Samsung codecs were good as well. Exynos is trash but their codecs are very good, even more compared to SD gen . The S21 codec would have done wonders for this camera
I had been hoping for an improvement in low light video on a Samsung flagship for some time now and the S23 Ultra has it nailed at last. Brilliant camera system overall on a truly excellent device. Just ordered my 512Gb S23 Ultra in green 30 minutes ago. Great video as always Danny. You are one of the few reviewers I really trust to be unbiased and thorough and cover all the bases.👍
@@amrudinavdic9925 You were right Amrudin, I most certainly do NOT regret my purchase. The video quality in low light is even BETTER on the device for real. Incredible phone in every way!..😛😛👍👍
As a Samsung & Android user for so many years, I have to say that there is no better phone than Galaxy for taking Landscape Photos and Zoom photos. Anyway, S23 Ultra is the most "complete" smartphone for everything. Lots of additional customizable features and insane camera with vibrant colors. Samsung improved their portrait shots a lot. I have to mention that. But, when it comes to portrait shots and videos, the iPhone is insane. No other phone can match that quality, especially for portraits. In my opinion not even S23 Ultra. I mean, that depth looks so natural. It beats even some of the high end DSLR cameras. These new iPhones improved a lot since these famous 11 series. I have to give credit to Apple for that. However, my personal opinion is that no phone in this world is worth more than 800€. The pricings went insane during the past years. 1000€-1500€ for flagship is way too much. For that money you can buy DSLR, decent smartphone and TV. 🤣
S23 Ultra offers realistic images, are almost the same as human eye see with a lot of details as well. Great evolution for Samsung and happy to see they renounced to oversaturate as in previous versions.
For me, I just bought the OnePlus 11. It is 900€ here in Germany. The S23 Ultra 1.400€, the iPhone 14 Pro Max 1.345€ (always the 256GB variants). It is enough to keep up with Incredibly expensive computer hardware, I will pay a lot for a phone, but paying 1,5 times for a slightly better cam, but a lot more bloatware or a system I am unfamiliar with (iOS), is no way I will go.
Thank you for the very fair camera comparison. I still think that the lens flares of the iPhone are just a deal breaker. Even if you wanted, you could not clean them up in post, besides the fact that most people don’t want to edit videos. All other differences in the night shots are negligible, but the lens flares just ruin every single video clip on iPhones. As someone that does not edit videos taken with the family and for private usage (time is money), I also consider the missing pause button and the lack of the possibility of switching between front and rear cameras while recording videos as major deal breakers. If I may to give feedback regarding testing: if the outcome is so close in many areas, the overall result should depend only on deal breakers and major issues. It would be great if you could also do full camera system comparisons. Why not also testing the additional features? The differences of the standard features are not so big to be decisive. But the Pro Video or Expert raw are features that make the difference for camera enthusiasts. Let alone that new magical Astro-Photography/Videography on S23 Ultra.
Danny, I such love your contents, you dedicate your time, travel around just to make us see how technology has evolved in these smartphone cameras! Great job bro!
I have the iPhone 14 Pro but think the Samsung gets the slight edge unless you take a lot of videos. I wouldn't pick one over the other for just camera alone as they are similar enough but based off features & ecosystem.
I like the iPhone 14 Pro. For me the best overall package. The Max Medelle of the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy Ultra are too big for me. The iPhone 14 Pro is the best of handiness, good hardware and software 👍🏼
S23 ultra is the phone to beat until Iphone 15 pro max releases with periscope lens, after that S24 ultra is the phone to beat with Gen 3 / Exynos 2400 and upgraded periscope lens, rinse, repeat in '24 '25 '26 and so on

I prefer S23U and its the first time i pick it over the iPhone for videos. 13pm was clearly better than the S22U in video. And previous iphone models. But this year for me no. Again i have both
You always say the iphone has the most accurate colors and i couldnt disagree more. I have a 14 pro max adn every time it fucks up the colors, i have to tweak every picture. I cant even sustain proper exposure cause it decides later that more or less was needed. That AI is really bugging me and in the end the picture just looks worse than in the viewfinder.
It’s in that scenario that I am talking about. In general the iPhone does have the most accurate colors out of the 3 phones at night. If you don’t compare you don’t know what your phone is actually doing. I know most people don’t have more than 1 phone so that is what makes my job so difficult. I get hammered constantly about being “bias” amongst other things but this is how I see it after taking 150+ pictures. I don’t say them just to say them.
In my country Oneplus 11 costs almost half than Samsung or Iphone, and has top components and ultra fast charging. I already own a Oneplus phone ( 7 pro ) and I know that is top quality with great software and durability, so for me...I have a clear winner.
