Yup all them questions and asking everything. You're the one who called me telling me ur shits broken 😂 I'd have packed my shit up and dipped out. These are the customers I'm glad to let go of.
Your a genius Steve. I've been watching for years. You give the best detailed step by step walk through before during and after your working on the unit. Your the best teacher out there bc your on site video footage is unbeatable. Your an inspiration to ppl like myself bc your knowledge and experience is incredible to watch and witness how fast and smart you are. Doing honest work for ppl in their time of need is a rare trait these days. I'm in the hvac trade and ty for you videos and time and help from all of us watching. We appreciate u.
As old as that thing is Steve is simple to work on. I fixed an exact same Utica last week pulled all the burners cleaned them, the gas valve was NG so I put a new milli volt valve power pile and new pilot burner and everything works great now
The old Uticas are great. Indestructible quality boilers. The steam ones with the millivolt gas valves will run in a power outage. Thermostat switches the 750mv circuit directly. This one looks in good shape, block doesn't look too corroded.
Probably had another technician there who didn't get asked all these questions and did unneccassary work for thousands of $ and then they had a discussion or even lawsuit afterwards... I don't think someone is this way without a reason...
It's ok to be curious. Or Maybe the guy has trust issues from a previous technician. Or he has a learning disability and doesn't understand what's going on and is concerned. Who knows? All are possibilities
Steve fixes the furnaces and actually cares about the people he works for. Looks out for them. No wonder his phone rings off the hook. Here it was just a loose screw someplace.
You definitely know what you're talking about. The powerpile system generates power (750 millivolts) through the pilot system to the gas valve. We used to service these "state of the art" systems in the early 60s and 70s.
Nickel and dime you for your experience. Nobody probably never seen this equipment. I worked on something like that and had no clue with the amount of wires on the gas valve. Nice work and I enjoy your videos.
Chances are the powerpile generator not getting enough heat from the pilot was the original problem and the wire could have gotten loose from when he was tapping on the gas valve.
Just a thought u should have taken a open millivolt read before you cleaned the pilot and power pile and after. Just to see if what u did accomplished anything thing. You could take a read under load with the valve coil closed too. A new power pile should create 750 milivolts new out of the box. This is the same on most gas fireplaces same problem.
Need the interactions, Steve. Need the customers. All part of why we watch…. We learn, but you wit is next level momma. Are there birds in the house? All that chirping.
I use stethescope, no heartbeat, I hit with Hammer! She lives for one minute. I was rolling. 😅 Time, labor, parts and material! Questions cost more! Nice fix. Old school boiler.
I got same boiler but a little newer 1969 how did you clean pilot assembly you never showed it.Mines 100k 2 burners and same gas valve I would of liked to see how you adjusted the pilot. Old Utica's where built well.
Isn't a red top gas valve pilot generator can a blue top 24 volts for the connection goes low voltage that's how I used to tell I didn't know you could tell what the switch on the aqua stack thanks for pointing that out I don't see many of them around this area
I used to have a hydrotherm boiler that was similar to this one with the powerpile. It was replaced 20 years ago with a modern boiler. I'm just curious how big the pilot has to be to make the generator work with full voltage and not prematurely cook the generator.
I was baffled by the talk of a generator then I seen what we would call in the UK a thermal couple once he mentioned about Milli volts being generated I knew what he was talking about great Video
Jeeze talk about dangerous. Many years back I experienced a very old gas valve that stuck open. I take no chances with a questionable gas appliance. In this case I am surprised that pilot even satisfied the Powerpile that flame was so weak.
you can tell the meltdown has begun, commenters have no patience, its his dollar and property, and like many of you, money is disappearing. steve should understand people, he's smart and funny and understands. good job steve.
Boy Steve. You have patience. After him asking how lond. You did not even diagnose the situation. How could you give a valid estimate. They called you to fix the problem. He should just let nyou do your job rathen ask so many questions that did not understand anyway. You are a very patient man!!
That Dr. is beyond a "Helicopter Type". He thinks he needs to conduct a flipping job interview upon Steve, before Steve is allowed do the work. I wonder how the Doc would react if the patient asked him: "Now how long is this going to take, and how much you gonna charge me?" Look at all of the millions that we send to Ukraine and this guy wants to nickel and dime Steven.
