- This mixed bag run wasn't really anything crazy but is the perfect showcase of how underrated A-Basin's blue trails are!
West Wall is pretty short, maybe like 4 seconds in the video, but is probably the steepest groomed run I have ever skied, even more than Downdraft or Double Dipper at Killington when they get the occasional treatment. It's like straight up groomed Ovation or Outer Limits. Still not that bad considering the length but crazy to think about.
Ramrod isn't super tough either, but it's a pretty long mogul run that probably catches a lot of beginners off-guard. It's pretty indistinguishable from High Noon (the actual easier way down) from the top until you get a nasty (or fun!) surprise waiting for you at the first drop. Once again not that bad but both of these trails could easily pass as a Diamond at other resorts, and honestly here too.
These apparently aren't even the hardest blues on the mountain either, Loafer is harder from its sheer length, and Davis is probably about the same though I haven't skied it yet.
Advice: Beyond being pretty hard for their ratings, there isn't much to know before hitting these - you can get a lot of speed off West Wall, so if you're planning on more or less straightlining it then be cautious about other skier traffic merging from the right.
Overall Difficulty: 5/10
Relative Difficulty (West Wall, Blue): 9/10
Relative Difficulty (Ramrod, Blue): 9/10
Accessibility Rating: 8/10 (West Wall can surprisingly be reached from any upper-mountain lift or Pali!)
Open Trail Index: N/A (No idea, probably opens pretty early)
Enjoyment Rating: 9/10 (Very nice although Ramrod was a bit icy)
