The style looks a lot like typical late 90's anime, not the prettiest in my opinion, but that doesn't bother me. The story is what counts.
@@edwinbruckner4752 I am the same way, especially with shows where there is a heavy plot. Now that I think back to the anime's plot, I feel like there are similarities between Elfen Lied and Stranger Things. I'm thinking more of the characters with their supernatural abilities and how the government is using it to their advantage. Then looked I it up and apparently Elfen Lied was one of the primary inspirations of Eleven in Stranger Things. Totally blew my mind and makes me kind of sad because Elfen lied isn't as popular and not a lot of people would have caught noticed (imo).

When Netflix did have this anime up, I was in elementary school at the time. I never forgotten the emotions or impacted it left me, im 20 an still appreciate this anime.

My scars from watching the anime has been opened again
The manga is one of my favorites, this theme still gives me chills despite the anime adaptation essentially only telling a *very* abbreviated first half of the entire story.
A good friend of mine and I were on a High School music trip and we started singing a duet of Lilium on our tour bus. Our music teacher was pretty struck by the beauty of the piece and it’s still a memory my friend and I both share and cherish to this day.
As usual, the anime is a simple adaptation where three quarters of the story is missing, but since there's good music, the producers thought that most people would overlook this detail ?

@@Bankai_Musashi1 Yes. Absolutely. The manga has 12 books. The anime covers the first 7. The art style of the manga was pretty ugly at the beginning, but that didn't bother me too much. There were a lot of details that weren't shown in the anime. If you care about the characters, especially Lucy/Nyu, you'll 99% cry by the last book. I wonder why certain scenes played out the way they did. The end of the manga will leave a deep hole in your heart. The manga is really, really good in my opinion.

This Anime left me in tears, Broken, Hope, love and Despair in the whole series. I still love it overall with its serious tones. I've seen the Anime and the Manga multiple times.

this story and song expresses a pain not known to many but understandable to all. I makes me feel understood. That someone out there understood the pain of someone wanting to be included yet destend to hurt others. Its powerful shit and should not be forgoten.

Even now, I remember first encounter I met this anime. Even bloody hands and cruel fate, I really wished they will be happy.
I watched this anime when I was in middle school. The thing that stuck to me the most is the puppy and when Lucy realized that the humans are bullying her because she is not human, but they act like a monster themselves

I mean... In-universe Elfenlied *is* a kids song. It's kind of on purpose since the anime and manga are permeated with false innocence and lost innocence.

This has to be one of the few anime openings that I think is so beautiful and tragic. This song kind of reminds me of Diva's song in Blood+. Both songs are underrated, and I love them both.❤❤❤

That being said I do worry if they'd ruin things and cancel culture is terrible nowadays but I'm a risk taker, especially when something wasn't finished that deserves it's tale to be finished, especially to bring back some of our favorite characters. Heck, it's more than just violence and nudity imo so honestly it would be justified regardless, though some of the symbolism would be removed depending on how it'd be censored.

To be fair it’s cuz I was like 5 when it aired so I experienced it pretty young but rewatching it as an adult is a whole other experience. I think lots of people will watch something as a kid and then not again, but as kids we overlook and are unable to comprehend so many important details of such mature media, so I always try to go back and rematch it as an adult. I’ve always found that the story hits a million times harder years later because I don’t miss so many key pieces of the stories.

It does capture something, not sure what exactly. I would describe it as the feeling, mostly the main male character would have, of realizing you lost a huge part of your life (meaning friends, memories, relationships) and something beautiful, at least for you, and horrific at the same time in it.
My first anime with 14 …still give me goosebumps when i hear the goosebumps. Yes after i didn’t watch anime for 3 year and started with Naruto ….

The anime was decent for it's time, and sadly the artwork of the manga hasn't aged well.
BUT I recommend the omnibus (which is out in english now) and read the entirerty of Elfen lied. It's worth it

Although, to my disappointment, I've watched the anime recently and I didn't like it at all, I think it's really bad.

I think it's perfect for the anime. It's not your typical funny lighthearted show that usually gets popular in the west. It's not for the average people.
