Next time you come across this try going to Settings->Equipment->Reconfigure equipment. This usually does the trick in case someone incidentally changes settings they shouldn’t.
We only sell and install Honeywell Th8320WF thermostats. Never had one fail and are good for everything 3 heat-2 cool conventional, heat pump and duel fuel And wifi capability.
A nice easy job Curtis, now the lady can keep nice n warm 👍 Au
I remember that look of relief on people's faces from 60 years ago when my dad was taking me around to help light folks floor furnaces. Really comfortable heat, and the hot furnace grate on the floor was really dangerous.
Nice clean house, compared to many you've dealt with. That's always a plus in terms of a job site.
Haven't installed an Ecobee in a while but I remembered that the 24v goes on RC.
Just want to say I’m new to the field and watch your videos to be better on diagnosing systems correct, but really hope you were able to see my previous comment and if you see an ecobee in the future with the same thing to look where you didn’t in this video, but do love the vids man !
If it was about the parameters, yes.
I installed two Ecobee in my home. One on a gas furnace and the other on a heat pump. Both worked great. Setup was easy.
Wondering was there another part that you had to add in the furnace ? It is in between the t-stat and the furnace wiring.
@@maintenanceman1015if no common is there I think there’s a lil module you use…(I believe)
@@maintenanceman1015 @Hvacnc is correct. The Ecobee thermostat does come with an adapter for for those installations that don't have a common wire. Mine had a common, so I didn't need it. One day I may crack it open to see how it works.
Any time I go to a service call and I see an ecobee or a nest tstat, that’s what I look at first.
Another great job Curtis getting the heat on thanks for the video
You bet
Excellent thermostat! Have had mine 3 years now, no issues
I've been just reusing the same old holes for the stats but that trick just poking out the other sides is genius !!
Thank you 😎 🤟
Nice job Curtis.
Thanks!
It's 15 thrusday morning here damn it's cold 😮
Next time check to see if compressor lockout temperatures are set low enough-I had one set to 35°F if the temp is lower than that, it will lock out the compressor
boy its cold here in north ga. this morning 17
I installed two Wi-Fi thermostats yesterday for a customer that couldn't figure it out because he didn't have a common wire. He opted for the cheapest way out so I stole the fan wire and put it on common.
Isn't the fan wire needed for the AC in the summer?
@@JAM_2024 no just the on function on the thermostat
Stealing fan wire eliminates the fan on function
@@dsmith8425 exactly and I explained this to the customer and he would rather give up the fan on function than pay for c wire adapters on two furnaces
Nice 😊
Nice work man 😊
Thanks 😁
Curtis, as you said "another happy customer"
Another excellent video 👍
Thanks again!
Love Ecobee thermostats . Have to be the best thermostat available. Only thermostat that allows you set run time thresholds and avoid rampant cycling like every Honeywell. That bee would be under warranty
Is that why they always burn up the relay inside when used for energizing the reversing valve on a heat pump, replaced soooo many of them they just don’t make the relay inside sturdy enough
@ I hate how Honeywell thermostats have some kind of pre programmed algorithm that will make them cycle multiple times an hour for some times less than 3mins per cycle . They are so hard on equipment. An Ecobee has equipment run time threasholds that can be set. For example: you set a threshold to make the ac condenser run for 15mins non stop regardless of if it over cools. You can also set a threshold to force it to stay off for a pre determined amount of time. On my opinion they really extend the life of equipment. Pretty awesome product developed in Canada by University students
Do you prefer to work on package units since it doesn't involve going in people's houses?
Hold up, Wait a minute, Something ain't right lol
50 degrees, she has it made. The water by my bed froze on top last night temp was 29 must be great having heat!
Not an Ecobee or Nest fan. They both work just fine until they don't. Too many premature fails.
Curtis, that old thermostat was good it just wasn't level...lol
It's 50 in my home right now, I'm freezing 🥶 my furnace won't come on 😢
👍👍👍
Not sure how anyone would sleep if it was 51-degrees inside. WOWsers. 🙏
Electric blanket is your friend
You sleep far better. Do it all the time. Three blankets.
I grew up in a house that had a pot belly stove in the living room as the only source of heat. In the back bedrooms it was always cold. Extra blankets and you would be nice and cozy. Studies have shown that we actually get better rest if the temperature is around 60°F.
45 indoor temp is too cold. Got to find that out first hand Feb 2021 in Texas. 3 days without power. I tried to work around house I just couldn't do it.
Ha! Try camping in the mountains, a tent and sleeping bag.
I had that issue before, all u had to do was factory reset the thermostat. But yeah make ur money selling a thermostat
Ice on your windshield isn't a daily thing? Im jealous lol
Curtis, if your thrilled with the novelty of having ice on your windshield, we can always swap homes for the next three months. But don't worry, I'll lend you my ice scraper.
No, I’m not thrilled about it
I like the old thermostats where you turn the clear part with the mark on it 😅.