High quality comparison review as expected from Danny! Btw, impressed how the iPhone 14PM photos look bad next to the Galaxy S23 ultra: weird white balance, extra contrasty and that damn annoying oversharpening that makes photos of foliage useless. Apple has been putting so much effort into Macbooks and thought they were so much ahead in the iPhone and got lazy. Samsung caught up well this year and it will only get better. Glad to see that happening. I’ve been looking for an Android to replace my 13PM, because the iPhone is annoying me in so many ways…
Apple wants you to pay to keep their bloated non-innovated company alive. They are losing their rears and keep making the same junk and charging everyone.
Well it is way cheaper than the other 2 in this test so a better comparison would be s23/s23+ no wonder it looses in a lot of the tests they cant use ultra flagship level cameras in a phone that cheap so they did have to settle on lower spec cameras
True but in true Android/Samsung fashion give it a few months and it will go on sale. Or take advantage of the promotions in the beginning. The iPhone is the one that stays pretty constant in pricing throughout its life cycle
Expensive ? It literally offers more than any phone in the market right now. Multiple cameras, zoom lenses, spen etc. It definitely offers more than iPhone.
WHAT ? s23 ultra cost exacly (in EU less than) 14 pro, iphone doesn't have: pen, 6,7' screeen, 10x zoom. in apple to have 6,7' you have to pay much more !
If Samsung considered expensive, iphone is basically over priced. Besides better video for iphone, nothing else. No S pen, can't multi task(Split screen)and many more other features.
Thank you Danny, for your very good comparison of the three flag ship mobiles available right now on the market! Your side-by-side comparison is truly well done and I was exactly looking for this kind of review to find out my personal favorite that for me will be the new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I need the 10x optical zoom and it is a bonus with the 200 megapixel sensor. Also the macro is nice to have now! A very big THANK to you, sir! Excellent review! Now subscribing and of course giving you thumbs up! Best regards from Sweden! Take care!
Considering that both S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 pro max cost almost double as that of OnePlus 11, I'd rate OnePlus as the best value for money..the difference between the cameras is just a tad bit..
Your camera comparisons are among the bests without a shred of doubt. As for the comparisons, I think the 14PM is still the better and consistent shooter. The S23U has the most potential to be on par with next gen iPhones.
@@dannywinget Really thank you for doing all these tiresome but wonderful works. It is our pleasure and we are happy to get the idea and knowledge regarding these smartphones.
I definitely agree with this one having owned a lot of samsung flagships and iphones. Iphones are more consistent, and you can rely that it will take a good/ok photo in almost every single situation, whereas samsung’s might sometimes do something weird with colors/hue/brightness/wb. That being said, new samsung s23 ultra can take better photos than the 14p (I’m currently using a 14pm) but it’s just not as consistent.
What exactly do we want from a phone camera or normal camera??which camera setup is best ?? I am very much in doubt.is it a zoom?natural or a bit vibrant?smoother or sharper?a bit darker or brighter?so i think nothing can be the best..

Great video, Danny, but a lot of the slight differences you were pointing out I really didn't see a difference. For the money, Oneplus has my vote as it is seriously close and sometimes better than the other two.
Not everybody wants daytime in night photos. You also missed where the iPhone was brighter in the extreme night mode test. Seriously they are all good and no reason to side with just one company.
Man the whole time I just kept thinking, ALL THESE LOOK SO GOOD! for me the camera isn't a big enough difference to sway a buying decision, there used to be a much bigger gap in Phone cameras.
As someone that has an s20 Ultra, I realize the jump to a s23 Ultra would be significant. But, would I be better served to wait for the s24, as the difference between the s22 and s23 are minimal? Stands to reason the s24 will be a signifcant/measureable jump from the s23, no? I'd like to upgrade my s20 Ultra but I'm willing to hold off for another year if the s24 will be a lot better than the s23.
I think OnePlus should be appreciated because we are comparing this half prized phone with the two beasts out there. Oneplus stunning performance though not perfect but still it is capable to be compared with these beasts. Kudos to OnePlus this time for their comeback!

As for which one I personally like, it's definitely the S23U! It's just a very fun camera to use! Think of scenario and you literally have a mode/setting for it! Just incredible!
Night or day, a portrait or landscape, a photo or video, I always prefer zoom while capturing, the pixel details after capturing and every small moment/action in the scene at the time of capture... for me S23 Ultra is the Beast.

Samsung codecs were good as well. Exynos is trash but their codecs are very good, even more compared to SD gen . The S21 codec would have done wonders for this camera
14 pro max takes he cake for me ❤. Amusing how Samsung focused on video recording in the event 😂. I was like just grab an iPhone dude
Samsung literally has sharper videos and pictures. The iPhone is the worst out of these 3 in terms of camera.
actually im confused. i've been using PM13 fow 13 months but i miss my s-pen. What do you think about this? Is it worth to change to s23u?
