewhat weak plastic terminals it has but overall has my vote as the better sub just by being original...
      When I go to a audio meet and see a build with these copycat subwoofers I'm actually disgusted despite giving credit for a custom build though this is exactly why I now only own one Skar subwoofer and being it's a discontinued model that's rarely seen these days I keep it.
      I'd rather be the person that's disliked for being original than one of the copycats that has the exact same system 10 other guys have at the same meet! As it is right now I'm the only guy at my local meets running L7's with KXA amps in one of my builds and once I'm done I'll also be the only guy running a pair of 15" BDC4's in a custom made 5th order bass reflex horn enclosure.
