You shorted the 2014 version on playability a bit. The interior crane extends over the top, and the "decorations" in the back compartment were actually an attachable claw and magnet for the crane.
Just what I thought. Won’t give a cent for that. The 2014 model is very expensive. 300 dollar for a sandcrawler to play with? C’mon! For me the 2018 model is underrated. I‘d like to have Owen Lars, one more Jawa and droid and it would be very nice for the money. Just my 2 cents.
Jordan McGaw I know- but it still could've been a little bigger for the $140 price point- but it's because of Disney taxes %100. They probably make LEGO pay so much for using Star Wars and that's why the sets are more expensive.
@@LegoGamer5502 yeah you're not wrong, its a shame all the sets have become so much more expensive, try living in Australia!! Your friend comes to your house, he sees your 2018 lego sand crawler. While you're in the other room he wants to get a better look at it so he picks it up holding the middle. It then breaks as soon as he touches it and he leaves your house immediately and moves to Bolivia with a new identity.
I think it was awesome growing up and playing with lego star wars between 2005-2010. The prices already were very high for toys, I felt really special and for christmas I'd get one big set each year... Being the star destroyer, gunship, idk. Battle packs felt pretty affordable, being not much more expensive than a small pack of pokemon cards. Needless to say it was easy to amass your own star wars universe in lego over the course of 5 years if every single time for your birthday, christmas or whatnot, you asked for lego star wars. When I now take a nostalgic trip to the lego star wars isle in a kids' store, I feel disgusted. They've become luxury goods for only the richest kids. Combine this with increased prices for consoles and shit and how could a child have all of these things still? It makes me sad that my magical childhood will not be affordable for even the current generation. Besides, you raise another great point: smaller size. I got the sandrawler 2005 edition after I aced all my exams in high school, kindof a bet I had with dad. Yeah, it's shittier than 2015 version, but had so many blocks I built like 3 other things with it over the years. It's one of lego's key selling points that you can build other things with the blocks you get, and I just don't see how much things you can build with the insane amount of money spent on that 2018 abomination.
For the 2014 one, the droid you couldn't find is hidden throughout the set, in secret compartments and crates, only for the adventurous LEGO builders out there!
The Papillon Warrior most of the Star Wars ones are about 10 cents per brick. But I agree, they’re still way too expensive for what you get most of the time.
Although the new one is so small, it is something I wish I would’ve bought when it came out, it’s doesn’t take up to much space and you still get a lot from it. Not a bad set, just very disappointing in the size comparison to what the older ones look like

I remember building the 2004 one as a kid. It was so frustrating building the base as I was building it on carpet and pieces kept popping off and falling apart. Being so young I got upset and never actually finished building it. And since bags weren't numbered back then, I ended up losing pieces over the months and never completed it.
I couldn't afford the 2014 version so I never got it. I picked up the 2018 version for $100 on sale at Kohl's though so it is the only surviving sandcrawler I own.
Just finished building my 2014 UCS Sandcrawler. Had to breakdown and dust the first six bags as I bought it used, but the rest was mint in package. Amazing build experience! I would tear it down and rebuild it again just for the fun if it wasn't for those pesky brown plates. SO BRITTLE! Favorite USC set to date, behind AT-AT.
Man these Lego Star Wars sets just get smaller and smaller and more pricier. I stopped buying them in...2012ish and even then it was getting rough, but my middle version Clone Gunship is much more massive compared to that tiny Sandcrawler and only cost 120 back then Also the new X Wings are smaller and are 90 fucking euro?! my old X-Wing came with Yodas Hut, was bigger and was like 60
Personally I have no issues with the latest versions of the Sandcrawler or the MTT. Downsizing isn’t an issue in my view, BUT the price has to downsize to match. The newest MTT and the newest Sandcrawler only suffered really from a far too high price tag for what they are. They also sacrificed minifigure count trying to be cheap. I don’t think the designers did a bad job on either of them, but the person in charge of selling did.

The new one is so very nice. It's bad value yes, but i like it. Not having seen it in real life though, the value doesn't seem to warrant it. It did get onto my list of packs to watch if they get on a heavy enough discount, legos pretty much never do, but you never know it may.
Specially lego star wars seem to never go on sale. There is currently a couple lego harry potter sets for 30% price in a local store. Sadly i'm not interested in those. Plus, not rich not going to get something because it's cheap, i need to really really want it, not only for money reasons, also for storage/display space.
I feel like Lego have been putting overall less effort into some of their newer sets and just doing things they know will get money. Like, they released one Millennium Falcon for TFA, one for Solo, one for TROS and a UCS one all in the span of 4 years! And with exception of the UCS model, they're all basically the same yet all went for about £150 each, (excluding the UCS model). I absolutely adore Lego but some of their prices have recently been extortionate for relatively mediocre sets.
This video makes me kinda sad. I've always wanted to have the sandcrawler set, and I just recently saw it in stores and got excited because I actually had my own job and can afford it, but it is very underwhelming and cant decide if I'm going to buy It or not.
The crane on the inside of the UCS one can actually be extended upwards and over the side the sandcrawler to pick droids up from the outside just like the 2005 sandcrawler.
UCS Set was 300$, 2018 is 140$ Half the price for half the size and half the minifigs... The designs are both comparable aesthetically.. Granted, the UCS looks more majestic in the larger form when side by side. But, even if the UCS is "so much better" as you say; good luck finding one for $300 today. You're looking at more than 750$ - probably over 1000$ at this point. It's great if you already owned the older models, you've won. But if you're buying today from scratch... I don't know if I'd recommend the 2014. You have to be a really serious Lego collector to justify spending that much cash on a retired set. Think I'd just buy a UCS Falcon at that point if I had that much cash to spend on Lego...

i just realized but the 2014 is actually a ucs set
The size of the 2018 sandcrawler IS PATHETIC
IKR
Well you are comparing it to ucs models
Super Doggo 64 stop defending this piece of shit set it’s an overpriced rip off I’ve seen you defending it on multiple reply feeds STOP
UCS Set was 300$, 2018 is 140$
Half the price for half the size and half the minifigs...
