Saudi Arabia's Upcoming $1,000,000,000 Six Flags Park - Six Flags Qiddiya

- Qiddiya is one of those projects that wouldn’t look out of place as the backdrop to a science fiction film. A tourism megaproject three times larger than Walt Disney World that is intended to disrupt not just the Middle East, but the world, and at the centre of it all… is a Six Flags theme park soon to be home to the world's tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster - Falcon's Flight.

i feel there are always these mega projects that come into plans and they neverrrrr come to be.
Have you paid any attention to Saudi Arabia? Pretty much EVERY mega project that has been planned has been accomplished.
@@RavenGlenn Except for Jeddah Tower... one of the biggest mistakes in construction history
they already started on the line
Saudi goverment made project always get complete. Jeddah tower was being built by waleed bin talal (not a government official).
@@Ahmad-nl1by Doesn't matter, he is not talking about government or private firms. As long as it is developed on Saudi borders, it is considered as Saudi Arabia. What you are talking about are stakeholders, a different concept.
A billion dollars for a brand new theme park is a absolute steal.
easy with slave labor 😉
Prolly because they ship in people from Asia under false pretenses, take their passports and use them as disposable slave labour.
Disney spent that on Galaxy’s Edge.
Or simply proof that it will suck
no wonder, they pay people peanuts. slave labour id say
“It’s unlikely to be a future Defunctland video”
Yeah, because 9/10 times the things he talked about actually get built and open before going defunct lol
I have zero faith in this thing opening, but I’m not so invested that I’ll feel “I told you so”-ed if I’m wrong
it willl
@@handledav maybe but there will be a defunct video about it, just like every other major project the saudis launder their money through.
Ur believe reflect ur fait only not us.
It will,i know ;)
All going well
How can this only cost 1 Billion dollars? Disney just opened a single ride costing 500 million.
Because you have to pay construction workers in the USA.
Jasmine's Flying Carpets at Tokyo Disney Seas was $25 Million
Cause six flags rides are cheap? Lol
Parking lots don’t cost a lot of money.
@@joseolvera4467 Cause Everything at Disney is overpriced. Disney Studios in Paris was $450 Million Dollars. That was more than WB Movie World in Madrid that opened the same year.
Saudi Arabia has far too many ridiculously ambitious projects that will not see completion and this is likely one of them.
true
Six Flags is already under construction though
Like what? They built the tallest building and that manmade leaf shaped island… what projects have they not completed?
@@TrixieMatteI that's 2% of what they wanted to do, and one of those leaf islands were abandoned...

Just wait for the Crown Prince's Divine Intervention. He's obsessed in keeping lines straight 24/7 more than an autistic child.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
Even then, I wouldn’t be surprised if the park doesn’t last more than a couple seasons before closing or being sold off. There have been so many of these mega projects that have never opened. I honestly don’t know why they keep trying.
No there hasn't, There is only the jeddah tower (a private firm's project) that got halted due to the arrest of the previous owner of the jeddah tower and the corona pandamic and got bought by the saudi government. Yall onoy know the failed and halted projects because you just look for the failures.
Cant wait for falcons flight to break down every 2 weeks 😂😂😂😂
You forgot to mention Public Execution Corner and the always exciting Valley of the Depressed (Women Only). Let these clowns burn through their money.
They may be able to get a World Cup host, but no way anyone would go to this in any meaningful amount. I hope it crashes and burns, fuck those theocratic shits.
@Adam Alqahtani No, I'm not from the EU. I also don't hate Muslims, Arabs, or Islam, or any peoples at all for that matter. I hate the UAE's government and I hate any religion that causes infringement on the rights of others.
I was raised Christian and recently deconstructed and learned how much of a negative impact religion had on my mental health.
With Islam and the UAE people's lives are ruined, taken, and oppressed constantly and its sickening.
I mentioned in another thread that I don't have an issue with Islam itself as it has been integrated into most societies fine and I've known some great muslims. The issue is what is happening in the US right now and what has happened in the Middle East and Saudi Arabia for most of history. Religion is influencing laws and oppressing people and that is unacceptable, at least the US is still free religiously even with its issues, buy in the Middle East, UAE, etc. there is no freedom like that and they have dozens of documented human rights abuses beyond Islam, too. Just look at the Qatar World Cup issues.
@Adam Alqahtani I never said the west doesn't have its issues, actually I explicitly stated it has its issues.
The difference is in the West, even with our issues, we still have freedom to practice any religion, or not any religion, we want. I can explore my sexuality, my kinks, etc. I can be free to express myself without fear of being killed. I can walk with my girlfriend on a hike and she can wear whatever she wants. We can book a hotel room and keep our private life private.
These are just the small things. We also won't get killed, beaten, or stoned for living how we want and she doesn't have to cover herself if she doesn't want to.
These are still small freedoms that the Middle East has taken from everyone. It is undeniable, Sharia law is a plague on humanity.
@Adam Alqahtani I certainly do not hate Muslims. In fact, the Saudi people are the ones who are being hurt the hardest by this. Entire neighborhoods razed. Women restricted. LGBT citizens living in fear. They deserve more than the oppressive government they live under.
I will be shocked if we start seeing Falcon’s Flight being built in two years
It’s probably gonna be breaking down every 2 weeks 😂😂😂😂
it will
It might. But not the version advertised.
@@Jacob-Simonsenit’s probably gonna be build in like 7 years but it’s just going to be an SLC
A billion, yet they still get a Vekoma SLC?
DEAD
I thought the old 90’s style was improved upon and the newer ones are better. Or they have a new name, new shoulder harnesses, etc. They’re not SLCs anymore but rather the new and improved ones are STCs, or suspended thrill coasters?
That is a STC or SFC, the newer, better version of the SLC
family suspended
What about dust storms? Wouldn’t that do a lot of damage to rides and infrastructure there?
Falcons Flight is such a ridiculous coaster I still find it hard to believe it could look like this