I had been hoping for an improvement in low light video on a Samsung flagship for some time now and the S23 Ultra has it nailed at last. Brilliant camera system overall on a truly excellent device. Just ordered my 512Gb S23 Ultra in green 30 minutes ago. Great video as always Danny. You are one of the few reviewers I really trust to be unbiased and thorough and cover all the bases.👍
You won't regret it!!
I got mine last week and I love it 😁
@@amrudinavdic9925 You were right Amrudin, I most certainly do NOT regret my purchase.
I prefer the S23 Ultra, Thanks Danny!
It's Samsung or nothing!
Really love the way you do the camera test comparisons! Man smartphone cameras just seem great in general nowadays!
Danny, I such love your contents, you dedicate your time, travel around just to make us see how technology has evolved in these smartphone cameras!
Great job bro!
I just got the S23 and upgraded from S22 and well worth the upgrade. Your review is great and confirming that.
Personally I liked Samsung S23 Camera the most. Selfies are on another level. 😍 way to go
I enjoyed your video. Have you done a comparison between s23 ultra and pixel 7pro? Then I can make up my mind. Thanks.
oneplus 11 looks good for that price range
Which one is the best . tks
Les meilleurs tests comparatifs 💪 j'attends toujours tes vidéos pour me faire une idée. Great job thanks
One Plus 11 win at the front camera video round and pretty close to others at other rounds
S23 ultra is the phone to beat until Iphone 15 pro max releases with periscope lens, after that S24 ultra is the phone to beat with Gen 3 / Exynos 2400 and upgraded periscope lens, rinse, repeat in '24 '25 '26 and so on
There’s a good chance that periscope isn’t coming to iPhone 15
@@allenmobley8444 it's coming to 15 and 16 pro max only, not on regular Pro and not on normal ones
Very informative and you by far have the best comparisons I have seen not just someone showing paper results. Ordered the S23 Ultra and should be here tomorrow, #superstoked
Samsungs night video looks really impressive. Iphone level except for maybe the noise difference in much darker areas. Detail wise they look similar which is really nice to see
iPhone lacked details though because of niose reduction
@@icentuche90 dude we both know samsung can never defeat apple when it comes to videos. Even in photos I will call it a draw. Samsung has some amazing shots no doubt but they keep going back and forth.
@@UtkarshSingh-uk6ey you opinion and mindset of old. I own both and i see the difference on both in videos. I prefer S23U and its the first time i pick it over the iPhone for videos. 13pm was clearly better than the S22U in video. And previous iphone models. But this year for me no. Again i have both
Thank you Mr DannyWinget
Which do you recommend ?
The night mode photos on the iPhone here are pulling so green but no comment was made on it.
*Test S23 Ultra vs Vivo x90 Pro Plus*
Staying with my iPhone 14 Pro Max... hands down the best!!!
The iphone remains King
GALAXY S23 ULTRA
or Fold 5
You gained easily one new subscriber, very professional comparison, so far my favorite.
OnePlus camera is so underrated, just hope that they could actually pick up OxygenOS and not settle with the camera lens..
Well it is way cheaper than the other 2 in this test so a better comparison would be s23/s23+ no wonder it looses in a lot of the tests they cant use ultra flagship level cameras in a phone that cheap so they did have to settle on lower spec cameras
I always wait for your reviews Danny
The only problem with Samsung is that it's too expensive for what it offers otherwise it is the best phone out of the bunch
It's definitely not.
It's the best overall smartphone you can buy right now
Good work. Sorry with the s23 ultra you are on vivid or natural mode?
Great video!!!
IPhone keep the 1st place in photo and video mode.
But, for the price, OnePlus 11 gives really good photo, especially in Night mode.
I thought so too.
Big support for the channel and keep on making awesome content and guides and giveaways in the future as well. Worked for me
Thank you Danny, for your very good comparison of the three flag ship mobiles available right now on the market! The inside of S23 Ultra has some important benefits when it comes to the battery longevity also! You get a very complete mobile phone when you choose the newest Samsung flagship! A very big THANK to you, sir! Excellent review! Now subscribing and of course giving you thumbs up! Best regards from Sweden! Take care!
8:59. That is an incredible photo coming out of the galaxy
had to be compared with Vivo X90 Pro Plus
The best night stabilization seems to be the S23Ultra. iPhone shakes and light blur is annoying.