The wife of the guy was more sensible to get things going with steve servicing the boiler. Crazy the guy was hitting the boiler with a hammer handyman homeowner. Steve's given'er a little how u doin mama. Steve's got the touch.
If the doctor grew up in Ukraine he would be very wary of any service workman. Ukraine, mostly because of the insanely low wages there, there are many scammers, it's ridiculous. In Ukraine, unless you agree to a price before any work starts, most workman will tell you their bill amount is whatever they think you could pay. The confusion was a cultural thing, he grew up with everyone scamming everyone.
That was a great story about the 90 year old lady you just give her medicine ,don`t want to operate on her . Give some lipor ,no no no lipor He is doctor got to talk to him in Doctor language . Had me laughing so hard.
Bro I deal with multi millionaire customers all day long. The more money they got the cheaper they usually are. Then I go to an average blue collar customer and 9x outta 10 nvr say a word about prices and will throw me a $20 for lunch 😂
Great patience, which know I would not have had. This guy acts like he needs to be a boiler tech in 5 minutes before you work on it. Who cares how long if it’s done right, Guy?
Got to tell that Home owner thats a Dangerous thing to do hitting a gas valve with a hammer, Just think if it would of caused a fire or explosion, Especially if Natural gas. they got lucky that never happened.
The guy wanted to know exactly what Steve was gonna do….. he probably wanted to see if he could fix once Steve explained everything….So he won’t have to pay
The people with money usually are the cheapest, but that’s how they have money, but what I can’t stand is they all want a discount or rip off someone else to keep their money a poor person usually just pays the bill and doesn’t question, rich people always want a discount
He never said he was a doctor here in America. In Ukraine a fully qualified doctor or dentist probably earns around $500 or $600 per month, think about that. A university professor who perfectly writes in three languages and has 30 years experience is paid under $200 per month. The minimum wage in Ukraine is less than US$0.50 per hour, I've met people just earning $20/week for a strenuous job. And, it's always just "Ukraine, NOT "the Ukraine" unless you are trying to irritate them.
Good job Steve the old man seemed like he might be hard to get along with the wife real easy going when you're dealing with stuff that old we could be anything you know that like you say Steve start with the simple and move up take care
That's funny. My Grandma was Yugoslavian (she died at 92 y.o.), real simple, loving woman, She was the only Grandma I ever knew. Immigrant to here.. She used to say, "Pull the plug.". LOL Re: hammer...
Steve, you got the patience of a saint. I’m bursting blood vessels just listening to this guy!!
Yup all them questions and asking everything. You're the one who called me telling me ur shits broken 😂 I'd have packed my shit up and dipped out. These are the customers I'm glad to let go of.
The Dr is afraid Steve's going to charge to much , now that's fuc*&^ funny
I know right
Walk in the drs office for the whopping 10min you actually get to see him and you're paying big bucks
Your a genius Steve. I've been watching for years. You give the best detailed step by step walk through before during and after your working on the unit. Your the best teacher out there bc your on site video footage is unbeatable. Pretty sharp lady homeowner there. Good work as always, Steve.
That lady could talk to anyone I have no doubt. Very easy on the ears. Her husband is learning.
steve had to talk to him in doctor language lmaooo good stuff steve!!
Excellent job Steve, that baby is an antique.
The ole guy was trying to figure out how much you were going to charge him.
Time + materials, and you're running up the bill by wasting time.
As he should. Most other techs would take the thing apart in 15 minutes, then quote tens of thousands on replacement.
They were lucky you were feeling friendly. Can’t believe you didn’t walk out.
He's helping a damsel in distress!
I was getting leery after hearing the husband. Thought Steve was gonna walk away.
What's with all these questions? Move aside and let Steve do his thing.
Probably had another technician there who didn't get asked all these questions and did unneccassary work for thousands of $ and then they had a discussion or even lawsuit afterwards... I don't think someone is this way without a reason...
I'm good with the customer asking me questions, but please listen to the answer.