We’re living in 2024 my guy
I wonder how many people will die building this entertainment complex, all for the sake of rich people having a good time.
I was just researching this the other day... Its hard to get any updates or new information as far as construction of the park goes. The parks website hasn't been updated in upwards of 2-3 years, I'm really interested to see if this gets canceled just like Dubai land. Hoping it opens up some day

Bye
Believe me Saudi Arabia doesn't care
Honestly I hope this never really becomes a thing…seeing as how it’s in one of the worst possible places to put a mega theme park…the majority of people will never be able to enjoy this place.
@Adam Alqahtani ok….that doesn’t change the fact that the climate in Saudi Arabia is terrible….and outsiders and women and people of alternative lifestyles are not welcome nor are they treated with the same level of respect as men.
@Adam Alqahtani I agree with you that not all people are bad. There are many good people. The problem is in LEADERSHIP. If they make the rules and those rules infringe upon different races and backgrounds and gender, that is problematic. It is much easier for you to go to Europe than it would be for my wife to come to your country. So while I’m sure you are a good person, the rules of your country make it much harder for outsiders to visit for vacation.
@@Cheezbat Not to mention if me and my girlfriend wanted to go we'd have to book separate rooms and this particular location is worse about requiring proof of marriage before allowing you to book the same room.
And don't even get me started their treatment of people beyond that shit. I will never go to the UAE until things have changed and I think a lot of people, especially those from further away than Europe, agree.. especially women and LGBTQ people.

The odds of this coming to fruition have to be tiny, but its still pretty cool to see a Six Flags Park finally dive into thematic immersiveness
Falcon's Flight could easily have LSMs launching it on that insanely long uphill section like maverick's launched lifthill but the pov just doesn't show LSMs. A lot of animated pov's don't show the LSM fins in their animations. Afterall it appears that it will launch downhill into that tunnel
What's for lunch and dinner? Scorched humans?
Another Saudi plan that is never going to happen. They've got a reputation for making up outrageous plans that sound great in concept but are overly ambitious and lack investors. The renders for the coaster that is supposedly coming are ridiculous and don't even appear real. And lets face it, even if this were to be built I highly doubt people would travel to Saudi Arabia for just this theme park.
Well if got some brain cells U’ll know that’s a drop of water when compared to the hundreds of the “EU” failed projects in the last decade alone…

@@TrixieMatteI that was the UAE, not Saudi Arabia
If they build a 500 foot tall 150mph coaster, you can bet your ass people will travel there. There are a lot of coaster fans out there that travel the world to ride the best coasters.
There's something uncanny about seeing a Six Flags park with no IP or cheap brand tie-ins
Then all of a sudden before opening they announce a park name change…
“Coca-cola presents Six Flags Qaddiya feat. M&Ms in association with Hebrew National”
No offense, but tbh im tired of Saudi Arabia announcing new projects constantly that probably will never be completed. Take the Jeddah tower and 'the line' for example. Both of them were futuristic, big, bold, and expensive, but both of them are either too absurd to be actually completed, or have had their construction put on hold. I just don't like it when you get the initial surge of excitement, only to be disappointed of its cancellation.
They started building NEOM
I hope it opens just for falcons flight but they is a graveyard of past UAE theme parks that never got built

