@@felipegomes6312 It's exploding barrels (2304 barrels in this map), blowing up. It's a mapping trick to create corpses, usually for Archviles to resurrect, or just for aesthetic purposes (you can see the dead bodies in the streets). Kinda both in this case. You could just put dead bodies while making the map, but those are just props, something Archviles can't resurrect. There is also a limited selection of these props, like no revenant corpses, for example. So when you see those in the streets, you know the poor bastard was blown up by barrels.

Really entertaining watch. History making. I saw the kill count at the beginning and so many times asked how the hell is it possible do this without dying. Skills off the chart, strategy and map exploits incredible, dodging and prediction insane, it is obvious the massive amount of time and effort that you put into these runs and Doom skill in general. I'm sitting here in 2022, watching fresh runs of a game from the early/mid 90's thinking about how amazing it looked back then on my friend's 486 and how it is still as of right now one of the best games to watch, play and extend thanks to players like you, the map makers, this youtube thing and the doom scene in general. Loved your look backs en route to the exit after you hunted down that last hell knight, what a feeling that must have been. Well earned and congrats!

Intensional lindef skips. Multiple precise rocket jumps. Glides. An archvile jump. "a lot of it just looks like a casual playthrough to me" I'm probably not alone in saying that my casual playthroughs involve such strategies as iddqd and idkfa.
The title of this map reminded me of the Star Trek episode, City on the Edge of Forever so I went and watched that again. Both this level and the episode are soul crushing

Keeping calm after some really close calls, surviving very tight and packed areas and specially memorize the strategies and corners for each area, and archies placements etc...just insane
Your skills are insane, there is no doubt. For me the most impressive thing is that you can keep yourself focused and keep your agility and energy for such a long time, wow! In addition to your game, I am very impressed with this map - textures, light, atmosphere, attention to detail and consistency are one thing. And the other is its topography, use of space, its great size, the second wow!
It may have been just because the run had been judged to be on a slow pace and therefore there was nothing to lose, but I appreciate the extra moment at the end to take in the vista before finally proceeding to the exit.
The gameplay is one thing but the tricks employed are otherwordly! A doom genius at work... love watching the next level understanding of doom physics you display! Never thought this map could be uv-maxxed with no saves! 🙏🏽
Just feel that Alien Vendetta, Hell Revealed, etc. are just much easier when comparing with Sunder. Sunder is just insane. Anyway wonderful job was done! Congratulations!
One thing I like about these giant groups of cacodemons is how when you approach them they all start moving down in a wave to stay at the top of the screen. It’s kind of funny to watch them do that.
What a beast of a run! Must have been real heart clenching at the end when you were trying to find that last monster and were wondering if you had missed one further back in the map!
Unfortunately not possible. Sunder requires Boom's limit removals, and id/Bethesda/Microsoft will never use Boom because of business, corporate and legal red tape.
Never thought I would see a backwards glide, that was certainly new! Not sure if this is deliberate or not but the MIDI has a recurring note that sounds like beating wings which reminds me of the Hive Mother

"7000 monsters? Surely they can't be that many. (few minutes later). Oh my god.... And that's just the start!". Watching the video makes me realize I'd never be able to complete this map, even with cheats. Hats off to the Master of Doom.
For some reason this map lags so much in GZDoom, which is odd, because I've managed to play Holy Hell full version just fine with very minor fps drops.
I had to change from opengl to softpoly, helped a lot with the lag, also mess around with video settings, I got gzdoom to play the later maps with no lag, but I have no idea exactly how I did it
That's because the engine is heavier and deals with more code, and this map has a BOATLOAD of linedefs and sectors to mind. And it doesn't help that GZDoom doesn't work in multicore.
@@DinnerForkTongue Sorry for the very late response, but I've decided to replay Sunder recently. Here is the thing. Now Map 19 runs fine in GZDoom, BUT, when I try to play it, and only Map19 with Russian Overkill, it lags down to a halt. I am not sure what is causing it. Killing all monsters through commands didn't help. Using Freeze did though, just like using the time stopping grenade launcher. In the wiki it states that Freeze stops "all monsters, projectiles, friendlies and item animations", which I assume the last one is what causing the lag. I don't know if there is a command that clears all items though to check this theory.
Ye, that's because of how GZDoom tracks monsters. Boom and its successors don't count lost souls as kills revives as either the same or actually reducing the kill count on resurrection.
My first attempt at this map in uvmax I thought it was impossible single segment. By the third I had a plan, fifth I made it. I should try whispers next but that map terrifies me, as does Singing void
I know you are the best Doom player or at least one of the top but I didn't expect you to play the HUD. I play without it, it makes you a better player

The monster count in this map is deceptive. At the end after I killed everything, GZDoom reported around 7800 kills after revives and lost souls.