I think he just want to be told the price and what’s about to happen lol
It's ok to be curious. Or Maybe the guy has trust issues from a previous technician. Or he has a learning disability and doesn't understand what's going on and is concerned. Who knows? All are possibilities
A doctor with a hammer … oh crap!
neurologist 🙄🤣🤣
Steve fixes the furnaces and actually cares about the people he works for. Looks out for them. No wonder his phone rings off the hook. Here it was just a loose screw someplace.
The doctor wants to question the doctor ! Steve know his way around ... betcha he could be a doctor! Happy bird day steve!
The customer doctor was asking that age old question: How much??
A doctor worried about the bill, that’s why so many questions, I bet someone else said that thing is to old replace it
I don't blame him shits expensive nowadays. Steve is just a little too gungho for some of these older guys.
Ya gotta worry about all these people fkin ya over these days. Especially if you’re elderly.
Doctor is tighter than two coats of paint.
You definitely know what you're talking about. The powerpile system generates power (750 millivolts) through the pilot system to the gas valve. We used to service these "state of the art" systems in the early 60s and 70s.
Well done Steve
Nickel and dime you for your experience. Nobody probably never seen this equipment. I worked on something like that and had no clue with the amount of wires on the gas valve. Nice work and I enjoy your videos.
Quite common if you worked in the hvac industry in the last 20-30 years or more
Chances are the powerpile generator not getting enough heat from the pilot was the original problem and the wire could have gotten loose from when he was tapping on the gas valve.
i think steve was about 1 minute from hitting the highway after taking that grilling...
“Give it a little more how ya doin’” Love it!
Hey Steve, my 85 Dodge Aries K doesn't start could it be because the motor is missing?
Need the interactions, Steve. Need the customers. All part of why we watch…. We learn, but you wit is next level momma. Are there birds in the house? All that chirping.
I use stethescope, no heartbeat, I hit with Hammer! She lives for one minute. I was rolling. 😅
Time, labor, parts and material! Questions cost more!
Nice fix. Old school boiler.
Good one Steve! Wonder if all those swings with the hammer loosened that wire. Crazy!
I enjoy watching You and MS Molly doing videos.
Customer has trust issue that's for sure lol.
Good job Steve !
Damn Dr. Lavimoniere doesn't want to kill the old gal. lmao
Generator = Thermopile
Omg I’m surprised Steve didn’t tell him to F off lol
Wow you can hear the amount of gas that old beast is wasting!!
I thought Steve was gonna lay into that guy in the beginning. I was pleasantly surprised.
Under load full operation you need 100 millivolts or better at gas valve and your good to go.
Doctor asks, “Am I saying something wrong?” Response to that would be, “You’re saying everything wrong!”
Jeeze talk about dangerous. Many years back I experienced a very old gas valve that stuck open. I take no chances with a questionable gas appliance. In this case I am surprised that pilot even satisfied the Powerpile that flame was so weak.
@@Katana_00what I’m getting at, that customer was taking a big chance not calling Steve or some other qualified service company right away.
happy thanksgiving
1800 bucks is right around what we charge for a standard 40 gallon water heater. We put in Bradford white or lochinvar
Wow when you live NorthPole? 1800 i wish early retirement lol
Good job, but I would have checked the millivolts before and after cleaning the pilot and the generator
This guy is a chirper, too many questions guy.
Older than me, that's for sure so it's at least 33 years old or pre-1990. Steve cracking jokes too, so this was entertaining.
That unit will last forever if maintained
Doctor and an engineer. Chargem for question time.
Pull the flippin burners out and clean the damn pilot orifice
Steven, another good one 😂😂😂
The only problem with those old cast iron boilers the ropes start to dry out and leak then you can get carbon monoxide
you can tell the meltdown has begun, commenters have no patience, its his dollar and property, and like many of you, money is disappearing. steve should understand people, he's smart and funny and understands. good job steve.
guys over their beating the crap out of it with a hammer, then gets real sensitive about what steves going to do to it..😂
That why it kicked in when the old guy hit it 😂😂
Good work
Geesh that guy lol
Just let Steve do his work Geesh
Some "percussive maintenance" 😄
Boy Steve. You have patience. After him asking how lond. You did not even diagnose the situation. How could you give a valid estimate. They called you to fix the problem. He should just let nyou do your job rathen ask so many questions that did not understand anyway. You are a very patient man!!