The good ole dial stat
Honeywell T87. I believe that's what you like. They are round and mostly brownish or copperish colored with the clear plastic dial indicator. I'm 68 and still learning about the latest types of t-stats along with these multi stage units. My nephew is GM for a local HVAC company, they love replacing rather than repairing and the company is always busy and growing. Customers want the 10 year warranty so they install a new unit. The scrap yard gets a perfectly fine newish unit. The same goes for water heaters. People prefer the newest technology over the standard water heaters.
Why the use of so called smart thermostats 15:12
I did hvac for 4 years and we just had an ice storm and my furnace flame was surging bad turned out the gas meter was frozen and I called a local hvac company and they told me that gas pressures were set at the factory and don’t need any adjustments lol I didn’t answer when they called me back.
You want cold come up to Canada!
Nope, y’all can keep that. I like living in the South.
Couldn't you have jumpered Rc and Rh together?
it's jumped in the thermostat itself, you only hook to Rc on those.
the "lite" is the only one that has both terminals Rh and Rc, the others just have a single R.
It's always those fancy thermostats. Best thermostat is a basic one without batteries.
My $20 plain Jane digital thermostat has worked for over 12 years. Why people want these high tech, low quality thing just because they are pretty I will never know. Stick with what works, which is usually simple. Many of the old mercury or contact thermostats still in operation for over 40 years. Simple.
32 years on mine, works as good now as it did when installed.
My seven year old dumb thermostat hasn't once given me an issue.
You probably use a flip phone that you wear on your belt to.
@VaporheadATC Nope. I still carry a bag phone from 1990..... Geez. I'm just saying - more bells and whistles doesn't make a product better. You young ones don't understand that.
@@musicnerd72 I'm damn near 50 yrs old and have had no problem with smart thermostats, including ecobee.
@@VaporheadATC Good for you then. I'm almost 53. The older I get, I just want "simple but works".
Thx again. Give that ecobee the Ted Cook nest check.
You bet!
Canada cold???😂 nothing compared to my ex wife! That’s cold!🥶
Good job removing that eco bee, they always burn up the O terminal, the relay inside isn’t sturdy enough to handle energizing the reversing valve
it's likely from the large back EMF spike arcing the contact/chip when it opens.
What, no torpedo level? 😂😂😂
Those Ecobees are suspect! Good job.
Thanks
They are very good thermostats, just wasn't set up correctly
@ looked like it was but wasn’t reading the correct wire.
great video format , i love the uninterrupted diagnostics and fault finding including your thought process
Those T stats just don't seem to hold up. Nice job
Lost a few more Souls in St. Louis the past few nights because they were Heating with a Stove. 🤔👎
Opps spoke too soon
I didn't realize how painful it is to watch someone else put a thermostat on the wall. Not ur fault just felt like reaching through the screen and doing it myself, not a big fan of any wifi thermostats.
What's wrong with WiFi thermostats?
They are just a bit more complicated to troubleshoot sometimes, and to get to one setting takes forever
There’s nothing wrong with the Ecobee.
Stupid electronics. Simple thermostats are reliable. Keep that crap. Old school works.
Them ecobees are garbage, figured out mine was the reason for no cooling
I've never had any trouble with ecobee nest is definitely garbage though
Yeah people need to stop with those nest thermostats... I've had problems with them in the field and I tell people that they're not great, buggy.
If you insist on installing it don't be surprised if you have problems
Damn Ecobee
As soon as I saw that hockey puck there's your problemo.
I dont understand why people just cant live with simple. Those Nest stats are crap
Ecobee thermostats are garbage IMHO every time I see one kids getting chunked.
No drywall anchors? Also does everybody live in trashy houses in Georgia?
That’s a good one
I worked at a property in ga where you had to light the pilot light on the stove and the ac unit.
Since when do you need a computer science degree to operate a thermostat?😆
You need to go take an Ecobee class or 3. Damn Dude.
Well, your old governor Jimmy Carter said we needed to turn our thermostats down to 55 and wear sweaters to conserve energy. 😅
Nope, 65 on the thermostat, 55 on the highway 😉
man was nothing wrong with that t-stat. you just should have looked at the directions you can tell any wire to do anything in the settings but you just looked in the wrong places. the batteries probably went bad and they replaced them and lost the settings. Now they got a old t-stat instead of one that was better for that system
It looked like it was detecting a wire that wasn't connected.
@@pilotboba it's connected on the thermostat itself, RC to RH. no need to jumper on the base. the relay/chip for the reversing wire(O/B) is likely cooked and not sending power anymore. they're fairly well known to fail that way. probably cannot handle the large back EMF spike when it turns the relay off.
Y'all need to stop giving these a death sentence and learn how to set them up properly. Had nothing to do with the Rh wire as Rc will act as both if it was set up correctly.
He is killing me just watching this is hard