Me watching S23 ultra and Oneplus 8k videos on my 720p iphone Xr and judging which is better 😂😂
The only video I needed to see on this subject! Thank you
Considering that both S23 Ultra and iPhone 14 pro max cost almost double as that of OnePlus 11, I'd rate OnePlus as the best value for money..the difference between the cameras is just a tad bit..
Your camera comparisons are among the bests without a shred of doubt.
As for the comparisons, I think the 14PM is still the better and consistent shooter. The S23U has the most potential to be on par with next gen iPhones.
Thank you for the kind words. That’s what keeps me going!
I loved how genuinely you presented this video. So natural really lured. Hope you will be on next best video.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra best phone out-there right now. Hands down!!
Maybe best camera, definitely not best phone. Full of bloat and Samspam. Not the best hardware.
What exactly do we want from a phone camera or normal camera??which camera setup is best ?? I am very much in doubt.is it a zoom?natural or a bit vibrant?smoother or sharper?a bit darker or brighter?so i think nothing can be the best..
I got the S23 Ultra yesterday and I'm surprised how unimpressed I am comparing it to my Note 20 Ultra!
Samsung has done an amazing job optimizing the Note's camera and performance to the point I'm returning my S23 Ultra!
I'm gonna miss those speakers on the S23 though 😩
Wow I am really surprised to hear this. That should be a generational leap in performance
@@dannywinget Bro, I thought the same!
The lowlights processing was better in many instances, especially the ultra-wide!
🤓🥸
weird you're not staying if only for the way better battery life and llonger software support. Your note is on its last software update.
@@CraigDIGz You're right. But the battery life is still really good, and Android 13 is still fresh.
I'll wait for the S24 Ultra, that's gonna be the big jump from Samsung, design and all!
You hit the nail on the head with your analysis. Overall I'd pick the Samsung, but can't go wrong with the IPhone. The Oneplus has limitations but does very well in most situations, even excellent.
Your photo comparisons between phones are so good. They are my favorite ones!
Worhit trade my iphone 14 pro max to samsung s23 ultra?
Probably not but that’s what I’m doing 😂 I preordered an S23 ultra w/ 512gb storage, I’m slowly working my way out of the Apple ecosystem
100% sure pal
It truly depends on you. If you are heavily invested in the apple ecosystem, stay with iphone. Otherwise, it would be an easy pick for the s23 Ultra.
@@davidnaromal4720 i see thnks bro i will keep my iphone 14 pro max 💜
Great video, Danny, but a lot of the slight differences you were pointing out I really didn't see a difference. For the money, Oneplus has my vote as it is seriously close and sometimes better than the other two.
Also night shot, S23 Ultra is clearly better because it can show stuff within the dark shadow.
Not everybody wants daytime in night photos. You also missed where the iPhone was brighter in the extreme night mode test. Seriously they are all good and no reason to side with just one company.
@@dannywinget nah...
@@dannywingetnah son 🤣
Man the whole time I just kept thinking, ALL THESE LOOK SO GOOD! for me the camera isn't a big enough difference to sway a buying decision, there used to be a much bigger gap in Phone cameras.
As someone that has an s20 Ultra, I realize the jump to a s23 Ultra would be significant. But, would I be better served to wait for the s24, as the difference between the s22 and s23 are minimal? Stands to reason the s24 will be a signifcant/measureable jump from the s23, no? I'd like to upgrade my s20 Ultra but I'm willing to hold off for another year if the s24 will be a lot better than the s23.
hey, is s20 ultra quiet good still?
I think OnePlus should be appreciated because we are comparing this half prized phone with the two beasts out there. Oneplus stunning performance though not perfect but still it is capable to be compared with these beasts.
Kudos to OnePlus this time for their comeback!
Was waiting for this video! Great job Danny! 🔥
This video feels nostalgic! OnePlus going against phones almost double it's price and still standing it's ground! As for which one I personally like, it's definitely the S23U! It's just a very fun camera to use! Think of scenario and you literally have a mode/setting for it! Just incredible!
Iphone just on videos are winner.

This was a great comparison. Thank you.
S23U is clearly ahead and that with the first version of the software. Great!
Not in video its not
Ahead in saturation 😂
Night shots are 1000x better on the S23U. Let's not even talk about the ultra wide night mode shots...
Night or day, a portrait or landscape, a photo or video, I always prefer zoom while capturing, the pixel details after capturing and every small moment/action in the scene at the time of capture... for me S23 Ultra is the Beast.
I'd like for them to have better sensors on the telephoto lenses however. It gets by but could be better
Considering the price tags for all of them, I think OnePlus is delivering the highest value for its price. Thinking about upgrading to 1+11 from my 1+8T.
*Did you upgrade? I also have a OnePlus 8T, and Iam also thinking about the upgrade to OnePlus 11.*
S23 ultra 🔥