Give her the ole' "How ya doin?"
The wife of the guy was more sensible to get things going with steve servicing the boiler. Crazy the guy was hitting the boiler with a hammer handyman homeowner. Steve's given'er a little how u doin mama. Steve's got the touch.
Sounds like the poor guy got a huge bill before without expecting it on a fixed income. And he’s got just enough to buy groceries or fix the furnace.
Stevie, i like U 2 meet a good friend of mine MC Hammer. "Can't touch this" He took this to a whole new Level.🚨🍺🍺
That guy needs to go sit down and let Steve do his job... wow
Percussive Maintenance bang bang
Couldn't resist the title.
My years at Pepsi gave a bad taste on foreigners. Always wanting something for nothing.
If the doctor grew up in Ukraine he would be very wary of any service workman. Ukraine, mostly because of the insanely low wages there, there are many scammers, it's ridiculous. I agree 100% always argue the price and want crap free
Corruption from the old Soviet Union and nothing really changed and now we are in on the scam.
Helicopter central
That was a great story about the 90 year old lady you just give her medicine ,don`t want to operate on her . Give some lipor ,no no no lipor He is doctor got to talk to him in Doctor language . Had me laughing so hard.
They got to learn the more they talk the longer it takes the more money they pay you.
Worked on many of those old beasts 👍
i could imagen what steve was thinking, :)
Howdy Steve and Molly
Intermittent operations are USUALLY caused by loose wires not BURNT wires... FWIW.
That guy was a pain in the ass! He wants to insure you do things right but he hits the burner with a hammer (doctor??).
She sounds so beautiful... respectfully submitted
The pilot needed a colonoscopy
DIY homeowners. Dont remember using a hammer in school 😊
Hello Steve!
He’s a doctor and worried about how much it’s going to cost😆😆😆…
Bro I deal with multi millionaire customers all day long. The more money they got the cheaper they usually are. Then I go to an average blue collar customer and 9x outta 10 nvr say a word about prices and will throw me a $20 for lunch 😂
New boiler time
3 minutes in and I'm ready to walk out the door
that connection would explain why it would work when he hit it.
They still got cast iron burners in there
Your quick wit with the Dr made my day
Just like visiting a doctor there is a minimum charge, then after you get the bill then you complain.
That's how it'll be sometimes. Loose as a goose wiring!
Great patience, which know I would not have had. This guy acts like he needs to be a boiler tech in 5 minutes before you work on it. Who cares how long if it’s done right, Guy?
Steve the Dinosaur doctor! Great job
i like the medical references.
Shouldn't all these old systems be tested for CO output into the house?
Yes…
What camera do you use in editing software
The wife is some sort of engineer but the doctor husband is on hammer duty. =)
Second that idiot started quizzing you I would have left.
That's what I do, grab my box and out the door
Got to tell that Home owner thats a Dangerous thing to do hitting a gas valve with a hammer, Just think if it would of caused a fire or explosion, Especially if Natural gas. they got lucky that never happened.
bahhhhhhh hhhaaahhhhhhaaaa i got to talk to him in dr talk lmfao
Pilot flame Looked like a candle before you cleaned it
The guy wanted to know exactly what Steve was gonna do….. he probably wanted to see if he could fix once Steve explained everything….So he won’t have to pay
The question I have is, what kind of a doctor has that piece of crap for a heating system?
The people with money usually are the cheapest, but that’s how they have money, but what I can’t stand is they all want a discount or rip off someone else to keep their money a poor person usually just pays the bill and doesn’t question, rich people always want a discount

Is she trying to keep a dinasour going, like it was new?
That's funny. My Grandma was Yugoslavian (she died at 92 y.o.), real simple, loving woman, She was the only Grandma I ever knew. Immigrant to here.. She used to say, "Pull the plug.". LOL Re: hammer...