This is such a restrictive culture, how do they think they can draw from the world the crowds necessary to make it viable. @@buhddabaker Six Flags is on a downwards spiral thanks to a terrible decision by their new CEO making one of the greatest chains for thrill rides and saying that they want to be more family oriented. Cedar Point have been doing much better despite having less parks. The issue is if Six Flags continue eventually smaller parks may be sold to compensate for the failings of a CEO that doesn't understand what his franchise is about.
@@runnerman1424 I wouldn't say cedar fair is doing much better at all. And the CEO is making somewhat smart decisions. What he is trying to do is getting the park to be slower so he rebuilds then and so he has a better audience instead of immature children. The CEO planned this. It's not something out of the blue
I don’t care if they have a Tuscany recreation in that desert, I would never travel there.

It is a shame they could not do this with Disney or Universal (for the IP). I guess with that kinda $$ you can buy IP, I imagine if Saudi prince is paying for this, he is calling most of the shots, not Six Flags. The Intamin coaster will be great, with the multiple launches going into giant drops, it should have a bit of a Velocicoaster feel to it, which is my favorite coaster in Orlando. That POV video is cheesy though, it obviously won't be that. I want to see what that thing looks like when they are ready to build it.

Eh, unless your Middle Eastern, I don’t see the majority of North Americans, East Asians, Latin Americans, and even Europeans visiting Saudi Arabia at all. Mainly due to their archaic human rights laws and safety of being in that country.
East Asians and Latin Americans respect other cultures unlike Europeans and North Americans who think they are superior
Six Flags will be bankrupt before this is completed.

Falcons fury alone would cost $100 million…not sure how this whole park only is 1 billion
In a desert. It's in a desert.
So wait- Prince bin Bone-Saw is building This plus his mile wide 200 mile long city wall thing?
I say to Six Flags, good luck! Because of their history and tract record with the US and how the parks are run here, I'm generally an optimist, but this will be a failure. By this years personal experience alone with Six Flags, I'm done with them. Over price gouging on admission and parking into parks for one day (+$100.00) which fails in comparison to park quality value. No new rides of substance. Carnival or kiddie rides that have been done at numerous parks before. The current CEO at Six Flags has stated before, that he wants to model the company as a Disney tier park with Disney type prices. I thought the CEO was doing this so Six Flags could be bought out cheap to investors so he could get a nice severance package. Now it makes since. He's charging the higher prices and in return, offering no value or incentives. Instead of focusing on US parks with major new rides, they'll be using the money to help fund Qiddiya. Putting all their eggs in one basket. Not a smart move. Smart move would've been with Cedar Fair amusement parks in my opinion. Just mentioning the name of Cedar Fair, people in the US recognize as a great amusement park and those around the world, including I, would want to travel there.
I would have to agree that the quality of Six Flags has declined significantly.
oh great another dubailand
Looks like Thrillville 😂
Unless you build all this on RCT or Planet Coaster, none of it will EVER happen! Lmao.
they definitely got the money to build all these ambitious projects which are approved by the seniors so am pretty certain things will come to live , would be a good place to explore. Neom is under construction
and what is the average daily temperature in that part of Saudi Arabia all year round? my guess is that it is north of 30.C most months of the year... making a park seem like an inhospitable prospect
Currently it's 12° C in Riyadh where they will build this
I have an odd question but have you ever thought of doing the water park in North Korea? Genuinely curious!!
$1 billion seems extremely low for a theme park of this size... maybe $10 billion.
I am hoping that this doesn't get built. The idea of a coaster that breaks three desirable records seems both like a horrible experience but also a way of making the 'journey' of experiencing crazy and outlandish forces irrelevant - as you could just ride Falcon's Flight and experience it all...

Ignore the oddly very aggressive supporters of the UAE in these comments calling truth "propaganda.." literally. Those countries are a hell-hole and that religion has fucked the Middle East up.
I have no issue with Islam itself as in most of the world it has been integrated fine into society; but the UAE and Middle East have royally fucked their citizens and their country over and people still defend it for some Allah-damn reason.
But ya, ignore the supporters, you hit the nail on the head. It'll be impossible for basically anyone to visit and have a good time unless you're a Muslim man or married couple, and even then you'd have to be ok with Muslim laws in the first place.

I'll believe it when I see it. I was pretty surprised to see, though, that the park actually broke ground although I am, and will be, highly disappointed if they keep that "Iron Rattler" name for the Vekoma tilt coaster as it'll no longer make the OG at Fiesta Texas feel as unique. Leave it up to Six Flags though to recycle the hell out of their ride names.
